What software is this bro
Hi, this one is called Plasticity. It's a CAD modelling program for artists.
@@digitalste811 is free or paid
This one is paid, it currently cost $149 USD for the indie licence, I think there a student discounted version as well.
You should give womp3d a try thier is a free version
In my opinion, one of the best features of Plasticity is its snapping capabilities. I have never used another application that is so intuitive and powerful. No matter what I want to snap to, it almost literally reads my mind and provides guilds lines for quickly snapping to the appropriate object or angle.
I totally agree-Plasticity’s snapping is next-level. I've been able to take full advantage of it to create cuts perfectly aligned to surface angles, which saves so much time and keeps everything precise. It's like having an assistant anticipating exactly where I want things to line up. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Is there a snap function short cut ?
For Object Snaps you can temporally enable it by holding the Ctrl Key and for curves you can Temporally turn off using the same key! hope that helps :)
@digitalste811 thx 😊
@@shokk1967 Also, you can show construction lines and snap to them by going over whatever you want to align with and hitting the shift key twice. it will draw construction lines that help you align to that point, edge, etc. and you can snap to those construction lines. It's quite amazing!
look at tiny strip at bottom it shows all key shortcuts in any mode.
No way! That's a great tip and will help massively, thanks.
Powerful filleting features. Looks as powerful to what we see with Parasolid 3D tools Rhino 3D should capitalize on that .
I've heard positive things about Rhino but have never used it myself.
Why is it so easy to build in Plasticity? There must be a catch:)
I suppose a CAD modelling approach frees artist up from the polygon modelling constraints. However, this does come at a cost, the topology on CAD models isn't great, and retop work needs doing in alternative programs to better optimise them for use in games! I suppose that's the catch ha!
@@digitalste811 Games. I see. I remember playing Frogger but that was 2D. Well for product design this is fantastic.
@@gokhanersan8561 Games, exactly! Frogger is a classic! It’s amazing how far things have come. For product design, Plastcity is definitely fantastic!
Interesting design! Did you know you can have some form of materials in plasticity? If you right click the "Render View" it will bring up some matcaps, if you click the bottom left one its like a material matcap, to add a material simplily select which mesh you want and press M. frankly it might not be the same as fusion but it nice to add some colour.
Hey, thanks for that! I'll check the materials out soon, I know there are also different performance settings for the viewport rendering as well, so I might try combining that with some materials to see what I get! :)
As someone in last vid says, Blender is really Key-based. my 3 Main steps to general object go along like: 1. hit G (Move) / R (Rotate) / S (scale) 2. hit "XYZ", yes, you can select specific axis by just hit XYZ (and if double hit that angle 'll switch from global axis to local axis) 3. Use mouse (btw, if you feel mouse really slow cuz "Shift" is to do mouse-micro scaling), or you want specific angle/lenght you can just type that number and enter (look at top-left it'll show command you're typing) Oh, and Right click when performing will cancel any action you're in doing too!
Yes a lot of people have told me its short cut heavy - it'll just take a little time to become accustom to them I suppose. Thanks for the support and tips shared, I am planning on getting back into it this weekend so hopefully there will be some improvements ha!
Im glad that you're enjoying the software!(Its katie btw) As someone who has never touched fusion, has been using blender for most of her time at uni, i believe Plasticity will be quickly making its way into the industry!
Hi Katie, it seems like it's got a lot of potential. The features currently in there feel really streamed lined when compared with F360. However, there are some trade-offs between the two that I might do a video on. I can see it catching on for game artist/hardsurfaces folk.
Damn dude, you're learning all this stuff fast, you'll never wanna go back to poly modelling again at this rate!
Yez Zir! Never again, I think Nurbs and Voxel based modelling systems are the way forward! Thanks 😊
to pan its shift+middle click.. the cursor is very important (press shift+s, and you will know what i mean) for the inset, u need to move ur mouse further from the selected face/polygon to inset it more. for loop cuts, u can scroll the mousewheel for more cuts. and another thing, blender is very keyshortcut-ish
Its going to take me some time to pick all this up, I am feeling pretty confident in doing it and with tips like this I am sure I will make steady progress. thanks the journey continues :)
That thing you asked about in the beginning is the origin point. Things you spawn, like camera, lights, primitives and so on, end up there. One minute later you figured it out yourself. 😀 Tab switches between Object and Edit mode. Oh and you do need a camera to render.
Yes, my fumbling has led to some good discoverys ha! and thanks for the tips!
@@digitalste811 it used to render the viewport, but blender opt it out.. it was under the Render sub-menu and was called Render Viewport. if u install the 3.0 version i think or something like that, u will get the viewport rendering (but not very recommended bcoz it doesn't use the global illumination)
@@luciox2919 Thanks for taking the time to share this info! I am looking forward to jumping back into it soon :)
@@digitalste811 no problem, and always turn off the snap button (magnet) when you don't need it
Feedback: Your mic volume is too low for me :) Enjoy your Blender journey! Tip: in the tool bar section, you can see a triangle icon thing on the bottom on some icons, you can hover your mouse on those icons and hold your left mouse button for more options.
Hey, thanks for pointing that out! I will be sure to turn the mic up in future videos. That is a great Tip as well, I had no idea I could do that, I am enjoying using Blender and I think I will have a lot of fun on my learning journey. I appreciate your support, thanks again! :)
Hey there. Kind of went wild typing. Got issues posting it. Sent you an email instead (to email listed on this channel).
