Watching from New Orleans. Who would wear a wig in this heat and humidity. Why wear long wigs. Mist women cut their hair at the breasts, never really longer. So why wigs unusually long, dragging on the ground?

Over 60% of women are losing their hair no matter the race. black women's hair is the most difficult to control. So a combination of both makes the shave and wig popular. But media makes everything racist for political fraud. Even though it makes no sense as everyone alive been free to do whatever they want their whole life. The video even go so far to define beauty for you. Stupid cause me and all my guy friends disagree on what beauty is. I like Black thick hair. Some homies like redheads some homies like blondes. Some think thin is sexy and some want thick all over.

Women with beautiful hair don't wear wigs because they don't need to. How many Caucasian, Asian, and Hispanic women in their 20's and 30's wear wigs, weaves, or extentions? If you supposedly have such wonderful hair, why would you cover it up with fake dead hair. Fake hair that looks so obviously fake and unnatural. Don't clowns wear wigs for a reason? To look comical and to incur laughter.

"Why do so many Blk women wear wigs and weaves" because their real hair looks horrible, because their mommas destroyer their hair putting relaxers, products, and tight braids in it before their hair matured causing receding hairlines and brittle slow growing hair. This also explains why Blk men hair grows effortlessly, even though we come from the same parents, why because momma left our hair alone compared to our sisters.

As a black woman, I can say the problem starts when we are classified as "exotic", or when our natural hair is seemed as uneven, or dirty and maltreated, when it's not the case at all. I wore my natural hair for three years, before using certain products to make my hair pattern become more loose. My treatment overall got better than it was, when I had my 100% natural hair, only using creams and styling it. I feel like many black women, knowing it or not, are constantly battling between being their authentic self and erasing parts of themselves to fit in society standarts. I know there's the practicality factor too, but I'm not talking about it here.

.... A subconscious need to look like white women, because apparently that is the high percentage solution to getting a black man of worth. Hey, don't shoot the messenger. It's what a lot of people think, but can't say out loud. Can't rub 2 cents together but I'll kill shopkeepers to steal a weave that will make me look like 'Suzy Q' since that's what 'most' successful Black men want (apparently). Don't get me started on black women who wear blonde wigs... Or the ridiculous weaves seen in the work place such as game time in the WNBA.

I learned that I like small knotless braids with extensions added only. I am simple and don't like too many different styles. The added hair makes it stay in longer otherwise I wouldn't have bothered getting hair added. I got them for 3.5 years back to back with only a one day break in between each time and I liked it a lot aside from having to sit for 8 - 12 hours each time and the feeling that it was not natural. I don't even wear false eyelashes, fake nails, or even too much make up. It was convenient, easy and a good protective style for faster hair growth and healthier hair. My own hair has definitely grown a lot faster and has gotten thicker compared to several years ago before I started. I am glad I made the decision to do it but decided it was time to stop. Over the past 6 months or so I have been embracing my own hair entirely and like it that way also. I will probably keep it this way for the long haul. I decided I am going to stay away from weave because it feels too unnatural plus it's expensive and I have to sit for so long as I only got small size knotless braids within those 3.5 years. I do think black women should embrace their own hair more in general. I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail mostly and to minimize heat only use heat about once per week. My hair is not perfect but its healthy, thick, dark and an okay length and I am grateful for that. I embrace my own hair without adding anything unnatural although sometimes I do miss the braids but not enough to get them again anytime soon. If my hair gets damaged or something or starts falling out I would consider getting weave again possibly. Nothing wrong with people that do want to wear weaves and wigs all the time though. I just prefer being as natural looking as possible. I have gotten pulled aside by people who say they love how I look so natural. I know some people have challenges with their hair but maybe it could help to try a hair growth supplement, exfoliating the scalp, investing in a good quality shampoo and conditioner, regular trims, wearing a bonnet or scarf at night, using a silk pillowcase, keeping it moisturized, and avoiding manipulating it too much (which is why I just wear it in a ponytail mostly aside from heat once a week). I know some people have health conditions that cause hair loss and they can't control it which is justifiable to wear weaves and wigs in that case. Also, I have been getting keratin treatments every 2 to 3 months which I think helps a lot too. If my hair gets damaged or starts falling out for whatever reason I am going to give up entirely and just get dread locks for the rest of my life.

This will go over a lot of people’s heads… but I’m a black woman myself with natural hair and I get why some of us prefer to wear wigs. However, I do wonder why we wear wigs that is anything unlike our natural hair texture and say “oh it’s to be versatile”. Why does wearing straight wigs equate to versality. Because deep down, we find straight hair or hair with looser hair pattern easier to manage than our own hair. Some may say “I want to wear a wig so my hair can grow”. But the question is, why must you feel the need to cover your hair provided you don’t have any visible hair issues. We are the only race in this entire world with different hair. Nobody grows hair like us. We are unique. Our hair was meant to be different. Our hair is versatile by our own standard. We don’t have to wear straight wigs to be versatile but for some reason we want to be like everyone else. Again, I get why we wear wigs because it’s easier to manage. It’s only easier to manage because we refuse to let our hair be. We don’t allow our hair to be what it is because we have a clear imagine of what we want our hair to look like. And so, rather than embracing it we mould it to fit the image we have in our head. This action unfortunately has caused many black sisters to damage their hair to the point they are now forced to wear wigs. Then you have some people who have beautiful hair but still want to wear wigs all the time.. like wear frontal wigs and glue a whole wig on their scalp in the name of “versatility”. Why? It’s because of a look/image they have in their minds they want to attain. If we took the time to learn what our hair likes and appreciate it for what it is, we would never say “it’s hard to manage”. Our hair is just different, unique and misunderstood. Black hair is one of the most beautiful hair yet one of the most misunderstood hair.

Every time they show a black woman slipping and falling down a flight of steps or doing a flip into the pool, that wig on her head flies straight off..... It's very rare that they show y'all failing in other ways and I was wondering if a vast majority of you (American) wear fake hair. Off the record, they also show black obese people racing each other and then falling over themselves (something I now predict every time now). In other words, they show black people fail in typical ways while whites and other races fail in a varietal way.

I'm sick and tired of the cultural appropriation of the good, straight hair of White snd Asian women by a certain demographic who steadfastly uses the hair of White and Asian women within their wigs and weaves. For example, Joy Reid, Maxine Waters, Beyonce, and nearly every neighbor and coworker everywhere who falls within said demographic. ATTENTION LADIES OF THE 13%: STOP CULTURALLY APPROPRIATING THE GOOD HAIR OF WHITE AND ASIAN WOMEN WITHIN YOUR WIGS AND WEAVES. THEY FIND YOUR MISAPPROPRIATION HIGHLY OFFENSIVE.

Im a black woman who had a father with long natural hair who made me feek beautiful naturally without the straight hair. I would feel so mortified if i allowed other races to feel like i want to be them by wearing hair, assimilating into their phenotype and failing at it cause all straight weaves look fake on black women. The last thing you want to do is deal with hair that is difficult to manage. Cant just wash and go like other races of people.
