The new XR has come very close to everything I want in a motorcycle. It is now a refined and highly capable bike that doesn’t lag far behind the GS in terms of comfort but offers a new dimension of riding with its power and agility, making it a definite contender for a potential replacement for my 1250 GS.

Hi - old video but saw it now and new sub😊 I have to change the tyres on my Multistrada V4s (comes with Scorpion Trail 2) soon and was thinking of either the Anakee Road or Next 2. Cheers
Thank you for the subscription, it really means a lot to me. Regarding the tires, I would suggest not even considering Anakee, especially not for the Multistrada... If you're a fast rider and put a lot of stress on the tires when exiting corners, and if you were satisfied with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, I would recommend getting them again, as they offer a bit more grip than the Tourance Next II and are a little more agile. However, if you find the instability on flat surfaces bothersome with the Scorpion Trail II, or if they sometimes wobble, then the Tourance Next II would be the ideal tire for you.
@@motobeat6183 thank you for your reply and guidance. I do ride fast and like the feel of the Trail 2 overall just thought of trying something different. Now the Anakee is surely out. Any idea on the Scorpion Trail 3 which has launched a little while ago. Merry Christmas 😊
@@kurushunwalla I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Scorpion Trail III, but I haven’t tried it myself, so I can’t say anything for sure. I will definitely test it in the spring, so I’ll be able to say how good it is then. Merry Christmas
@@motobeat6183Thank you.
How is the vibration?!
It was yet another very pleasant surprise... On the new model, the vibrations are barely noticeable, meaning the motor vibrates just enough for you to know it's runing. Compared to the old model, this is a huge improvement.
All true, i experienced all the same 4/5 bike.
Thank you!
Is model year 2024?
Yes, it is 2024 model.

Spring and the new riding season feel so far away. I truly hope this video helps make the wait a little easier and faster, and brings a bit of joy to pass the time.
Fantastic review! Thanks for sharing, now I know I can say goodbye to my 1250 GS, 3rd and last GS, and buy this one 😊
Thank you, a very similar situation is happening with me. After three GS models (two 1200s and a 1250), I will most likely switch to the XR. I'm just waiting for the trial of the ASA system on the GSA, but I'm more and more convinced that I will switch to the XR anyway.
What about mileage in comparision with plain Tourance? Mileage will be high with full onroad tyre like NEXT or partial offroad tyre like plain tourance?
The way you ride has the greatest impact on tire wear. With my rather fast pace and very strong accelerations, I manage to get between 14,000 and 15,000 kilometers with the Toutance Next 2.
why so many crazy overtakes ?, a lot of them illegal
Because I am testing the motorcycle's performance, not riding in a vehicle convoy.
Completely agree about radar and riding style/safety. The ASA and electric windscreen would be high on my list though as I do lots of highway.
Thank you, but it seems that many riders are unaware of this, even though numerous studies have confirmed its truth.
@ It’s an instinctive feeling. It feels safer to pass traffic than be passed from the rear. You can only look one way most of the time and for me that’s forward. Disclaimer: I drive a lot of busy highways.
May GOD wrap a hedge of protection around you on your bike!
Thank you!
Informative. Sound of bike is awesome. How did you recoded?
For recording I use Zoom H1n in the back pocket of my jacket.

I love this fat GS. Love it! Triple black, high seat, ASA but I like the single akrapovic black slip on, not doble. I will to see how much I need to pay for that configuration in Miami.
To answer you first question, it is not a beautiful bike but it is not an eye sore either. Simply put it is simply epic. Period.
When I got my first GS or the GSA back in the day both were Love at 1st sight. They were aggressive, massive and tough! I don't know what they are now, but definitely not my cup of tea any longer.
Some of my friends think the exact same thing.
I agree with many of your comments, particularly riding at a pace slightly higher than surrounding vehicles and the practically useless radar control. I have radar on my car and don’t use it unless on a quiet French autoroute. The volume of traffic these days renders it unusable, particularly on a bike. Blind spot indicator is good but again unnecessary. Having owned 1200, 1200 shift cam and 1250 I want to like the new GSA but I’m struggling. I don’t think I’ll walk away from it and turn my head thinking wow! The one thing I dearly wish they would improve is the terrible gearbox. KTM and Ducati are light years away in this department. The quick shifter on my bike is like I imagine the early prototypes may have performed. When mine is due for a change in ‘26 this has to improve with all glitches ironed out. Perhaps Auto is the way to go and I have no doubt Ducati will have developed a silky smooth auto box that will really make for a hard decision. Shame, as I’m generally a BMW fanboy.
You're absolutely right! I recently tested the new Multistrada V4 (the test will be the next video on the channel), and the gearbox and QS are much, much better than on the GS models. It's a real shame because BMW missed the opportunity to finally create a good gearbox with the new model. I somehow hope that the gearbox is designed for the ASA system, and that only then will the GSA show its true potential...
lako tebi oprati tvoj čisti motor. Moramo jednom oprati moj zamazani 😁
Ma samo dođi i budeš vidio... Imali smo mi i gorih problema pa ih nismo riješili 😁

