A certain number is hard to say, as that depends on a lot of variables (what materials you are turning, how quick you are taking off materials etc) but I would say that when you notice or question that you might need or want to sharpen that is an indicator that you might want to rotate. Hope that helps!

We use a squaring jig and a disk sander. It is super quick :-)

He talks about that in the video and for sure you have to be very careful and mindful about it. I think his answer is yes there is risk, however, when you have bought something and are repurposing it into other artwork there may be leeway. That being said we are VERY careful about it here. There was also a fair amount of talk about it in the live chat which you should be able to watch back as well. I know that isn't a definitive answer but I hope it helps :-)

Hey Chuck! I know lots of folks just print on high quality paper and go from there. Plus using stuff that you can get or is vintage like stamps, comics, cards, stock/bond etc. Thanks for tuning in to the video!

We like to get our military ones from Hobble Creek Craftsman as he does an amazing job and he also pays for the license to use those images. Yes when I have had that issue it has been because I was using too much polish. Also really make sure that your paper towel or rag is clean / that you have gotten all off the Yorkshire off. Let us know how it goes!! :-) Hopefully you will have good success this time around

To get back to this. Problem Solved! I appreciate your suggestions . Yes, I was using way too much. When applying a minimal amount to my paper towel, the problem went away. Thanks again for your help and education.

usually the way we match them up is by marking the blank in some way to remind us to line them up well with the tooling. There is always a sharpie nearby for this :-) Hope that helps :-)

Carrie is really practiced at getting it even, so I guess practice, and if you have good magnifiers you can use those to see your work really well as well. And yes, after it is cured, we take it to the lathe to sand/polish, which generally doesn't take too much time. We use 400 and 600 fine grit sandpaper and then zona paper to polish. Maybe not until fall, It is currently too hot in our shop for afternoon turning.

We paint the tub sometimes, but for the most part the pencils are so packed in that the tube does not show through anyway so it doesn't really matter. Thanks for watching! and good luck with your blanks!

Ohh good question. Carrie says that most times when you bend them they will pop out on their own, and I know chad uses pliers sometimes as well as just hitting/whacking them to get it loose as well. (I have watched him do this lol)

@@TurnersTv - Thanks for the reply. You are sure Chad is hitting them to get them loose as opposed to just throwing a tantrum over dealing with these little fiddly parts (possibly a little of both)? ;-)

ha ha ha! Maybe it is a bit of both lol He has a little hammer just for them ha ha

There is often pin holes in watch face and we will use the uv in those spots and if there is not holes then you can totally also just use CA glue :-)

Ahh thanks! And yes he is doing much better now :-)

I spoke with Chad and he said that maybe he didn't use enough red dye or (most likely) he didn't shake the red bottle of dye enough before he mixed it in the resin. That being said those are the best guesses and it could be any number of factors lol. Sometimes resin casting goes sideways and we don't know why lol
