about the debt part, i think with all the data and alien technology we learn from the planet was JUST enough to paid of our debt, which inturn make us free of debt, but we gain nothing (maybe we do gain some fame about encountering alien species and survive, as well as being a pioneer about new technology, that's just my speculation, so take it as a grain of salt)

It’s still hilarious to me years later, that the seemingly meaningless message you receive from your PDA towards the start of the game telling you that everything you take and use to survive is technically owned by Alterra and that you’re being charged for it, comes back to haunt you at the end of the game.

Keep in mind at that time the next game wasn't even confirmed! Kinda proud of that one tbh. I definitely have never made a better prediction in my life lol
