    Also touring acts are charging a premium to play since their costs have gone up. Corporate venues will pay them but the independent venues are having a tougher time affording it all on top of their overhead increases.

    Gretch are absolutely one of the best Trevor. 51 years at the throne certainly is a badge of honor few of us have in our resume. With the likes of Charlie, Cindy, and Phil playing these gorgeous shells, how could one go wrong with Gretch. Originally from Brooklyn N.Y. in 1883. I read DW makes the shells for Gretch now. Chris Lombardi CEO. DW drums The shell's definitely have that woody tone to them. I find that in birch shells with Emporer vintage coated on top and Emporer vintage clears on the bottom toms. You mention not having to play fast. I am learning slowing down helps keep the focus on keeping the technique relaxed and the same as my right. Where did this ratamacues originate? • @trevorgollagherdrums4610

      The origin of snare drum rudiments can be traced back to Swiss mercenaries armed with long polearms. The use of pikes in close formation required a great deal of coordination. The sound of the tabor was used to set the tempo and communicate commands with distinct drumming patterns. These drumming patterns became the basis of the snare drum rudiments.

    • @s4lroachclip
      @s4lroachclip Місяць тому

      @@trevorgollagherdrums4610 Thanks for answering. What I am asking is this rudiment or pattern had a meaning behind it. We know drums communicated farther than we can with our voices, but If this was played, what was the message being sent specifically. It is maybe unknown, but it is a question worth asking isn't it. Movies, misrepresent it all the time so I do not trust information from Hollywood to be accurate. It is my guess this was a victory march also used to announce royalty, even though I last saw it used in a movie upon surrendering. I mean using the patterns in our playing is one thing but to me understanding what they communicate is as important. For example west African drums were communication that was as elaborate as the spoken word, universally, villages spoke the language and understood the message. Coming of age celebrations, marriage or coupling, all have their unique patterns. The knowledge of the language and what you are speaking is important to me, otherwise playing is like a baby just making noise.
