BMW S 1000 XR test ride
Переглядів 11 тис.2 місяці тому
The new XR has come very close to everything I want in a motorcycle. It is now a refined and highly capable bike that doesn’t lag far behind the GS in terms of comfort but offers a new dimension of riding with its power and agility, making it a definite contender for a potential replacement for my 1250 GS.

I’m in exactly the same situation I have 2020 GSA 1250 With a little bit of modification 💪😁 To the engine and sc full carbon exhaust But maybe I’d fancy something different What’s your opinion, could this replace a really fast GSA 😅?

      @@piotrmodnicki3406 Yes, that's the 2024 model! I have the 2020 GS, and honestly, I was surprised at how much the XR has advanced! The GS is still much more comfortable and has a lot more torque, but the XR goes through the revs so well that it opens up a whole new dimension in riding. Both the GS and the XR are very capable motorcycles, and in the hands of a good rider, both can be extremely fast without sacrificing safety, but they achieve this in different ways-the GS with low revs due to its torque, while the XR loves high revs...

    Thanks bro for your effort, I have been waiting for very long time since 1300 has arrived, I 100% agree with your comments 1250 is better then 1300, brother in my opinion for a adventure long distance rider no need too much power only we are paying for everything design, looks, comfort, less complicated electric stuff, I didn’t got chance to ride 1300 but, I honer your comments and I see the difference while you was riding, 1250 is definitely manly looking bike. I have a question, which is better Africa twin 1100 or gs 1250 ? I know you are big gs fan, but those who are not big gs lovers, which bike you recommend in all aspects ? Thanks

    • @motobeat6183
      @motobeat6183 19 днів тому

      Thank you for the comment! In my opinion, the comparison between the Africa Twin 1100 and the 1250 GS comes down to how you intend to use the motorcycle. If it's purely for road use, then the GS is the better motorcycle. It has more power, more torque, better suspension, better brakes, better wind protection, and is more comfortable. For off-road use, the Africa Twin is the better motorcycle because the seating position and suspension are more suited to off-roading. Additionally, the Africa Twin has a better TFT screen with more functions, it is extremely reliable, and is also cheaper than the GS. The best thing to do is to try both motorcycles and choose the one that suits you better, regardless of what people say about it. Ultimately, you're buying the motorcycle for yourself, so the only thing that matters is that it works for you!

    The low speed throttle response lag is because some genius in the EU has decided that there needs to be a a small amount of throttle twist slack in new bikes. I will ask about the vibration- is it still there in seat, bars or foot-pegs?

    • @motobeat6183
      @motobeat6183 Місяць тому

      Thank you for the information, I didn't know that! I see no sense in such a decision, but EU directives can be very strange! As for the vibrations, I didn't mention them in the video because there simply aren't any! The XR vibrates just enough to let you that the engine is running. The vibrations are barely noticeable and do not pose any problem. I must note that this was a completely new bike limited to 9000 RPM. It is possible that the vibrations increase above 9000 RPM, but I will know that once I test the unblocked engine after the first service.

    Drago mi je da vidim ZG, poseticu ga za mesec i po dana. Odlican review, tacno je sve sto je receno. Taj udarac je najverovatnije od centralne nogare koja klepece pri udarcu, desi se i kod mene ponekad, mozda je na nekim modelima opruga malo slabija pa se cesce desava. Od skoro sam vlasnik XR 2023, odlican motor ali sediste ne mogu da svarim kako su tako lose napravili. Probao sam da stavim M sediste od 2024. modela i iako ne pashe, moze se na silu nabiti. Bolje je dosta ali daleko od savrsenog, a i ovde u Kanadi je $1200. Ne znam sta raditi, ali moram resiti problem ako zelim na dalja putovanja.

