    As a novice trying to save money years ago, I attempted some nice fish my kids caught. I enjoyed it, but after every one I swore I would never attempt it again! :-) I have to say I am totally impressed with your attention to detail and masterful painting! I tried a 36'' Hybrid Musky ( youngest sons first) and ended up stripping it after first paint job. After 20+ yrs all the fish are still hanging! Looking forward to future videos! Thank you for your painstaking work work putting this one together!

      Thank you so much for your kind words! When it comes to fish taxidermy there are a lot of things to learn when it comes to doing them, so I still applaud you for trying as its not as easy as it seems! With each fish however you learn just a bit more about them and the more you do the easier it gets then its just like opening a pop can! Ill be posting more soon as I get the time to do so to help beginners with the basics 🤙🤘

    What do you use for the fill in the eyes and head cavity?

      All it is, is paper mache you can buy in most craft stores.

    what solution did you use on the fins? and alsowhat type of solution did you use on the tanning process?

    • @zstaxidermy1497
      @zstaxidermy1497 Рік тому

      For the tanning solution, I used 50% Denatured alcohol and 50% water in a 5 gallon bucket. For the fins for the drying process I just use plastic sheeting you get in the craft aisle and a thin plastic called Acetate. Yhen once the fish is dry I just used a fin backing material and mod podge, That process is shown in Part 2

    where can i buy borax? is it ok to remove the fins? i got a fish that i been working on

    • @zstaxidermy1497
      @zstaxidermy1497 Рік тому

      Borax is your basic laundry detergent base, you can get it in your laundry aisle in most and many supermarkets. You can remove the fins but itll be a waste of time trying to put them back in their natural position.

    Awesome video, I'd be interested in an explanation of the whole process as you do it. It's a much different process than I thought it would be!

      A lot of people dont realize just how much work goes into it! Its a lot of work to make tutorial type videos, and do taxidermy work, but Ill do my best to do that with future videos!

    This is great content. What is the white paste you are using before you put the form in the fish? Looking forward to you releasing more content!

    • @zstaxidermy1497
      @zstaxidermy1497 Рік тому

      Thank you! The paste that Im using is just white caulking that I thinned down, Its to help prevent drumming in fish while its drying, aids in movement in the skin to help adjusting on the form, and helps prevent the skin from peeling away from the form in several years.
