It is so frustrating that this bird could easily be saved. Just stop old growth forest logging, put up more nest boxes, and exterminate the invasive sugar gliders. Only human greed is to blame here.
100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% correct. It's incredibly frustrating. I contacted the federal minister for the environment and got a not so great reply back from some Dr that's been hired by the government to respond. Nothing mentioned about stopping forestry logging. Nothing mentioned about the lack of funding under our current federal conservation act for 99% of endangered species. Nothing mentioned about the last review of said conservation act being rubbished as a terrible piece of legislation that does nothing to help save endangered species...Albanese rubbished the report. He'll never get a vote from me EVER again (nor will ALP or LNP). EVER.
Super! building this type of monitoring into protected area management systems will be a gamechanger to improve knowledge, decision making and protection
Hello and thank you for a very interesting overview , is there much work being done on identifying feral animals like deers ? Many thanks rob
Hi, you can see all of our published case studies here: wildlifedrones.net/category/case-studies/ We do have some projects on feral species that haven't been published yet, but happy to provide more information, please contact us directly info@wildlifedrones.net
Good afternoon, is there a research article that Dr. Drebbie Sanders has published on the use of drones and radio-tracking technology?
Hi Daniel, you can find the research article here: www.researchgate.net/publication/358404185_Radio-tracking_wildlife_with_drones_a_viewshed_analysis_quantifying_survey_coverage_across_diverse_landscapes Let us know if you have any questions or would like to book a free demo
Are they getting more in population now?
Populations are slowly increasing with each breeding season, but they're still not out of the woods just yet. Ensuring long-term survival of individuals and the wider population is crucial!
What's that loose black thing attached to the pangolin at 3:10? Is that a tag? Is it supposed to be loose?
Yep, that's the radio-tag! It's attached to the scale of the pangolin. According to the researchers, the pangolins like to dig and burrow through tight spaces. So by having the tag dangling off their body, it actually prevents the tag from snagging on things and falling off.
Wow interesting how valuable Drones are to wild life conservation 👏✈️
Thank you! Yes, we can survey difficult terrain with drones and we can track up to 40 radio-tagged animals simultaneously with our technology
