Solo Kayak Adventure: Navigating the Cedar River Flow
Join me on a thrilling 3-day solo kayak trip through the breathtaking Cedar River Flow in the Adirondacks! This journey takes me deep into one of New York’s most pristine wilderness areas, where solitude and natural beauty await.
**Day 1:** My adventure began as I launch my kayak into the serene waters of the Cedar River Flow. The first leg of the trip is filled with peaceful paddling through tranquil backwaters. I set up camp on a picturesque lake shore, where I enjoy a tranquil night surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature and the gentle lapping of the water.
**Day 2:** The second day brings a new challenge as I paddle upstream on the Cedar River, making my way towards the Carry Lean-to shelter. This part of the journey is both exhilarating and demanding, with meandering marsh channels, changing currents and negotiating over beaver dams. Upon reaching the shelter, processing fire wood, I found a cozy refuge just in time for a dramatic thunderstorm to roll in. The night is marked by an impressive display of lightning and rain, turning my stay in the shelter into a thrilling and memorable experience.
**Day 3:** As the storm cleared over night, the final day offered a serene paddle with the river refreshed and flowing full by the rain. I pack up, paddled back upstream a ways and then headed back down the Cedar River and across the flow to the dam where I started. I concluded the trip with a deep sense of accomplishment and awe at the raw beauty of the Adirondacks.
Experience the highs and lows of my solo kayak adventure through the Cedar River Flow, from serene lake shore camping to navigating the river and weathering a dramatic night time thunderstorm. Watch the journey unfold and join me in exploring one of nature’s most stunning retreats.

    Don’t think that’s how to set your bear hang up. Beautiful spot for sure.

      Ya I know - it was a little sketchy - but I figured it was far enough away from the lean-to - Thanks for watching !

    Is that beaver dam the only real obstacle you had to get by in order to make it to the lean-to

    • @Bootlace_Anyplace
      @Bootlace_Anyplace Місяць тому

      Yes just the one beaver dam - other than finding the actual flow path at the lake - it’s quite a maze.

    used to be a bunk, stove, German Luger carved on a piece of wood on the ceiling and a log book. Found the cave back in the 70s.

    Not really a cave, but a stonewalled hut with a timber and tarpaper roof. There's even a fireplace! Would like to know the history of this. The notice on the wall indicates it was built in 1906. Maybe built by a hermit or some hunters?

    Looks like a great trip. You've got a few minutes of blank video in the middle there, around the 23 minute mark.

    Please take this down or at least edit the part around 8:30 where you give entirely too much information as to proper routes.... from a guy that's been going there for over a decade, please keep this a secret and make only the determined find it. Way too much info and video clues on here. Read the paper that you posted and please follow your own advice.

      I took great care in making this video not to reveal the location. For those who know the mountain the location would be more apparent than those you are less familiar. Its all relative as to your knowledge.

      You can’t make reservations in the Adirondack wilderness just at State Parks. Most sites have several tent sites, the lean-to can fill up on weekends.
