WOSOP I'm a Scottish creator based in Glasgow and pure heavy love cycling and telling stories.
I've lived most of my life in Scotland and have travelled it a fair bit which is what my first bike touring video are all about. A couple of years ago my partner and I cycled from Paris to Athens over 6months! Expect lots of vlog videos about that! I'm interested in travelling, exploring and most importantly story telling.
Subscribe if you like videos about funny stories, big cycling adventures and very loose comedy videos.
I upload every week on Wednesdays.
Thanks for watching!

A minimal gear list to film your bicycle touring adventures (or other trips)
Переглядів 4093 роки тому
Don't want to take hunners of cameras, cables and nonsense that's going to weigh you down and you probably won't use? I've got a guide to a minimal gear list that will help you film any adventure without it getting in the way of having fun. Going bicycle touring, hiking, expeditions - whatever, you don't want to be bogged down with so much stuff that you spend more time faffing with it than cap...
Why filming your first adventure can ruin it
Переглядів 3063 роки тому
Your first big adventure, your first big trip, your voyage to the great outdoors - whatever it is - is sacred! In this video, I've set out why I'd urge you not to vlog everyday of it, not to worry about filming absolutely everything but to live in the moment and focus on having new experiences. I've found that when I focus on filming with the intention of creating content, it can really hinder ...
Let's go wild camping in Scotland
Переглядів 2333 роки тому
A short vibe on finally going camping again in Scotland. After our 6 month bicycle touring adventure all round Europe, we sort of just settled into normal life and it would take us almost a year and a half before we'd get back out to our favourite camp spot. I love living in Glasgow cause it's so easy to escape the city! I don't care how great some other big cities are if you can't get to the w...
Mountain Equipment Helium 600 Sleeping Bag Review

I reviewed the Mountain Equipment Helium 600 Sleeping bag! Spoiler, it's excellent. I tested it in late September in Scotland with an overnight temperature of about 1 degrees celsius and I can confirm I was especially toastie. In this video I'll go over first impressions, test it out at my favourite camping spot and also show you how small you can pack it down to. It's a little bit bigger than ...
Loving and hating Athens | Bicycle Touring Greece

Athens! We’d made it, whilst we’d been forced to take the train and skip part of it due to some very frustrating tendonitis… we’d reached the capital of Greece and our last destination where we’d fly home to Scotland. I love and hate Athens, it's amazing, it's dirty, it's full of scabby hippies, bin fires and some of the most amazing cultural sites on the planet. You can get amazing coffee, foo...
Exploring Fakistra Beach | Bicycle Touring Greece

The peninsula of Pelion on the east coast of Greece is home to some of the nicest beaches in the world and an absolute must see destination. Leaving from Meteora, we were only a few days cycling from Volos where we'd then set to round the peninsula to the eastern coastal town of Tsagkarada where we'd booked a week at a beautiful AirBnB. The bicycle touring was wonderful as always, the supply of...
Meteora is a MUST see! | Bicycle Touring Greece
Переглядів 5233 роки тому
Meteora is an incredible sight to behold. Nestled into the side of mountainous areas on mainland Greece, the pinnacles and bizzare rock formations appear to come out of nowhere, and plopped on top some spectactular monasteries. It's no wonder they used them for a Bond Villain set! We'd been cycling through Greece and were now pivoting towards the east coast where we'd booked an airbnb. That gav...
Falling in love with Greece | Bicycle touring Greece
Переглядів 1,4 тис.3 роки тому
After less than a week in Greece, we'd fallen in love. Mainland Greece is amazing for bicycle touring, not only is every small town full of life and totally buzzing, the roads are so quiet. You can be nestled in the mountains on a massive A-road with no other cars, no people - just dogs, goats and cows. This area of Northern Greece has a very new motorway network which has drawn all the traffic...
Wildcamping in Greece | Bicycle touring Greece | European Bike Tour

We’d finally made it to Greece! After 5 months, starting from France, we were now in the last country of the trip. I've always wanted to bicycle tour Greece since I went there as a kid, but I'd mainly been to the islands, never to the mainland. We entered into the country over the border in Macedonia Greece and Bulgaria. We climbed into the mountains above Serres for some sneaky stealth camping...
Why Sofia is the best city! | Bicycle touring Bulgaria | European Bike Tour

WE LOVE SOFIA! It's 100% one of my favourite capitals for a city break. I came in 2016 and two years later, still absolutely love it. It's lovely to walk around and it has great coffee spots, pubs with nice beer, beautiful architecture and churches and of course more cheap beer. The Rainbow Factory is defo one of the reasons Sofia is the best city for me, traditional food with a modern twist = ...

We’d spent a few days travelling down the coast of Bulgaria and we were ready to hit the road west and traverse all aboot the Balkan Mountains which pretty much spans the length of Bulgaria and beyond. When you can't find a place to camp because of sex workers... | The Black Sea Coast

The Black Sea is a wild and sometimes desolate place. We'd left the comforts of the flat in Navodari and were following the road down past Constanta. The roads were quiet, dusty and you get constantly buffeted by the wind. I didn't mind, it felt like an adventure, in a new land. Vama Veche was somewhere people had continuously recommended. Maybe cause we're travelling on touring bicycles, peopl...

