Why Return of the Jedi was the PERFECT ENDING for Star Wars
Переглядів 85328 днів тому
Why Return of the Jedi was the PERFECT ENDING for Star Wars
The movies were Made in the 70’s and 80’s, so misogyny was the reason.
Originally, Leia was not Force sensitive (Vader didn't felt anything) , and was not even Luke's sister. This was introduced in RotJ, to end love triangle Luke-Leia-Solo .Yoda in ESB was not a Jedi grandmaster, more of a typical wise hermit type. He was reluctant to train even Luke who was literally at his doorstep.
True. It’s crazy to think how different Star Wars could have been if some things hadn’t been changed along the way
I agree with GamePanda. From the very beginning, with Bane’s apprentice, Darth Zannah, the notion of Apprentices growing until they challenged and did away with a Master they’d surpassed broke down. Most Apprentices assassinated rather than confronted their Masters, while still weaker/less skilled than said Master. Palpatine proves nothing, as far as the success of the Rule of Two. Had he been born during either the Old or New Sith Wars, he almost certainly would have risen to dominance over the pack, because he was a prodigy, extremely calculating, and immensely strong in the Force.
Palpatine was indeed a prodigy. Good analysis!
It did right up until they actually achieved their ultimate goal of destroying the Jedi and Republic. Once they were in power things slowly reverted back to the old ways where everyone was power hungry and wanted a higher ranking and status. True they didn't use the force or anything by all the imperial officers were constantly seeking glory and fame and that caused them to make stupid choices that helped the rebels win key victories.
That’s actually a really good point. Appreciate the comment
He's just an awesome character 👍
Agreed. Bring him back in more content !
I dont think you understand the rule of two. The point was to create someone stronger than you that overtakes you so that every Sith is stronger than the one before. This failed immediately because the Sith are powerhungry narcissists unwilling to give away the power they earned leading to them (like Sidious) handicapping their apprentice by not teaching them correctly or eg Darth Vader's suit. And the other way around, sometimes the apprentice would poison their master or kill them in another way before their training is finished, leading to loss of skill and knowledge. Sidious broke with all of this bc he wanted to become the Sith. The one to rule forever. He might've been strong but it's debatable if he was the strongest one ever and his way of handling things definitely lead to the downfall of the entire Sith order.
Good assessment
Yeah back in the old days when the Sith were an order like the Jedi their biggest issues was all the infighting. Every Sith wanted to be on top so they purposely screwed themselves over just to make sure they could move up the ranks more. The issue was of course it usually gave the Jedi and Republic edges that kept the Sith from gaining total dominance.
I wound say that Darth Sidious is one of, if not the most powerful Sith in Star Wars and even if he never intended to, he embodies what Darth Bane saw as the ultimate weapon of the dark side(Deceit, Manipulation etc.) and the Sith never give each other the chance to seek out a new apprentice and that's the whole point of it. The one craving the power always has to become more powerful than the one holding it and so forth.I think therefore the rule of two definitely did benefit the Sith even though like u said it is flawed if the apprentice is too weak to overthrow the Master or the Master dies before passing on all the knowledge . Nice Vid btw, Im currently reading the Bane Trilogy :)
Awesome! The Bane trilogy is some of my favorite material from the literature side of Star Wars. I agree with the Darth Sidious points, he did embody what the Sith were ultimately meant to be.
The Irony that evil destroys some good but completely destroys itself. Unatural.
It's almost like you need to have a balance of light and dark.
This man has composed so much material it's insane. A Legend
Now we're talking business, have a chair.
I like Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles
Awesome
Darth killed over 150k people including children. How do you redeem that?
Luke killed millions on the Death Star . Blue collar workers 😂 like father like son
Because the movie wasn't written like that.
😂
Awesome character. Deserves further story lines.
Good video, a favorite character of mine👍
Thanks! Same here
I absolutely love the relationship between Vader/Anakin and Luke in ROTJ. Especially Prowse's and Hamill's acting on the bridge scene conveys all that you explain here. The direction for that scene was amazing. The dialogue and the body language especially are so telling and it's such an amazing piece of cinema. You can tell by Prowse's body language how Vader's armour is cracking, how he is deminishing, how his heart really isn't in it anymore, he just thinks there is no hope. "You don't know the power of the Dark side, I must obey my Master" & "It is too late for me, my son." James Earl Jones does an amazing job at inerpreting the lines. When Luke says "Then my father is truly dead", and Vader just slumps on that railing, looking dejected, it shows more than a 1000 words that redemption is near, Vader's time is up.