      Hi, nice video. Thank you. I think that the chain slap is inherent to this bike on the circumstances described in the video. After all, with the long travel suspension of the bike in case, that’s an occurrence that maybe is to be expected to happen. Does the bike comes equipped with the endurance chain or it’s exclusively of the M version? With the two side beautiful panniers the bike can be a serious alternative to the GS, if we travel solo. Hi Matt! Metzeler M9RR is a brilliant tire, made for uncompromisingly fast riders! I don't ride nearly fast enough to utilize the full potential of this tire. The only drawback, as with all sport tires, is the durability, which lasts up to a maximum of 5000 km if ridden in the manner for which it is designed. With the new construction and compound, Metzeler has managed to achieve very quick tire warm-up and also excellent performance in the wet. The only advantages of the Tourance Next over the M9RR are in very cold and wet conditions and, of course, the durability, which is three times longer with the Tourance Next.

      Do you find a vibration with the OEM Michelin anakee ? I’m going to try these next as I don’t use the bike off-road and I think I can feel a vibration through the bike with the anakee

      Teško je odgovoriti na to pitanje!!!! Motor se zbilja lijepo vozi ali sam ostao razočaran pozicijom sjedenja i udobnošću motora, jer je to oduvijek bio snažan GS-ov adut. Nadam se da će na GSA verziji to biti bolje riješeno...

    Hi @motobeat6183 ...I somehow missed your reply back then. :D I post this as new comment because it grew too much to be hidden under the other comment. Anyway, first of all I want to comment on the two separate smaller replies (which will be the "harsher" part of my comment: Guys I am sick and tired of people THINKING they know GS better than BMW. Come on! GS didn't start as a hugongous motorcycle (except the engine itself) that says "this is the extension of my d*ck". This is a... newer "feature", which unfortunately also brought the wrong kind of riders to GS. I already commented a bit on this in my original post above talking about how many GSA riders actually get the GSA to REALLY use its differences from GS. 90% of them it is just a "look at me" purchase. Which is a pitty because GS is way more than that and GSA had specific changes to specific use. Anyway to close this: 1200GS is a RETURN to original G/S values. 1250GSA is NOT it. 1250GSA was what an old Varadero rider would buy, when he got more money. "Look at me, I buy my coffee on this". Funny thing is that usually the same people that like monstrous 1250GSA, also like HP2, which also was a bit of a return to original values and FAR from what a GSA is. Maybe the "cool factor" gets the best of them. Sorry for the extended reply to the two smaller comments, but it really annoys me every time. BMW knows better than you and me, what a GS is. Now to your long reply to my long comment. 1) Yes I agree gearbox and quickshifter could be better and should be better. Weird thing (as you also say) is that BMW actually know how to make those better, but for some reason doesn't do it on the GS. I COULD be the fact that the gearbox has to handle a MONSTROUS torque 650cc+650cc engine. 2) Yes there could be some nice decoration for the new light and the radar, but it doesn't bother me at all. When I got my 2007 GS back in erm... 2007, GS was ALSO not considered a beautiful bike and Popeye lights looked weird to every other rider out there. Look how they imposed their presence after all these years. It will happen again. BTW there are already some VERY nice customization options (stickers) for the front (and the full body for that matter). Google for them. 3) I disagree, more functions cannot mean more buttons. They are already TOO many. Note that this doesn't come from someone that loves to do everything from a touchscreen (in a car for example), because it means that I need to take my eyes away from the road. I DO prefer physical control over vital functions. But VITAL functions. Not everything can have a button. For example so many people make a fuzz about not having the heated grips on a button. I usually see how the weather is and decide I want them on or off. I might lower the hit once a bit later, but not all the time. Big deal. 4) The bike is not smaller. I know it looks smaller. It is NOT. See the actual official numbers (length, width, height) compared to older GS. The new design helps hide the size, the new subframe is "slicker" AND of course we have the automatic lowering when stopped (or when moving very slow) which actually doesn't help in photos. But the bike SHOWS smaller (which is an advantage), it really is not. 5) I never said that you said that GS is a touring bike. I was commenting in general a general sentiment, that actually "forgets" all the other values of GS. GS is a great touring bike, but not the best and not even specialized just for that. GS is the best f*cking card in the deck. The Joker. And since I replied to an old reply and we have newer news to add (again a generic comment, nothing directly at your video)... 6) People seem to criticize that it already has a recall. (a) They seem to forget what happened with older models and (b) Recalls is actually a demonstration of the company supporting its customers. So it is a positive thing not a negative thing. Nobody can make something perfect in the first hit. Irrelevant of price. A Lambo can have issues. A Rolls can have issues. Get over it. They are complex machines. 7) People that believe it is a fail, not a GS etc. Have you asked recently how much time you have to wait for a speced for you order to arrive? Go ask. :D They cannot make the bikes fast enough.