Congratulations on the new bike! Did you order the ASA version?
@@motobeat6183 nooooooo lol
When I saw the 1300 GS, I went and bought the last of the 1250s! Yet when this one came out I was smitten and felt so attracted to it that I am seriously considering to trade in my brand new GS for this GSA with ASA (I also dread that gear box!). This one attracts me the way a Mercedes G class or a Hummer would. It doesn’t look like a sports bike but then again I would never ask either of the Mercedes or the Hummer to look like a Ferrari in order to “be beautiful”.
I completely understand you, as I was in a similar situation after the release of the new GS. I wanted to buy the last 1250, but I couldn't get the black one. I just hope that the ASA works well, because if it does, the new GSA becomes almost irresistible.
Yes it is beautiful bike just that headlights looks too different😊❤❤❤❤❤
hideous heavy pig
its shite
Personally, I've never seen a good-looking GS/GSA! On the other hand, the new model is always better than the one it replaces. My GSA arrives in January.
Congratulations on the new bike! Did you order the ASA version?
@@motobeat6183 No, it'll be the normal one.
@@motobeat6183 No, it'll be the normal one.
I like the beak of the 1250 GSA better, but that's a minor thing
Thank you for comment!
in my opinion it is an exellent bike. The ASA system is the best thing it has.
I agree, it's an excellent bike. I haven't tried the ASA yet, but if it works well, it really takes the GSA to a whole new level and opens up an entirely new dimension in riding. Honestly, I can't wait to give the ASA a try...
But beware. ASA is completely new technology for BMW. Honda has had it for many years and has been able to fix all the issues with it. BMW still has to gain experience with automated gearboxes on motorcycles. BMW makes great bikes but is not particularly know for its reliability. Especially when introducing new technologies. I would stay away from ASA for the first 2-3 years.
@@michielvandepol6765 I understand what you're saying, and you may be right, but we're still dealing with completely different technologies, so I hope any potential issues have been addressed from the start. Honda makes true automatic transmissions, while BMW uses a traditional gearbox with electric actuators to change gears. That's why I mentioned in the video that I don't consider it an automatic transmission, but rather a very advanced quickshifter.
A GS, and certainly a GSA was and is never meant to be 'a beautifull bike'. It's a bike that is meant to get you everywhere, through hell and high water, and as comfortable and reliable as possible. And that is what it does. I'm picking up my new GS1300 next week, the 5th GS I will ride. Without a doubt still the best bike around.
First of all, congratulations on your new bike, and I wish you countless carefree miles! As for the design, I can agree that the GS has never been particularly a beautiful bike, but there's no reason it has to be that way. The new GSA is so radically redesigned that discussions about its looks are inevitable, and I don't see why that should bother anyone. As a big GS fan, I would have preferred it to be an evolution of the design rather than a revolution. That said, I can also agree that it's currently the best bike on the market!

Yes, the stock one.
Blower! So simple! How didn’t I think about that!😮❤
Thnx.
👍, I’ve just bought a set & really looking forward to testing them out . I’ve had 3 x gs & my current 24reg gsa and all came new with Bridgestone A41s . I feel the front when pushing seems light and vague .preying the Mets T2s give me more confidence in the bends .
I really don't like the Bridgestone A41. As soon as you start putting serious load on them, the front end loses its intended path, and the tires become very unpredictable, losing grip without any clear reason or warning. In wet conditions, they might be the worst tires on the market because all of these issues are even more pronounced. I believe you'll be very happy with the Metzeler Tourance Next 2, as they are drastically better than the A41 in every way and truly inspire confidence from the first meter. In the meantime, I've almost worn out another set of tires, and I will buy Metzeler Tourance Next 2 again because, overall, I believe they are most likely the best tires on the market.
On my 22 XR it happens when going over bumps but the sound is more like the centre stand than the chain. Happens so infrequently that im not too bothered.