You’re totally right about the body language. It conveys so much of the underlying emotion in those scenes. Their dynamic is by far one of my favorite parts of Star Wars.
I love the Ewoks ❤️.
His lies could have backfired spectacularly. His lies were human, but very manipulative and kinda gaslighting, and it could have caused a very different reaction from Luke in ROTJ. It could have caused him to lose trust in Obi Wan and Yoda and turn to Vader. They almost did set him up for failure with lying. The truth is always better. Obi Wan was lucky that Luke was a better Jedi in ROTJ than both Yoda and Obi Wan. I would argue their plan was lacking in trusting the Force and in trusting in the truth. I don't think it was justified but I can understand where he was coming from. It ended well, but no thanks to Yoda and Obi wans plan. Obi Wan was a flawed character in many ways and I definitely appreciate it that way, neither defending his lies not demonizing him, because really, it was a difficult situation set before Obi Wan.
Thank-you! I would like to invite all my fellow Star Wars fan to enjoy another unauthorized Star Wars Novel completely free. Just google Legend of the Harp Jedi. Then enjoy!
Wilhelm scream
The old skool. thx!!!!
I love watching the clip that Anakin has to decide between his son or his master then he snaps out of it
The real answer is that Leia originally wasnt supposed to be the other Skywalker. Lucas had plans for someone else, which explains the "There is another" line, plus Leia kissing Luke. Then plans changed.
Truth
Well, another was always Anakin, i.e. him turning back from the Darkness.
I really liked her and wanted to see more, the Ashoka show just missed on so many levels and it didn't have to, there were many characters introduced that were so interesting but failed to develop just like her and her master.
Hopefully Season 2 fixes some of that. Season 1 just wasted too much time on Sabine and Ahsoka in my opinion
I really liked Poe in the force awakens too bad last Jedi and rise of Skywalker did him really dirty by turning him from a fun, loving dude like he was in force awakens to a hot head in last Jedi in an argumentative, asshole, in rise of Skywalker
I agree with that, they tried too hard to make him like Han but they missed the mark. Han was cocky but never an outright asshole, he does seem like a different character a little bit in TLJ and TROS
@ Poe is Han Solo character arc done backwards Hans start out as asshole but he was a likable asshole but he gets more likable the more the trilogy goes on, and he grows as a character Poe started fun, loving and cocky act a bit fresh but by the time the second and third movie comes along, he just becomes an unlikable asshole and not a fun kind of asshole like Han Solo was
As kid looking at magazines and books that showed behind the scenes pictures of the models, paintings costumes/wardrobe I clearly understood that joint effort/collaboration to make these movies, specially McQuarrie's paintings, just loved them! As I would see them in the baseball style cards with the chewing gum. It inspired me to have a creative career which I was able to over time get into the Halloween industry and create official Star Wars licensed product in illustrations and sculptures which was a dream come true specially traveling to Lucas Licensing so many times. I believe Star Wars put me on a career path that has been so satisfying and not only to work on SW but DC comics, Marvel and dozens of other licenses, and it all started with Ralph's paintings. Great video!
This is a great comment. There’s a special feeling of wonder that came with this artwork as a kid, it is inspiring when you think that someone’s idea for a scene or character can help build an entire world just from a single image. Congrats on the career path- May the force be with you! Thanks for watching.
@@starwarsunited1083 Thanks, it really has been great to see my work in stores like walmart and most of the halloween stores that pop up every year. Yoda didn't even want to train Luke at first. Let alone Leia. He understood the risks. He also understood the Legacy. The Force was strong in them. Yoda and the remnants of the Council went into seclusion knowing the power Luke and Leia could both abuse if they were influenced by the Emperor's will. He didn't want the Emperor to discover or exploit either of the twins. Yoda knew all along that Luke would at least find him one day because of his communion with Obi Wan. Luke found Yoda. Yoda reluctantly agreed to train Luke after speaking with Obi and Qui Gon and witnessing Luke's very own desire to destroy the Empire. Yoda could only risk revealing Luke. Revealing Luke and Leia together would only encourage the Emperor to destroy what hope Yoda had left in the prophecy. Vader tried to exploit this shortly before he saw the light. The Romance of Star Wars....
Good perspective
For being "non-canon" Disney sure "borrows" a lot from Legends
It’s true. I have a video I’m working on about that actually- there’s a lot of EU ideas that Disney turned into watered down versions and called their own, and most of it isn’t good - the clone emperor in the sequels for example. That idea was done so much better in the original EU
yeah that monster is the Gorax snd is in Ewokes caravan of courage film , i love that film
Gotta check that out, I’ve been putting off watching the Ewok movies for too long
The Ewok movies are pretty bad just fyi
Can’t hear you. Your audio needs work
That's a Gorax, theres one in the ewok movies.
you beat me to it, also the blurrg was first scene in BfE.