      Hi NULUSIOS, I am glad you like 1300 but it is important to respect and appreciate other people opinions. I wrote many times that you buy bike for you only, not for other people and all that is important is that bike suits you! I don’t agree that people buy GSA as extension of their d.ick. In my opinion you can buy anything you want and use it as you want, only important thing is that you enjoy it. Many riders would love to ride more often or longer but they just don’t have time or money or health to do so. Hudge number of GS/A riders use their bike as a touring bike, me included, and in my opinion there you get the best from your GS/A. I am happiest on my bike in Alpes on 10 - 15 day tour and in those situations I wont my bike to be as comfortable as possible with superior handling and braking, because these are the things that keep me alive and happy and I enjoy every second of it. Brands exists because of buyers so if anyone knows what something is, buyers do. Same is with GS…. BMW produce GS for the buyers not other way around, so it is balance between what BMW can and want to produce and what buyers wish. I don’t care much about recalls. It is result of todays mode of production where almost everything is outsourced and insufficiently tested. It is the same with all the manufacturers and BMW shoved time and time again will to fix the problems so recalls don’t scare me at all.

      Mjenjač i QS na GS-u nikada nisu bili na razini ostatka motora... Na 1300 QS je bolji, osobito u downshiftingu, da je idealan - nije, ali dosta dobro funkcionira.

      Ja čujem da super radi, nisam siguran da li možda zato što nisam razmažen vrlo uglađenim QS mjenjačima kakvu su čujem na KTM-u ili S1000RR. Neki možda Japanski, tipa ležaljke sa 4 cilindra Itd.. Samo što mene ta vrsta motora nije nikada zanimala. Dok KTM 890 Adv ili Husky Norden 901 EXp bi bili točno po mom guštu jer obožavam adv motore i dvocilindraše. Najviše Boxer, pa paralelni Twin dok vjerujem da je novi Guzzi transversijalni V Twin sada napokon dosta blizu BMW boxera, opet nije ta razina. Možda odm probati novi Satelvio, jako dobro izgleda. Pa prvo sam planirao kupiti Nordena al čim je ovaj 1300 GS izašao to je za mene bilo to. Jer sam veliki obožavatelj boxera te sam krajem 9 mj prodao svoj R9T nakon 4 GOD uživanja 😢 Kako bi to lakše prebolio nadam se ovoj ljepotici na ljeto. Drži fige😅😊

      @@roverroko306 Upravo o tome se radi, QS nije brz i uglađen kao na XR-u ili 1000RR ali radi svoj posao. Dio problema je što su ostale komponente na motoru odlične pa to očekuješ i od QS-a a on nije na istoj razini... R9T je prekrasan motor, možda i najljepši u BMW ponudi ali niti blizu iskoristiv kao GS, Nadam se da će ti planovi uspjeti pa se možda vidimo negdje na cesti👍

      @@roverroko306 Daleko od toga da su QS i mjenjač loši, jednostavno nisu na istoj razini kao ostatak motora. Kad se navikneš na mjenjač nećeš to niti primjećivati. Nadam se da se vidimo na cesti!