Hey it’s this color an original color from the dealer ? I thought they do them only in blue, white , and the m colors Regards Good job 👍🏻
Yes, it is original color! I'm not sure if it's black metallic or triple black, but either way, the color is excellent, and the motorcycle looks stunning!
@@motobeat6183 I know I love it to even on the video 😁 Just to confirm this is the 2024 model ? Also I’d like to also what gs do you have ? I’m in exactly the same situation I have 2020 GSA 1250 With a little bit of modification 💪😁 To the engine and sc full carbon exhaust But maybe I’d fancy something different What’s your opinion, could this replace a really fast GSA 😅?
@@piotrmodnicki3406 Yes, that's the 2024 model! I have the 2020 GS, and honestly, I was surprised at how much the XR has advanced! The GS is still much more comfortable and has a lot more torque, but the XR goes through the revs so well that it opens up a whole new dimension in riding. Both the GS and the XR are very capable motorcycles, and in the hands of a good rider, both can be extremely fast without sacrificing safety, but they achieve this in different ways-the GS with low revs due to its torque, while the XR loves high revs...
Thanks bro for your effort, I have been waiting for very long time since 1300 has arrived, I 100% agree with your comments 1250 is better then 1300, brother in my opinion for a adventure long distance rider no need too much power only we are paying for everything design, looks, comfort, less complicated electric stuff, I didn’t got chance to ride 1300 but, I honer your comments and I see the difference while you was riding, 1250 is definitely manly looking bike. I have a question, which is better Africa twin 1100 or gs 1250 ? I know you are big gs fan, but those who are not big gs lovers, which bike you recommend in all aspects ? Thanks
Thank you for the comment! In my opinion, the comparison between the Africa Twin 1100 and the 1250 GS comes down to how you intend to use the motorcycle. If it's purely for road use, then the GS is the better motorcycle. It has more power, more torque, better suspension, better brakes, better wind protection, and is more comfortable. For off-road use, the Africa Twin is the better motorcycle because the seating position and suspension are more suited to off-roading. Additionally, the Africa Twin has a better TFT screen with more functions, it is extremely reliable, and is also cheaper than the GS. The best thing to do is to try both motorcycles and choose the one that suits you better, regardless of what people say about it. Ultimately, you're buying the motorcycle for yourself, so the only thing that matters is that it works for you!
@@motobeat6183 Appreciate your kind reply, yes that’s better to try before buying… Thanks
I still don't 👀 the 2024 Black Metallic ⚫️ version in the 🇺🇲.
I have same noise with my endurance chain in S1000XR 2022, I thought it might be the central stand but I figured it's the chain instead. Great review bro!
Thank you!
The low speed throttle response lag is because some genius in the EU has decided that there needs to be a a small amount of throttle twist slack in new bikes. I will ask about the vibration- is it still there in seat, bars or foot-pegs?
Thank you for the information, I didn't know that! I see no sense in such a decision, but EU directives can be very strange! As for the vibrations, I didn't mention them in the video because there simply aren't any! The XR vibrates just enough to let you that the engine is running. The vibrations are barely noticeable and do not pose any problem. I must note that this was a completely new bike limited to 9000 RPM. It is possible that the vibrations increase above 9000 RPM, but I will know that once I test the unblocked engine after the first service.
subbed, been running Road 6, fancy a change.
Thank you!
Its the centre stand thats making the knocking sound not the chain👍
👍
actually not :( I thought that as well, and took the center stand off, as well as the plate frame... and I still got the slap ;/ And I have the mEndurance chain and at this point im affraid there is nothing I can do...
Hi love the video. 700 miles on my 24 XR and yes and chain slap noise over rough /bumps more noticeable when slowing down ( I suppose less noise from the engine then ) or could the guy have a point ref front brake pad click. slight engine vibration more of a buzzzzz from the 4 cyl but already a lot less after 700 miles went for the M raised comfort seat very good it is on the firm side but still good and you don’t slide into the tank such an amazing bike Ash
Thank you! Enjoy the excellent bike!
Thx !

Greetings from Germany, you have great videos. I have ridden 18000km with the Tourance Next, the tyres were on the bike when I bought it. I'm currently considering buying the Next 2. Or the Next 1 again.
Thank you! Next 2 is much better tire so I would highly recomend it!
Throttle took some getting used to but once you get used to the bikes characteristics its bearly noticeable. For me at least
This looks like advertising.
Absolutely not! I have no connection with any manufacturer or retailer. I buy everything with my own money and speak completely honestly.
Maybe the centre stand not the chain.
I don't think it's about the central stand. It has two very strong springs, so I don't think the problem is there!