Hey, thanks for the email! I thought I would reply here to clarify the context of the videos and my learning journey. Yeah, shifting with the mouse's middle mouse button (MMB) - muscle memory is stronger than I thought from other programs I use, haha! Watching the playlist you recommended is on my list of things to do, but for now, the idea is to fumble around and allow viewers to see the common learning challenges when someone picks up a new piece of software. In our case, that's Blender! Thanks for your continued support and the time you've taken to share your knowledge, tips, and tricks. I'm confident I'll pick things up at a fairly fast pace! I hope you'll tune in to the next video, as I try to implement some of your tips!
Ah man what a shame it cant properly do round booleans. Apart from that looks amazimg and very intuitive.
Yes! I hope it gets an update soon. It seems to have a lot of potential! For now, I think it's a good blockout tool that can be used to develop optimised meshes with quad draw or retops mods.
First of all. middle mouse button will orbit. Shift + middle mouse will pan. Ctrl + middle will zoom in or out but people usually just mouse wheel. There is an "emulate 3 button mouse" setting you can activate in case you are using a drawing tablet with a pencil where you don't have a middle button. There is also an "emulate numpad". Hitting the period (.) on the numpad will center view on your selection and set it up to be the center point of your orbiting. I could write a freaking book in this comment about all the things you don't currently know or are confused about but I think it would be a million times better for you to follow my next advice instead. You are clearly an experienced digital artist. I am impressed by how much you were able to figure out on your own and how quickly. But I absolutely recommend watching a basic tutorial intro. It would save you a lot of time, confusion and frustration. There are features that blender users considers common and basic that I would be beyond impressed if you would SOMEHOW discover on your own. It will (among other things) explain what the flying heck is the 3D cursor and why we care. CG cookie happens to have an awesome playlist that go through the interface, menus, how to customize your workspace, tools etc (exactly what you need to know right now basically). Watching the entire playlist might take 2-3 hours of your time, but as an expert you will be able to fast forward through the parts where they are explaining basic concepts to beginners. I am confident that watching that will allow an expert like you to hit the ground blazing. You don't need the paid content where they teach beginners "how to digital arts". Playlist name: Blender 4.x Beginner Basics Complete Course ua-cam.com/play/PL3GeP3YLZn5hhfaGRSmRia0OwPPMfJu0V.html&si=nBPIRAsVfs8PxZvY The scripting language is python. But the software is made with C++ and of course it is open sourced so anyone can modify the core of the software however they want. But people usually make add-ons with the scripting language. But there are some custom non-official versions of blender floating around on the internet made by 3rd parties. The part of the video where you spawned an new blender window. Window menu --> new window or new main window. You would drag and place that on a second screen and get to use the "screen-space" of 2 or more monitors. A "main window" also have the top menus. As for spawning extra "view area" within the same window (and "docking them")... just watch the tutorial playlist.
Ps: There are 3 free add-ons/extensions that you can easily install from within blender itself that absolutely every single blender users I know and ever heard of use without exception. Node Wrangler F2 LoopTools Those 3 are mandatory. No seriously. There are plenty more cool an awesome stuff, but those 3 specifically I honestly don't think there is such a thing as a blender user who knows those exist and yet chooses not to use them. They recently changed how you activate those in blender 4.1 or 4.2. I don't remember which (but I would guess 4.2). So be careful if your watch tutorials on that process.
@@Zhab80 Thank you for your detailed feedback! I really appreciate your input and suggestions. I'm excited to check out those plugins soon, and I hope you enjoyed the content as much as I enjoyed creating it! Let me know if you have any more tips or thoughts as I continue learning. Thanks again!
@@digitalste811 The blender community has a bit of a cycle where older users take care of the new ones. Great video Ste, best Boolean Voxel Workflow video I’ve seen in ages ;) Hope you are well fella 🙂
Hi mate, I'm good, trust you are as well! Thanks for the feedback 😀
If you put that model into Marmoset it now has a feature to bevel/smooth hard edges! Would be a good test-case.
But would it work with a mesh like that? Work flow relies on the high to low construction, the video model would be the high.
Hello ! What an interesting and simple script ! I love it ! Would it be possible to add a row where you can change the value of the end cover of the book ? Switching between a flat or a round joint cover ?
Hi, I'm glad you like it! I believe something like that could be added to give the user more control over the style, I'll pop it on the list for the next version build. See what I can do!

Your art is excellent but I worry that you are painting in the light and shadows rather than using the light in the scene to create these. I would paint your cracks onto a normalmap and light using the 3ds max lighting system, or vray depending on what you are going to render this with. I can't fault your artistic skills though

Hey mate how are you painting in max? If I already have a texture but I want to paint out seams in the view port how would I go about it?
so firstly you would need to go to tool/view port canvas/ once you load it up you will get the (VPC tool window) which you can see in my vid on the left. if you then select your model and click on the paint brush icon within the tool bar it will give you texture options, click diffuse and set up the size and save path, then select layer within the tool bar, which will pop open the layer window if you then go to file load you can load in you already made texture, once you have done this there is a clone tool within the brush section which you can then use to sample parts of your texture and paint out your seams!! have a look at this blog it should help: consoul.org.uk/view-port-canvas-3ds-max/#more-680
