      @@tigertruckerman I put a dpm down under the concrete , and lapped it over the brick course , then used normal 4 inch on top of the bricks as well . Thanks for watching . 3 years on , absolutely no issues from what we've done , but the Wickes door handle/ lock assembly is rubbish !!

      @dadsworkshop I didn't realise so many people selling g conservatories cheap,or even giving them away,usually because they want to build a extension, I need the room

    • @dadsworkshop
      @dadsworkshop 29 днів тому

      @@tigertruckerman so I looked into buying a complete conservatory second hand in-depth. The comebacks seemed to be roof leaks mainly , hence the reason the roof cost nearly half our budget on this , but new and it'll last the longest , not leak etc . Also I wanted to cover and gain the biggest space possible , and this couldn't have been done buying complete conservatories , so I opted for second hand windows, there are more than enough out there . I ended up buying a whole house worth from a double glazed who had removed them , not only that he delivered them for me , and what I didn't use I sold on eBay ,and recouped the cost of what I kept ! My only hassle with this build was the rain that year , I even ended up siliconing between the inside of the frame and the concrete to stop the water going under the frame .

    • @dadsworkshop
      @dadsworkshop 29 днів тому

      The polystyrene insulation in the walls also has silicon all around , holding it in place and sealing the edges , if water ever gets in it'll be from an underground spring ! Id lay money that even now if I took it apart the wooden frame would be dry everywhere . I even siliconed any holes thru the dpc I drilled to fix the frame down !

      Hiya , thanks for watching , and commenting , I think now it's three years on , and it's just as good as when finished , I have to clean the light algae off the roof panels once a year , with an extendable mop and squeegee , wouldn't change a thing about the build or process . We all use it daily , it's extended the house and made it so much more useable as a family home , this is the most used room in the house and a big bonus is everything we do in here has an abundance of natural light . As nearly everything's plastic it's as good as the first day , paint gas been touched up here and there where the kids catch it with chair backs dining table ..nice easy very low maintenance . Slowly getting on with the rest of the house .... See sons bedroom vid !
