    Very well done video. However, also chiming in to ask exactly what type of plastic sheet you're using in place of that metal flashing? That IS an important detail.

    Thank you! This is the best video explaining mold making I have seen. I have two questions: 1- Is it Murphy's oil? Or Murphy's soap... and 2- Can you put it on the clay the first time around to keep the clay from sticking to the plaster, so that the mold comes out a bit cleaner? Once again. Thank you so much for this video!

    If you have a fired pottery figurine and it is solid how do you make a mould to replicate it? You need a spout to pour in the slip so thinking about the best way to accomplish this. Any tips?

    Putting wastewater with plaster in it, in the building's drain/waste piping could lead major problems. Place any water with plaster residue in a waste container and then in the trash. Allowing it to dry would be helpful.

    THANK YOU so much!!! This has to be one of the best instructional videos that I have ever seen. Just the right pace, just the right detail. Now I am going to try making a mold that I have been thinking about for years. One question: do you have a video on making those 4 adjustable pieces that you used for the sides of the square mold?

    Why use clay that dry? It seems easier to mix clay with water until it's a thick slurry and pour it and let it dry a bit then pour the excess out.

      Slip casting

    • @Heartwing37
      @Heartwing37 2 місяці тому

      He’s not slip casting, which is what you’re describing. I’m not sure if this technique is called the same thing as in glass working but we would call using this process slumping…because the media “slumps” into the mold. I’ve not seen pottery done like this but I’m a novice. I think most people slip-cast, which is what you describe. Interesting! Ah, he just called it “press molding”.