Our bicycle tour had now taken us over the transfagarasan pass and into Transylvania. It’s a really great area to visit by bike, we had a great time exploring Rasnov and Brasov before heading back over the Carpathian mountains. The route we took goes through the Putna Vrancea national park, it’s really beautiful and the large wide roads with hardly any cars was a total dream to cycle. The route...

Film it for practice. No one said you ever have to show it to anyone.
If you’re here in 2024 I have the ME Helium 800 got recently and I use it for my bikepacking and backpacking. Great bag and company. Quality built and feels like a warm cloud even at low temperatures in the snow. Get a “ SEA TO SUMMIT” Evac waterproof compression bag will help make it smaller and protect the bag
Thieves abound unless you're in the boondocks where there are far fewer low-life, loser thieves.
So how did a bag perform? How did non hydrophobic down performed? I xant find sizing on ME website which is shame..
It si not Balkan mountains but Стара планина (Stara planina mountain). Balkan is Turkish name of that Bulgarian mountain given by Turks during the Osmano-Turkish occupation and genocide of Bulgaria.
Thanks for showing the pack size
amazing trip. i saw my hometown, Braila. cheers!
I'm thinking to get one for alpine hiking in Tasmania (kind of similar weather to Scotland).
I have pictures of Ninu if you’d like
I live in Calvi and am a cyclist from Seattle. The dog’s name is Ninu, we had a garden in the clos. Ninu is an amazing dog. All the places you were cycling are my regular routes. Glad you enjoy Corsica.
which inlay/inlet can i buy to protect and warm up my helium 600??
Still sitting here waiting for 2021...
that "cooking fuel" is used as disinfectant alcohol in romania. That brand used to be a meme because stories about people filtering Mona through bread and drinking it spread around:) Nice video! Hope you liked Romania!
Go in your shitthy banlieu francais full of africans and camp there if you have the courage you stupid french turds! Sick of being in Romania after one month?!!Two poor paisant from France without money in pockets wants to be treat like ..masters.. in a banana country!Ha...romanians dont give a shit for you!!

