    So each section should basically be square? I don't think mine is going to be, so I must crochet tighter that you. Guess I'll add rows as needed.

      @SheriWhitfield yes evry section should be square, so you could adjust by switching hook sizes, or simply add a few more/take a few more rows away. Try do do it strategically so that you still have a pattern of stripes, if you're using that pattern.

    • @cabinfevercrochet
      @cabinfevercrochet 3 місяці тому

      Hello. I suggest putting two or more strands of your thin yarn together, to equal similar thickness. Just be careful when crocheting, to grasp all strands on your hook. Otherwise, you’ll have dropped loops in your work that are not connected to anything, and your bag will come apart. Hope that helps!

    Do you happen to have the measurements for the bag? I am using lion brand cotton 24/7 and even though its a weight 4 yarn it seems way thinner.

    • @wildflowerdesigns7803
      @wildflowerdesigns7803 11 місяців тому

      Hey, I'm sorry I missed this comment for some reason! The bag, as I have worked it in this tutorial, is roughly 13-14" in width and height. The middle depth is slight shorter where the V shape goes down, and the strap is as long or as short as you decide to make it. If you are having problems with your sizing, you can try going up or down a hook size to accommodate. I find that Lion Brand Cotton 24/7 yarn seems to be, what some people call a "skinny 4". Some yarn can be labelled as a certain weight, but through different manufacturing, turns out slightly different. I experience this regularly with my pieces as well, but it really just takes some time to get to know which yarn brands and lines you like to work with. I know that isn't super helpful, but it might feel good to know that you're not crazy; you're very right, that yarn does tend to work up a little thinner than other 4 weights.

      Absolutely, but try your best to have an even amount of rows so that you don't have to attach another piece of yarn for seaming. Having an even amount will leave you with your finishing tail on the right end of your piece.

    I have not crocheted in the past 40 years because every time I tried I could never successfully make anything again, because I added or dropped random stitches, or generally messed up. I even tried a class but I couldn’t learn in that format (1 teacher running around trying to teach 5 confused people at the same time.) I stumbled across this video because a friend wanted a bottle cozy and I thought I’d try again. WOW, you are a fantastic teacher. You made it so clear where to insert the needle, how to make different stitches, and you demonstrated slowly and clearly everything. I felt like you were over my shoulder guiding me. Thank you! I can’t wait to check out your other videos. PS - my friend loves her gift.

      Hey! I'm so sorry I missed this comment. I'd you've ended up with your tails both on the same side, do might have just crocheted an extra row, or one less than you were supposed to. You should end up with an even amount of rows, which would leave you with you tail on the opposite side. If that is the case, you can just weave in that tail and attach a new piece of yarn to thw corner that it should be on for seaming it up.

    Thank you for your video. Love this bag! What would be the stitch amount for a larger bag?

    • @wildflowerdesigns7803
      @wildflowerdesigns7803 2 роки тому

      Hey Rosi, you can completely customize this patter by simply starting with an odd number in your foundation chain. If you are looking for a certain size, I suggest chaining until you reach that dimension and then counting to make sure you have an odd number; if you end on an even number, just add or take away 1 chain and then you would be ready to start your pattern. The only other thing that this would change is the amount of rows each section will need. each section needs to be square, so if you are making a smaller amount of chains, you wouldn't need as many rows, and if you are adding extra chains at the beginning to make it larger, then you might need to add a few rows to make sure each section is square. You'll see what I mean as you start to work through your piece. I hope this helps!