It makes an appearance in Forces of Destiny as well.
Dismal Disney made the big mistake of trying to politicise Star Wars with DEI! The Star Wars films under George Lucas and the Expanded Universe were something that gave people much enjoyment. As already stated, alot of top authors contributed to the Star Wars experience. Really fired the imagination. It could have served well for future projects. Something enduring to pass on to other children. Sad really.❤
I would imagine he had an idea. Seeing as no humans pilot pods and then there is this 8 year old boy who does so with glee. I mean he was highly skilled as a child. His mom claimed he had abilities. So Im guessing adults close to him knew.
Yoda actually wanted to train laya instead of Luke. But it's good thing he didn't because laya. Probably would have killed vader out of anger because of what he did to her home planet. I think revenge, would have got the best of laya.
Good perspective
Vader did nothing to her homeplanet, Tarkin gave the order. The only thing Vader did was torturing his own daughter which is somewhat shitty but has nothing to do with blowing up her home.
@chrisbo5288 Vader told him to do it. If laya didn't tell him what he wanted to know. But then, after she told vader, vader did it anyway. Vader gave the order to Trakin.
@ Its not in the movie and neither in the book, vader detested the whole concept of the death star and had no authority on it above tarkin, it was the other way arround, if on the death star tarkin could give orders to vader. If not on the death star they were kind of equals, but vader could potentially kill tarkin but did not do it because of risking the emperors wrath.
@chrisbo5288 If he had no authority, why was he killing a lot of those officers. Why did got away with it.
Thank you for this video. Thron is one of my favorite characters from all media not just Star Wars. One of the things I love about him is he is not evil not exactly he is cold, calculating and all business which isn't quite the same thing. I'm glad to see that most of his personality has carried over from the heir to theempire series, which I think is by far the best in all of the Thron Books he was exiled from his people for preemptively attacking slave traders without the approval of the rest of the military. He also has a very fierce hatred for slavery.
Appreciate the comment. He’s been one of my favorite characters for a long time
Any money Disney would have paid EU authors in royalties PALES in comparison to the money they have lost from making a crap project that plummeted their stock.
Facts!
Need a part 2. .I enjoyed this
It was rhe 80's. That's why.
If you read, the books, Leia and Han Solo had three children, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin.. You would also know, that, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade got married, and had a child years later, and his name was Ben Skywalker, and this was before Lucus, sold Star Warsto Disney.. You adopted the story from Disney on Ben Solo instead of reading the books before...
Yeah personally I feel the books should be canon
@@mckenziewinters-cv8gd They should be cannon in my opinion, but not all people shares the same opinion, that a person has, they could either disagree with it or agree with it...
I miss the fresh concepts of the old EU
That’s the thing. Fresh concepts! There were so many unique ideas
@ and great interconnected and fleshed out stories that make sense. Like the warlords after Endor, some were great and others were kind goofy like Trioculus. But it was fun. The. There’s the 2nd galactic civil war with so much depth and deep development. There’s something for everyone
I bet money that they didn’t want to have to pay royalties to the original authors.
So they’ll loose a billion instead.
I do think that’s a big part of it
To basically Sumerize it, he was a beast(?), I mean he fought many B2 supers with only a DC-15 (blaster rifle)and a DC-15s(blaster carbine), I also like him in general. I’ll give him a full 11/10.
Darth Vadar is twisted. The good is still there. We see glimmers of it. But ultimately, Vadar isn't willing to foster the good in himself except at the very end when Vadar decides he isn't willing to let Luke be killed. That's the one act of evil he isn't willing to participate in.
It was family that brought him back! I don't believe in the end he wanted to lose Luke, his Son, and finding out he had a daughter too. The more he thought about it, the more he didn't want to loose them.
Vader is pretty tame in ROTJ.
Because Leia is basically Dooku on his period 24/7 😂
Empire strikes back is a better movie though
I agree
It’s not actually
I also agree, it just seems better in every way the effects, deeper story line and it also seemed like the most mature with the best acting of the original 3.
I agree
Disney had all the work done for them. All they had to do was convert it to live action. But no, they decided to throw it away instead.
It was right there
@starwarsunited1083 Indeed, but they refused to see it. And all because of Kathleen Kennedy and her shallow agenda.
They want to demoralize us.
