The Philosophy and Mindset of Defensive Driving
There are many good videos about defensive driving. They give concrete actions and suggestions on how to drive safely. However what i notice is that they don't talk about the philosophy or mind set of defensive driving. I will do that in this video.

    Water tanks with bladders or diaphragms should be banned. Ours was a diaphragm tank (from a very reputable and well known company) and apparently the materials used for the bladders and diaphragms slowly degrade over time and leach out toxic materials into the water. They claimed the materials used are "food grade" and "safe" but the laboratory tests proved that is completely untrue. If you're going to buy a tank, ONLY get the old style stainless steel pressure tanks. They are the safest.

    The last solution presented has some issues. For one, having the pump powered by two separate switches, on two different outlets, with conductors bonded together could become a hazard. The flow detector switch will need to be sized properly and pull from the same circuit as the pressure switch, possibly using pigtails. Another option is to use isolated switches to independently close a normally open relay. The relay will control the pump. The second issue is that the flow detector switch will keep the pump running with any flow, say 1 GPM. If your pump is a 10 GPM pump, it will outrun the demand and build destructive pressure. You will need to make sure your pump cannot develop pressures higher than your system components can handle. Most pressure tanks have a max psig rating of 100. Some go as high as 150. Commercial options can go much higher. Typically, tank manufactures require a pressure relief valve somewhat less than the tank's rated pressure, such as 75PSI. If your pump builds pressure beyond this, then the relief valve opens. Let's also not forget, that typical pumps have a minimum runtime. This may be one minute. Your pressure tank needs to be sized to allow your pump to run for its minimum runtime. This allows the motor to cool. Short cycling will burn up the motor.

    Cavitation in the pump head! If a pump water flow is restricted, such as with a CSV, it creates pressure in the head of the pump which will cause cavitation and diminish the life of the pump head.

    When electricity was much cheaper, I used to heat my house using 2 3kw radiators wired in series. This would do 2 things:- 1 being the heat output would be half of one radiator, each radiator would now consume only 750 watts a total of half the original amount of the original single radiator. 2nd is that the life span of each radiator is pretty much limitless as they don't get anywhere near as hot as they were designed for. The benefits were quite staggering because not only half of the electricity is being consumed but the heat output, even though halved was spread around and heated the house much more effectively! I used to wire up Christmas lights with a few extra bulbs in series to make them last for years, I have a set still working that is over 20 years old now :)

  • @jojopornebo188
    @jojopornebo188 29 днів тому

    I just thought about a better way to protect the pump and save electricity; the new refrigerators now use inverter technology upon which the speed of the pump is controlled when there is lower demand. IMO, a CSV after the tank (not on the tank junction) will provide constant flow and pressure, while the pump can be reduced in speed when there is a high level water in a big tank. It will need water level meters in various heights of the tank and maybe also a feedback control from the CSV will tell the pump to speed up or slow down. It is getting more electronic and complicated in this method, but in electronics, feedback makes a system very efficient. The problem with mechanical machines is that they are prone to wear and tear and difficult to employ feedback mechanisms.

    Your missing something. And I get your shairing what you know but... My galvenized vertical tank has a port/bung on its side where there is a pressure guage and a plunger float thingie. Its operation is to bleed off air pressure after each draw. Thus avoiding the waterlogging issues. Also Its outlet to the house is about 3" above the inlet from the well. For me it acts to collect or trap setement. I have noticed hard water stains are showing up much quicker over the past year or so and i believe its because the 3" setement trap is full. Ill have to spend the afternoon clearing that out. Its prob taken 15years to build up. Edit: I should add, when my well turns on I hear air bubbles being pushed into the tank for a few seconds. I believe when the well shuts off, the water in the supply line drains back into the well. Maybe bc its below the frost line.

