Super morceau et si bien joué

Just received my Lir whistle in C today. Completely bent tube (looked like it had been sat on) in an undamaged box. Disappointed. Retailer has contacted Lir, so here’s hoping it gets sorted for me. ….. Edit: A happy ending. After some back and forth. My Refusal (communicated to the shop) to accept import charges on a replacement direct from the maker (because I bought mine from a shop), justifying to the shop owner/manager, that I wasn’t making a warranty claim but exercising my right to a replacement or return and refund because of goods arriving faulty. Justifying to the maker that I wasn’t making it up, and I had witnesses to the opening of the original package and to the condition of the instrument therein at time of opening. (Fortunately for me….because the maker phoned me direct started trying to tell me that the defect that mine arrived with was “impossible”, until I made him aware that the parcel opening was witnessed by credible witnesses. He “clarified” at that point that he wasn’t attempting to call this into question, or impugn my integrity…..which raises the question of why the matter of the supposed “impossibility” of the offending defect was raised. Maybe I completely misunderstood. He can be forgiven though, I could scarcely believe the sorry state the thing arrived in myself. Or how it passed the inspection of both the maker and the seller (whom both claim to have checked it.) Anyway after all that, my replacement arrived, and it plays very well. So I’m happy. The fact that the second tone hole (the one adjacent to the hole closest the mouthpiece) is slightly ovoid in shape rather than completely round does not seem to affect the playability, tuning or tone of the instrument. So I’ll call it good. It’s apparent that the tooling didn’t go smoothly on that hole though, as not only is the hole not completely uniform in shape, one can see a large enough gouge to be apparent beneath the plating, at the site of the slightly misshaped hole, which seems most likely to have occurred at the same time as that hole was machined? Anyway, despite this, what to my novice ear, seems a merely superficial and cosmetic defect, I really am very pleased with the whistle. It does all that I expected and makes a very beautiful sound. But…..for 10x the price of a generation (at least 10 of which I have bought over time….none showing the slightest visible defect however an expert player may assess their playability) I am a little surprised at the apparent “hit rate” of visual issues. Perhaps what I described is merely within acceptable limits….it certainly is to me, at this point anyway, as I think I’ve lost the will to address it other than to share my experience. I would caveat that however by saying if I had the choice to pick one out in a physical shop, I would not hesitate to reject an instrument showing signs of substandard tooling in favour of one that did not. It worked out for me in the end. And I am genuinely glad so many people seem to have a good experience with their purchases. I however, will not be rolling the dice again on Lir, not unless I can inspect the instrument myself before purchase.

Because of the reviews from Joanie (whom I enjoyed seeing and hearing at the Javits Center in Boca Raton decades ago), Stephanie Burton "(Cutiepie") and Sean Cunningham ("Whistletutor"), I purchased a LIR, and let me tell you, this 16th whistle of mine beats all the others, including my John Sindt. Well worth the investment and wait for it to be made, engraved with my name, and shipped. "Kyle" and the LIR staff are awesome!

Very nice performance. I just wish UA-cam would stop using hyperbole in their video titles. This performance is not “ unbelievable Irish music”. It is played very well and ranks right up there with a lot of other professional Irish performers on UA-cam. Very enjoyable.

Great video! I am patiently waiting for my whistle to arrive here in Australia. I will say UA-cam has yet again changed its algorithm, and currently UA-cam shorts is a major way to get your video's seen at the moment as they're really pushing that due to trying to compete with TikTok. A lot of major creators I follow have said they're struggling to get the normal amount of views on videos and once they realised the change and they've started pushing shorts as well they've managed to get their presence back. UA-cam is quite frustrating as a platform with their constant changes to how content is pushed and ever evolving. More shorts as well as videos will really get your content into people's feeds. Thanks for the beautiful whistles you've created, it's amazing to see such a young company come onto the scene and impress so many great players out there. I'm so excited to own one it'll be the last whistle I buy.

i bought a lir key a i am a beginner and i must say it needs so little air it is my most beautiful whistle and really helpful to have a nice instrument when you begin because it is so easy to play. I love it. Wish you made some low key one's .

Hi lir question could you make a high whistle and piccolo/ fife hybrid instrument? An instrument that has a an interchangeable head piece so you could play the instrument like whistle then take the whistle head off and put the flute style head on and play it as a small transverse flute
