Creating your Detective for Call of Cthulhu RPG
As a lifelong Cthulhu cultist, I'm almost 47 today, and thanks to my father's library I had access to Lovecraft's entire bibliography from the age of 12, an opportunity I exploited to its fullest from day one. Anyhow, as well as I know the entire mythos and its many nuances, I never fail to click on any video that promises information about it, as worse case scenario I'm just listening to my favorite topic while learning nothing. Thanks for your time/devotion to the master of this hellish, materialistic "demension" we call earth/home 👍🏻🖤🏴☠️
Gotta love the DEI "casting"... Old Castro was no cracker. :D
There is no Earthly reason this cannot be made nor most of Lovecraft's works.
Lovecraft was an artist too and drew Cthulhu, ghouls and others.
I enjoy it most because we see CTHULHU! Find out it still lives and held in the depths since it is no water being but an air being a fire being. Its stupendous alien mind reaching flabby, tiny human minds to touch now and again.
Dyslexia can ruin a good read. Well done sir.
Nice overview. This is my second favorite Lovecraft story; first is Shadow over Innsmouth.
This was a thoughtful and strong effort. Well done.
“A whole nuther”
Are you stupid
Way is there a black monkey there Lovecraft hated them!!!!!!!!! 😡😡
Love the mythos... And all the authors who have contributed to it... Fatagn fatagn
Great explanation except for one thing. The newspaper article from Australia in the third chapter was not in Professor Angell’s notes. The narrator finds it by chance sometime after reading all his uncles notes. He was visiting a geologist friend and the paper had been used as packing material for some samples the geologist had in his collection. That’s what made it so exciting to the narrator. It was another independent source that added credence to the other stories from Wilcox and Legrasse.
Thanks! Guess dyslexia strikes again as I went though my notes and didn't pick this up!
Exellent video. You shoudl do more like this 😊
Excellent video!
why is cthulhun trapped under the city and who put him there?
The story text explains in Chapter two that the Great Old Ones can only exist on Earth "When the stars are right" so they withdrew to the city to wait for the stars to be right once more. And then they wake up...
Fantastic breakdown!
I read the book. Didn't particularly care for it but I appreciate your commentary.
jesus saves. allah forgives. cthulhu just wants to eat you in a sandwich.
Sandwich? More like skittles....
@@robertbemis9800 cthulu always struck me as like a skittles kinda beast. Tropical skittles.
Cuthulu be like , Main kitna famous ho gya😂😅
Very nice voice, very nice tone Usually when people tell/read those stories, they do it in a monotone voice I'm subscribing! Hope you do more of those explaining the stories
Thank you! Yes the old libravox ones were quite soulless sadly. And I will do more Mythos story explanations for sure!
A very soothing narration. Wouldn't mind more of these story synopsis videos.
Thank you! I enjoyed making this one so there will be more to follow.
The buttery voice that melts all resistance and POW saves
Too kind!
I remember in one of Seth Skorkowsky's videos where he described a weird science device one of characters tried to make, a gun that would fire glue globs to capture and interrogate enemies. But the character fumbled the roll to make it resulting in glue exploding all over the lab it was being made at and the organization that owned it effectively banned that character from the lab for the rest of the campaign.
Sounds about right for a fumble! 😎
Great to see you in my feed.
Great to be here!
This is incredibly helpful, the book can be a little vague on the crafting system, which extends to the weird science gadget rules.
Thank you! I know what you mean and glad it helped.
Excellent video! With Gaslight Cthulhu around the corner, I particularly like the section on the character’s Weird Science device.
Thank you! I hear Gaslight has pulp elements so steam punk Cthulhu is on it's way!
Excellent to see another video from you, love Pulp Cthulhu and always happy to see people put out helpful content for it.
Cheers! Pulp is awesome and so much to it that new player may now know about. Must do more on it!
Thank you. I really haven't played CofC since 2nd or 3rd Ed, but I always liked Pulp Stories. I have the CofC 7e Quick Start Rules, and I bought Pulp Cthulhu for my birthday. I might buy the CofC starter kit later. I see myself playing more Pulp Cthulhu than the regular game, so I'm unsure if I should buy the Keeper's Book.
"pushed out of the window by a haunted bed" Hmmm... that rings a bell. And some bones.
I want a dice tower like that
I took a character to cr98, and she became horrifically insane as a result of her twisted view of the world in the top 1% . A gold plated zeppelin was one of her obsessions.
That Damn River Boat of hers....
Referring to this era of history as "The Dark Ages" is such a Eurocentric idea. The year 950 was smack dab in the middle of what is known as the Golden Age of Islamic Science. Anytime Leofrick is struggling to lead a group of illiterate peasants across a field of mud, I just want to picture a Family Guy style cutaway to a bunch of academics in Baghdad having a wonderful time in a peaceful, technologically advanced city.
42 Points in fighting with a chainsaw... GROOVY! 😎
Ashy Slashy would be proud!
Just don't fumble a pushed roll
And ask the Keeper if it is pointless to shoot it and if it is better to hide and run
Little packages of death is a lovely phrase
Running is so really important
When Roll20 acts up i hit d100 about 20 times to remove the hex. . For physical dice, they go in the box of shame. Back to back 100 will be a slow death in the microwave.
Author of their own Destruction!
More necessary than swim
Good advice
Doing shorts now?!
Yup. a little series to help folks think more about their skill choice!
Only in CoC would a librarian or collector of old trinkets become a hero of an RPG.
This is such a great series, I'd love to see more of these.
Stay tuned! All being well this weekly series will continue through the year!
This was incredibly helpful, its always hard to find clear and concise aid videos for CoC let along Pulp. Do you plan on doing more with Pulp Cthulhu?
Thank you! Glad it was useful as making a Pulp character can be so daunting but they so fun to play! And yes, I'll be making a couple if the 'Lovecraftian' series characters into Pulp heroes because... well, Pulp is awesome!
I think as a game players need to accept that element of chance works both ways and sometimes it works against you
And of course how many characters made it out of a mythos story unscathed!
interesting but youd think there would be more extreme modifiers for old age as during that period 30 years old was considered old!. Thanks for the upload though
Very much the kind of person that would end up getting published on the Repository in the Modern Era.