When is your next adventure?
The adventures of parenting
@@YAMSWORLD congratulations! I am very happy for you! Your little one will have lots of videos of his parents to enjoy
Thank you! We're planning a trip the other way around and you guys gave us some nice inspiration! Ps. Rebuild
You just gave me hope in developing some old film that I'm fairly sure has pictures of a good friend who just passed away. Thank you for this video
I’m sorry to hear that and very hopeful you’re able to develop the film!
Wonderful video! Very good info for 2023!
Thank you!
The point is to take a sweet fruit and make it savory to then make a sauce with it
I can’t say I put a lot of thought into this beyond just PLUMS
Tremendous video and interesting book! I'm looking to cover a fermented plum recipe too, so thanks for your inspiration. I've actually seen this before and found it very entertaining and insightful in terms of failing a recipe. This helps, as I don't want to waste my harvest of plums. Keep up the great work. Hibb
Thank you!
Its Scotland, its a Loch, like ( Loch lomond ) we don't have lakes.
Lake Lomond
@@YAMSWORLD the Loch District
Yes that's what they call it
Where did you get your little stove?…I am going outer Hebrides end August….loving your videos 👍
It's a Swedish stove thing called a Trangia, got it from amazon I believe. It worked really well for us, not as fast as a gas burner for heating water but works just as well. It uses methylated spirits which is usually purple and available in camping and DIY shops. We were able to find it all over Europe but not always the easiest, defo found some in the hebrides too. Great if you like cooking, and light and easy to clean.
@@YAMSWORLD thanks so much il have a wee look on Amazon 👍🏼
Currently researching for a bike tour across Romania and this is really helpful, so thanks for your impressions of this country! I realize you did your trip in 2018. Have you been to Romania ever since? Any idea what or how much has changed since?
Hello, no trips since then so don't know whats different but I imagine not a lot except for any covid restrictions
A route called "via transilvanica" opened up. It goes through rural villages, near monuments, castles, medieval churches, mounrtain trails from the southwest at the Decebal rock statue up until northeast at a monastery. It could be worth checking some parts of it out for a bike tour.
Good journey 😍😍😍
Thanks!
I am 183 cm tall that isabout 6 feet, is the 190cm version big enough?
I have the Helium 400 in regular size (192cm) and I am 186 cm. It just about fits but there is not much room left. Its target is to be as light as possible so it will be a snug fit anyways regarding width.
Slovenia is not balkan
Ok doke
"Kissing pictures" is an Orthodox Christian way of admiring their holy icons of saints. It's a religious and a cultural thing. Some ignorant people might consider it gross, even in "pre-c0v1d times". No wonder your channel never took off. You're a spoiled millennial little boy... Good riddance!
Good for them, I still think it's gross.
*They ate all my food". 😆. The look on his face, haha! I'm planning a cycling trip through Italy and southern France, might ride along the Po for awhile, I also get bored with flat roads but it might be alright for a few days.
A while ago, but really interesting. Well done for showing some of your 'embarrassing footage' - we've all done that (and still do it)!!. You are of course correct about the space it takes. I did a little trip around suffolk, and although I had a gopro + mounts I didn't take it. Used that space for cheese, wine and cider.
Much better use of space :)
I got this. It’s warm and feels great. But not including a compression bag is a big minus. This bag could be compressed to half the pack volume with a proper compression bag
Super 👍
Hey, thinking of doing similar tour soon (only Balkan - starting from Zagreb). Is it possible to find somewhere your route…?
There's no where with specifics but we travelled east from Zagreb along a very long (boring road to reach the Danube which we followed through Serbia right to Romania, we stayed near the mountains but crossed over the Transfagarasan pass intro transilvania, then from Târgu Secuiesc we pass back over the mountains east and travelled to Braila, from there we followed the coast to Varna in Bulgaria. Then we followed the Balkan mountains through places like Kotel, Elena, Gabrovo, eventually joining the Iskar river which we took to Sofia. After that we stayed in the hills and went south to Greece, passin the border near Exochi. Hope that helps! Romania and Bulgaria mountains were great. Lots of fresh water coming out the hills to keep you cool and hydrated!
I lived in Calvi for 5 years love the place and went back to tour the island in 2019 fantastic
Are you alive? I just discovered your channel, hope you are ok.
Wow that shot with the mist at 5 min is incredible, great video!
You really should be careful when listening to what someone says about their new sleeping bag. What matters is how it works after a longer hike (1 month+) and having been compressed every day.
What’s the folding chair you take camping with you mate? Thanks 🙏
We bought Trekology yizi Go, they are cheaper versions of the Helinox ones which are super lightweight. I was just checking on amazon and seems like there are more options and cheap too. Ours weight about a kilo. 100% worth it
Did you roll up the bag to get it packed into the small bag if you rolled it into the bag?
Wuuuuut? I just stuff it , no rolling
@@YAMSWORLD I’ve just bought this sleeping bag based on your video. Okay thanks, I wasn’t too sure if like you’d roll it up into the smaller sack to try and get the size down. Thanks ma man
Putting a strap or bungee round the front wheel and the down tube holds the front wheel straight making the bike more stable.
Good tip!
great review. i'm buying the sleeping bag right now, no joke. :D
Interesting details!
Thx for that great video and test of this sleeping bag! Question: what's that green pullover at the end of the video? looks nice - is it a merino one?
I believe it's just regular wool., And I'm actually not sure where I got it from !
How come you can feature full songs and other vloggers are panickjng if even a snippet of music appears in their videos?
My channel isn't monetised so there's no issue if the videos get copyright infringement which all of this series did. UA-cam allows you to keep the video up and I think can out ads on your video and the money goes to the music publisher. It would only be an issue if I was doing this full time and for main income
I saw in another video (about a recipe from the same book, using blueberries!) that if you don't use organic ones, there may well not be enough of the good bacteria on the fruits of the skins to get the reaction going properly. So that would have allowed a window of time for other microbes to take hold.
Thinking back on making this, it was such a bad attempt that it's no real surprise it was such a fail. Hopefully next year there a good harvest of plums from my dad's tree to try again! And that would certainly be organic :)
It is Central Europe and not the Balkans!!!!!
Great stuff, will watch your other cycle episodes. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your kind comment!
Damn you two are miserable! Always complaining, moaning about the journey, moaning about the other tourers, get a grip! And 10:24 why is the dog whimpering? Did you kick it for marking itself on your bike? It thought you were a friend to be protected, what did you expect a dog to do?
Ah I can’t delete my comments for some reason. Just checked out your channel and you announced you’re stopping, and you seemed sad. I hope life has gotten better since you made that decision man. I’m sorry I said those miserable things myself, bit hypocritical when I’m telling you to be more positive!
The way you've commented says much more about you than us mate. You've ignored all the times we're laughing and having a great time, finding one of the best places to camp and sharing a night with fun new friends. If I actually kicked that dog he'd have bitten my leg off as it was giant haha. My life is great, I didn't stop, just took a break to raise our kid, thanks for apologising, I hope you're life gets better.
Damn 1:05 is your girlfriend serious? How disrespectful and snarky, I would have told her that’s unacceptable. Red flag bro.
She's being sarcastic, but thank you SO much for the red flag bro, I'll make sure I keep an eye out in case she's disrepectful bro 👌
@@YAMSWORLD seems like you two are a good fit for each other!
I am planning next Summer's bike trip to visit my grandma in Greece and I am looking for any youtube video of someone crossing remotely close to the border between N.Macedonia and Greece. Not in my wildest fantasy did I expect to stumble upon you mentioning and commenting about the village of Rodopolis, only 3 km from where my grandma lives. WATCHING INTENSIFIES!
Glad you found it! It was a beautiful part of Greece to cycle :)
Well, you were just unlucky.
