Hi everyone, Euphie here. Just sharing some of the thoughts I have while struggling with months of job hunting. I was pretty optimistic about landing a software engineer position when the unemployment was fresh... But the fear and anxiety of not landing one started to kick in these past few weeks. I've started thinking about alternate career choices if this unemployment drags on longer. Do you ...

Hi everyone! I am here sharing my experience with a take-home assessment I completed while applying for a software engineer position. After putting in all that effort, I was really looking forward to hearing back from the interviewer. But guess what? There was no news. The silence has been frustrating and disappointing, I'm trying hard staying positive and keeping my spirits high. If you're goi...

Hi all, I just want to share with you the first two interviews I have gone through in the first three weeks of my job hunting. I was extremely thrilled to be shortlisted for interviews with two companies in the financial industry, as I have always been curious about working in this field. The recruiters told me that the interviews are very hard and many applicants didn't make it. I was hoping t...

I got laid off as a software engineer | Tech Layoffs 2024

I am sharing my experience getting laid off as a software engineer. It's a rollercoaster of emotions. I hope my story brings comfort to those that are facing the same situation now. You are not alone.
You got to do what you got to do. If you can't stand RTO you can always go back to remote work in a few years when the market returns back to normal
Congrats!
Welcome to the real world where most software engineers really do almost everything. So now you know that most big tech companies overhire and most people are underutilised.
Hope u've learnt smth during the period of uncertainties of unemployment. One opportunity passes, another opportunity comes. And u're the constant factor out of the uncharted and volatile waters.
I'm glad you finally landed a job, hoping to see more updates on new things you will be learning down the road!
You think you are tired now, wait until you turn 50. That is when the real fun begins.
:O covid made me get tired lately, I know its traits but I'm hoping I'll get better soon
Hope things go swell for you at your new job. If not, and you don't like what's going on, you should probably start looking for a new job ASAP. The good thing is you're in a better negotiating position if you have a job, which you do now. Best of luck either way! (And I'll keep following your channel)
So many red flags, Euphie! 😢 It sounds like you will be doing the work of 5 people. Working nights and weekends. And the 1 hour commute each way! On the plus side, you are employed. Many people are homeless and starving. Good luck.
congrats, I'm also an engineer and we shared the same surname. I'm pretty sure opportunities will come along your way soon. Stay optimistic, like your positive atitude :)
Love it for you congratulations
12 years Hehe🤣
Congratulations!!
Big congrats! I'm not in the tech industry but as a job seeker for almost a year, I understand what you are going through.
speaking of irrelevant test, previously when i was job searching got this agency who gave me online assessment. It's quite insane. They want you to turn on webcam and cannot alt +tab out of their test. the webcam is to prevent you from looking at other screen to prevent you from google searching. So there was this super basic sql qn and just nice i forget the syntax of adding 1 into the column so kinda like columnName++ and i cannot continue the test because of it. I think its quite stupid that you cannot even look up for the syntax during these test. it's just a 2min search on w3 school 😵 and sql was my forte for web development. I've helped my previous company design databases and migrated multi million data. Too bad for them. their loss. My current company was happy with me anyways and i manage to secure a pay raise this year too
I didn’t accept immediately so I can think about for a while. Less than one hour later… 🤔🤔🤔 I accept. Be honest, you wanted it but didn’t want to sound desperate 😂
congratulations!

Congrats!
what the heck traitor!
How long did it take
Very positive lady. You can do bigger role in the future to come.
U deserve better dignity due to ur effort and become these noble person to make our lives better.🎉🎉🎉
This is very sad when I see so talented people who have studied a lot to make our humans lives more comfortable being laid off like that and the other hand see that i became a worm and public parasyte in a corrupted job surrounded with people who dont aggregate any value to me or our society being only expenses through high taxes paid by the productive society. Next year, i decide to quit from my stable job and put an end in my pathetic life. Unfortunately the world in general is collapsing, right now, economically, socially, geopolitically with a climate change in hell fire. Now, our final objective in life will be SURVIVAL, not living with dignity and respect for human beings. See what is happening in Israel and Ukraine. SLAVA 🇺🇦 Shalom 🇮🇱
God bless me!
Congratulations! All the best to your future endeavours!
Live coding should be done in a way where one will exactly do his/her coding tasks daily with available resources instead of the old school cram with amazing memory and dont understand things fully, drink and spit it out dont always work.
Congratulations! :) You deserve it! <3
Thanks for sharing ur job experience!
As a developer myself I relate to this.. I found a few .NET 6 roles... with 6 years of experience required (For those who didn't know .NET 6 was released only in Nov 2021)
Congratulations and thanks for explaining all of the thoughts behind your decisions, are you based in the USA or another country?
Congrats! I am a fellow software engineer, do you have any socials we can connect over?
Kubernetes
Congratulations
Asked him "can I use ChatGPT?". 😂
Congratulations!!!
That interviewer is very realistic in offering you choices to do whatever you can to solve the problem even using Internet resources if needed. We all do that as well in practice...well at least I do and the people I work with also. I for one can't remember everything on the spot without googling at times and frankly I don't want to and need to. Instead problem solving skills, being resourceful and having the persistence to find a good solution are best traits for being successful long term in this field IMO. Good luck in your new career.
Good for you Euphie. My 2 cents, learn what interest you, then post your journey on youtube. I have a good feeling about this channel. I think you'll do well in a couple of years. Try this schedule. Aim for 1 vid a week, with each video about 10 mins long. If you can, take it to 15 to 20 mins. You have a REALLY good chance of making it if you do that. Anyway, congrats on getting a job. Hope you have a great year there.
Congrats. Glad you shared this experience
Congratulations! I just stumbled upon your channel but am very happy to hear your good news. I wish you all the best in your new job and I enjoyed the meme photos spliced in between the video. You've got talent and a good sense of humor. :)
Congratulations Euphie.
massive congratulations!
congratulations!!!
congrats
I just had my job offer rescinded 3 days before starting. Don't stop interviewing and accepting job offers until you have a paycheck.
congratulations! never seen any of your content before but this is inspirational and motivating to see! Go kill it!!
Congrats on your job hunt! What was your strategy for finding these contract roles?
Better to start job hunting 9 months from when you start your contract job so you don’t have to take the first offer that comes along.
Hello, you are cute :)
Happy for you, really. Here in France, the struggle is also real (QA field + swe background) and I hope I will have an opportunity as well.
