I'm still not over with the fact that they didn't continue to make a second movie that has this cast. They were the ones that I actually have pictured in mind for every single main character. No hate for the series but I love the movie more. I think Jamie is perfect for Jace. Lily is also perfect as Clary. It's just sad.
As someone who's read all the shadowhunter books i can say with ABSOLUTE certainty that the movie is MUCH better than the show. I'm sorry but it was perfect from casting to storyline, although i know that a few things were changed in the movie like the ending but they still made it quite accurate to the first book. I also adore the cast (all of them) if i'm being honest, i know that people like Matthews Alec more cause of his looks & cause they got malec but to me he didn't give off Alec like Kevins did. Kevin looked older than a teenager yes but his aura and acting truly made me think of Alec from the books. Part of this has also to do with the bad writing in the show cause they made both the Lightwood siblings a lot nicer with Clary than they actually were, like it took them 3 books to actually become friends and love each other but in the show they made Izzy act all cheerful besties with Clary from the very start when she wasn't anything like that and don't even get me started on the parabatai bs. I personally would have switched show Izzy with movie Izzy cause the one from the show looked more accurate to her description with the dark hair and dark eyes. What i liked about the movie actress is that she just like Kevin got the character right but like i said before this also is the fault of bad writing in the show. Someone who they did cast really well was the actor for Magnus in the show, he was really good. The rest of the cast is absolutely perfect like Simon, Hodge, Jace, Clary, Valentine, Luke, Jocelyn, Magnus etc looked exactly like i imagined them to look. I remember a lot of people complaining that Valentines actor looked too hot for his character and that he didn't have silver hair but Valentine has ALWAYS been described as a handsome musculair man with a youthful face so i don't know where they got that from? I do think that they should've sticked to the silver hair but who knows they tried and it might have looked really bad but despite that the actor absolutely killed it as the villain. It's been ten years and i'm still so upset that we won't ever get a second movie, and it also won't be the same without Godfrey.
Ikkkk Jamie portrayed Jace soooo much better than Dominic. The way he is so sarcastic and charismatic but you can also see this vulnerability of his that makes what Jace is. Also Jocelyn is freaking Lena Headey who played Cersei on Game of Thrones, and as we know she is a fierce woman who would do anything to protect her children, and that’s literally Jocelyn. And don’t get me started on Hodge, like wdm he’s like so young on the show, and in the movie he is the coward desperate man he is. About Simon, I love how Robert portrays the funny nerdy teenager we know Simon is, but I can also see the strong, loyal, brave, true-to-himself side with Robert much better than with Alberto. Also, Lily and Jamie had this amazing and iconic chemistry and we know Clary and Jace would burn to ashes the whole world just to save each other. I would have loved to see them acting THAT kiss scene when the seelie queen forced them to kiss when they still believed they were siblings, like THE TENSION AND DESIRE. The movie institute was so books institute since we know Shadowhunters were kinda old fashioned as well. It made me feel sick to see that modern series institute with so many people living there when the fact that the number of Shadowhunters were decreasing as time passed is important for the future plot of the books. I could go on and on about this, but idk, but I just feel so sad that these moves had sooo much potential with these actors and everything that I’ll never get over it. I hope someday we get to see the perfect adaptation of the Shadowhunter chronicles.

Jamie portrayed Jace so well like it was amazing, i just wish that they gave him golden eyes cause they were mentioned a lot in the books and Jamie's eyes were golden on the posters so that seemed kinda lazy to me. I loved the entire cast of the movie but i would've liked to have Emeraude play Isabelle in the movie as well cause she is more accurate to Izzy's description but her acting isn't as good as that of the movie actress. Robert is the best Simon but Alberto is a great one as well, there's one character that i'm conflicted with who's portrayal was better and that's that of Magnus. Harry did an AMAZING job playing him character wise but Godfrey was how i imagined Magnus to look. It's just sad that we never got to see Godfrey show Magnus funny and charismatic side. I would've KILLED to get all 6 movies with the original cast, seriously it's such a wasted opportunity. If only they did better with the marketing put in more effort, it would've done much better. And when it didn't do so well they shouldn't have given up so fast and still made a second one. I'm sure that it would've been more successful. Like there's so many bad movies that got multiple sequels like twilight, sharknado etc so WHY could they not to it for TMI? What sucks even more is that the same company that holds rights to the movie also holds rights to production of The Infernal Devices so we probably won't ever see it come to life. I'm pissed but also kinda glad for it cause they would ruin it.

Man I fell in love with the book series, I wouldn’t have watched the movie though if my mom didn’t tell me it existed! Movie left out some details though, like most remakes
Yeah I feel like book to movie adaptions always miss a lot of things since they’re cramming a minimum of like 300 pages into row hours, but I think that movies were better than the show. The show went off track after like season one

A "tab" is like "credit". It's when you don't pay the money to an owner straight away. even after buying things from them several times. Instead, everything you owe is tracked on this tab and you pay it all off later on. A "cap" is a "limit". Kaz will give Jesper the tab he wants, but he won't pay beyond a price of his choosing.

Kaz's positive reply was what made me wince. I do remember at one point in the books Kaz is mid panic attack or fucked up somehow and mistakenly calls Jesper Jordi so i thought maybe it was a misplaced callback to that