    Funny seeing this. Earlier today found out some super cheapo Chinese batteries leaked out in my kitchen timer. Corroded connections. Had to clean it up, and luckily still works. At least it counted time the same as my other timer for the 30 minute test. I usually throw the cheapo Chinese batteries away, and even the more expensive (also Chinese made) brand name batteries now leak sooo often, can't use in anything you don't want to get ruined. The major brands have leak so much more often now, so much so that have to use lithium batteries in my good flashlights and other stuff.

    Ya... my dad got VERY messed up from the injections. Day after bad leg pain. Day after dropped and couldn't recover, had to be ambulanced in. Happened again later. Then, and don't ask me why, or how it got passed me, but he actually got the second dose. In theory he should have been asked about negative reactions and disallowed. Immediately after, dropping and ambulances happened several times in just a couple weeks. Malfunctioning heart. They put in a pace maker. Dropped again. They figured the pace maker (2 leads) was either malfunctioning, or leads weren't placed quite right. Second surgery, same model. No change. They then had to put in yet another, but the oversized model, with 3 leads. Went from no heart troubles, to needing the oversized model of pace maker, in just a few months. But leg pain the day after indicates it was attacking his nervous system, which makes sense, since the spike proteins contained in those injections are neurotoxins....

    My pump pumps water at the well head at 25 gallons per minute with no tank with a 240 hook up. And t fills my 35 gallon bladder tank in about 1.5 minutes. So my question is how does this thing work? There's no wires so it can't slow the pump down. My pump bypass pressure is 80 lbs so it can't be pumping through the bypass valve at the pump if the gauge says 50 lbs. And if I install one, and it's only supplying a demand of 1.5 gallons per minute, wouldn't that take about 15 minutes to fill my pressure tank back up? And if the pump is backing up through the 80 lbs pressure bypass, wouldn't that put an extreme amount of pressure on the motor? None of this makes sense.

  • @th7480

    For a true comparison, you would have to add all of these scenarios together. Nobody that turns on their tap 20 times using 1 gallon of water that’s ridiculous. Probably half of those maybe 1 gallon. So what you need to do is add all your scenarios together and average it out to see if the advantage of constant pressure outweighs whatever excess energy or pump cycling is. In the end I think you were probably even.

    • @th7480

      I have a 119 gallon tank with a draw down of 35 gallons. In a course of an evening home, I wash my hands about 5 times, 8 to 10 minute shower, toilet 3 times, fill dog water dish, and grab a couple 8 once swigs of water. The wife about the same plus rinsing food or utensils. I doubt the pump comes on more than twice. With the CSV, it sounds like it would come on about 15 to 20 times.

    • @CraigTucker-dg6is
      @CraigTucker-dg6is 2 місяці тому

      You are correct. You will get constant pressure, but Like the old saying, says you don’t get something for nothing. And that something is the motor coming on and off much more frequently and reduced pump life. You will get constant pressure though.

  • @CraigTucker-dg6is
    @CraigTucker-dg6is 2 місяці тому

    You are incorrect in your assessment as your simulation of a restricted motor does not translate into a motor that is attached to an impeller that moves water. The motor is only receiving the resistance from the impellers. If you shut the flow of water, then no work is being done. Thus the motor will spin faster and do less work, which will equate to less power consumption. As an example, it’s the exact same scenario as when you put your hand over the end of the vacuum and the motor speeds up. The vacuum is not pulling a vacuum that’s the motor is doing less work, which means less electricity being used.

    I don't know if this will help you Professor but with respect to string tension if the tension is low the strings will have a trampoline effect means the ball will have more pace (faster). Now when the strings have more tension the pace will be less pace (slower) With this understanding the balls could work the same way. In which case the ball that's newly open is more stable and that's what we call is an old ball is not deflated but more inconsistent in its bounce.

    Sometimes defensive driving is a bad things as we become more conscious than required, our focus is just on one thing but it increases the error possibility (especially true for those who can't handle stressful situations) as focus consumes a lot of energy and it also slows down our decision making capability.
