Mallorca Magic
A May 2024 holiday to Puerto de Soller in NW Mallorca, Spain resulted in 6 dives over 3 days in the local waters. Marine life prolific with reefs, massive boulders, trenches, tunnels and caves to explore. With underwater visibility around 25-30metres there was plenty to see and enjoy. Well worth a visit.

Dive on Tapti
Переглядів 193Рік тому
An August diving weekend by members of Clydebank Sub Aqua Club (CSAC) took us to the wreck of SS Tapti at the SE corner of the Island of Coll, in the inner Hebrides. Here is a 6 minute video featuring CSAC divers and lots of colourful fish, mainly Pollock Ballan wrasse and male & female Cuckoo wrasse.
Red Sea Coral Garden

A recent holiday to the Marsa Alam area of the Red Sea found me diving in water of 22 degrees C and 30-40 metres underwater visibility with many different varieties of tropical fish and corals. I hope you'll enjoy the tranquility of this 15 minutes video.
Eyemouth Highlights #DiveWithBSAC

A very short video featuring the highlights of 2 dives at Eyemouth, on the south-east coast of Scotland. One of our group, Gordon Anderson, spotted a delightful Octopus, which posed for the camera.
Adam's Reef & Stallion Rock May 23
Переглядів 132Рік тому
A short video featuring the spectacular Loch Fyne cliff faces at "Adam's Reef" and "Stallion Rock". These reefs drop almost vertically in places, to a depth of 32 metres and then a steep muddy/sandy slope to much deeper. The underwater visibility on this particular day was 10-15metres. Though not many fish around, the "still life" was also quite rewarding.

A winter dive at Drishaig Reefs on Loch Fyne, just to keep ourselves "dive fit" during this cold winter. It's also a good excuse to call in at the Loch Fyne Brewery, at the head of the loch, just for hot coffees of course!! Surprised to see plenty young Pollock.
Night Dive Delights

A short 3 minutes video showing some of the colourful creatures which can be seen on a Night Dive and how they can be much more approachable than during the day. Featuring juvenile Pollock, Codling, Scorpionfish, Prawn and Bobtail Squid also known as Cuttlefish. Filmed at St Catherines, Loch Fyne, Scotland.

One of the great aspects about diving in Scotland, is that you can often go for a Night Dive .................... in the middle of the Day!?! The colours can be particularly vivid!

A Fine Finnart Dive

It's another short video taken at Finnart, Loch Long, but there is often something of interest at this very popular dive site. This time it was a rather bold Corkwing Wrasse, determined to stand its ground against 2 divers with cameras and bright lights.

This is one of the best diving sites in Loch Leven, on the west coast of Scotland. Best dived on a flooding neap tide to avoid serious current issues. The soft corals thrive on the nutrients brought in by the currents. This short video shows off the colourful underwater scenery!!

    I was there in 1998 and it still stands out as the most spectacular diving I have ever had the pleasure to do. Didn't see any porpoise or reef sharks but I did get to see a few hammerheads swim by. Fantastic walls and they do drop off into oblivion. I went to 205' and there was no end to the depths so don't bother trying to find the bottom, there isn't one ; ). If you seek a luxury resort with a splashy high-energy atmosphere then you will be disappointed. If you want to find diving that will amaze you to the core like nothing you have seen then make the trip. I promise the journey will be worth it.

    Wow what an amazing looking dive. So much busy activity going on and you caught so much interesting behaviour of thie fish. It did seem at one point like a game of hide and seek lol. The barracudas were a bit scary. Ive heard they can be a bit aggresive at times. Visibility looked great. I have tk say that 'museum' was unbelievable. What a amamazing thing to be part of and so many thought provoking pieces. The peope on the boat and the citcle of twisted bodies got me..especially with whats going on in the world just now. You are all so lucky to see places like this. I dont know why scotland doesnt have something like that for divers or even snorkelers. Some great dives. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for taking us along. Take care 👍😃🤿👌

    Beautiful video as always Keith, thanks! It's always bugged me when people say "I don't want to dive in the UK, it's too cold" or "there isn't anything to see" etc. It's so ignorant and small minded, the beauty and biodiversity of the north east Atlantic is absolutely stunning. Just because the water isn't 22°C and there's no clownfish or turtles doesn't mean it's not worth a look!

    What's the max depth here?

    • @keith_waugh
      @keith_waugh Рік тому

      This is a popular training site. New trainee divers are often taken here for their first few dives. The seabed slopes gently from the surface down to around 40 metres and is mainly sand, rubble and mud. The only interest are parts of the submerged structure of the collapsed old pier. Visibility is often only around 3-4 metres. I was very lucky with visibility on the day I took this video. There is nothing of particular interest beyond about 25 metres. Bear in mind that the Finnart Deep Water Oil Tanker Terminal is literally 400 metres away!!!!

    • @jaimieboy999
      @jaimieboy999 Рік тому

      @@keith_waugh yeah I did think it would be pretty deep around where that tanker is. I'm looking somewhere with a bit of depth. You dived conger ally? I'm trying to plan a few trips up. I live in Dunbar south east and have the likes of st abbs ect. Is there anyone up that way I could buddy up with? I usual solo dive a lot but I want to have someone to share the experience with or has a bit of knowledge of the area so I don't spend most of the time lost underwater.

    • @keith_waugh

      @@jaimieboy999 I have dived "Conger Alley", it's actually called "Ali's Reef" on account of a friend of mine, Ali Abubakar, who, back in the 70's, built an artificial reef of old car tyres, to try to attract Conger Eels. It worked for quite a number of years. Most of my dives are with my Club, Clydebank Sub Aqua Club, or a group of retired friends from Scotsac. I suggest that you put a Facebook post on the "West Coast Divers" Facebook page, which attracts many divers, both club divers and independent (solo) divers. You are very lucky to be so close to St Abbs/Eyemouth. We don't get over there as often as I would like. Cheers
