You are Doing Pull Ups WRONG and Here is WHY
Переглядів 188 тис.Рік тому
Pull-ups are one of the most common functional bodyweight exercises you can do and one of the hardest to nail. Pulling your body weight up to a bar takes serious strength, technical ability and shoulder mobility, so it’s no surprise that it’s hard to achieve and equally easy to get wrong. While the payoff is huge for strength gains, the risk of injury is high unless you’ve locked down your tech...

I tell you what, Im 41 and can do 7 to 10 L shit chin ups and pull ups, let me tell you, it took me 1.5 years to achieve this bit the reaction I would get at the gym by young bucks that in their 20s and cannot do what I do is totally worth the hard work that I have out in lol and beside the fun, I feel amazing and look healthy for being 41, I feel like I am in my 30s again if not younger. So if your in your 40s and want to do something impressive and all eyes are on you, work on your L sit pull ups for a year or two and have fun at the gym! 😂

*question* i can do palm facing narrow grip pull up easily and i go way up into the sky. but normal pull up is just tough, i barely do a total of 5 reps even with rest in between. so can i actually make myself stronger and do more pull ups by doing more narrow grip palm facing pull ups? thanks so much.

I've been struggling with pull-ups for a while, but I think I might switch to chin-ups to build up my strength first.

Believe or not, chin ups can be as hard as pull ups, especially in the excentric phase. It all depends on how you move your arms. If you pull your wrists towards you like in a curl, of course it's gonna be easier since you are involving your biceps. But if you pull your elbows like in a row, trust me, it's not gonna feel any easier than pull ups.

All depends on the goal. I work on pull ups as they seem more appropriate to sport climbing, which is my training goal. I'm not interesting in bulking up for no functional reason.

I'm amazed that people don't emphasize the grip more. The grip should be thumb wrapped around the bar and knuckles point up to the ceiling. So the back of your hand is perpendicular to the floor. That grip allows one to activate the chain of muscles that begin in the hand and travel up the arm.

I wrecked my rightside of my higherback muscles and shoulder and triceps. I did explosive chin ups and pull ups. I even pushed down when I was up. I felt some kind of suppression in the gym it felt like competive eyes. It was my new method and I liked it. I think i got the injury because the body was not supported as usual. It feels like fundamental and natural energy and strength are gone as if it has been taken from me. I hope I will recover fast because I like it the explosive way my back immedeately started to grow it was spectacular. I am sensitive to things that happen in a specific environment the way that they are experienced in that environment I don't like it when it is too overwhelming and exluding my own method and energy that i rely on. Some gyms are chaotic and crowded some are dull and sedating and some are dynamic and energizing. And mixtures of those together. The body reacts to that.

I wrecked my rightside by doing explosive chin ups and pull ups. I think the body was not supported by the strength that I needed entirely. I really pulled with short bursts I could handle it untill it hit a weak spot. that I did not expect. I hope the injury is temporarely because i liked it the explosive way. I noticed some sort of suppression by my surroundings at the gym when I started my new method. Competitive eyes perhaps.

Chin ups are Un natural. No Animal on earth moves UP from under a limb. Pull Ups are the organic form of natural strength building for "climbing up and over", as well as rising above and "Over". Sure chin ups will develop biceps But I do other curls to do that.

Chin ups are best because after back and my chin ups I go right to biceps so I don’t need pull ups lol I use to do them all but no need when I go right to bicep’s and can target the back better before biceps

At first i was only able to do 5x3 partial chin up, now 5x5 full ROM. How should i progress? Should i make it 5x6, 5x8, 5x10, then maybe 2x25 finally 1x50? Will this increase intensity? Thanks.
