Spring Snapper - Whacked them on Plastics #fishing #fish #epic #snapper #saltwater
Spring time is a great time to target snapper on plastics, they fight hard and taste great on the table. My mate Scotty invited me out for a hot session on the snapper. We caught quality and quantity and had a great time doing it, the conditions were perfect. We fished 2hrs either side of the hightide.

Its the start of spring, I go test out a theory of which beachworm is best. Shop bought frozen king beach worm or local metho preserved beach worm. There was a clear winner!! #fishing #fish #saltwater

First session back on home soil post my tropical fly fishing trip to Kiribati CXI. The fish played and the wind blew. Even though it was winter it was 29C on the South Coast of NSW. What's mother nature doing? #fishing #beach #fish #winter

Awesome stuff 🤙🏼
@@robertkesson9386 thanks mate
Nice bro 👌🏼
@scottbarratt4651 Thanks mate a little sneaky midweek trip 😉
Did well. I cannot believe the bag limit is still 10 reds per person. That should be max 5 and the size limit brought up to 35cm. The new Mulloway regs are a bit silly with the boat limit of 2 per vessel. Should just be 1 per person over 70cm per day.
@adzoutnabout888 Yeah agree mate, it can be easy at times to over capitalise on reds.
Yeah there is a loop hole with those laws i know of a person that goes out and catches there bag limit and then goes home and does it all again and does it all again and is selling the fish and fisheries know him very well but as far as i know he is still at it.
@grimreaper6112 no loophole there is a possession limit. That guy is just a selfish grub probably selling them out the back door.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles There should be a slot limit, say 5 in total but only 2 of those 5 to be between 50-80 cms. There are grubs up here that get their bag of blue swimmers and sell them at the pub. 3 blokes = 30 crabs a day, every day. Dosent take long to clean out spots.
Great video nick looks like you had a cracking day out 💯
Well Scotty did 5 to 3 but we always 50/50 the catch.
Nice one mate, cracking Reds.
Quality that day, I didn't even have my camera rolling for the first one lol.
Nice arvo on the beach with Matty mate. I have to ask….. did you catch the worms or did you just fart out a handful ?
Thanks mate we make it a regular thing between us. This was a morning just a dull overcast one hence you don't see the sunrise. Fish had us working for them.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Nice one. I could smell the salmon out in the surf this morning.
Nice Nick! Any reds around?
@davidtindall2080 filmed an episode today actually, coming soon.
Nice vid mate. I fish down your way, usually around Kinghorne. What size reel and line do you use for spinning? I've actually got the same rod Edit: never mind. You tell us at the end of the vid haha
@mct0407 Hi mate, yeah great area. I've not fished there yet but I will. Thanks for commenting.

Nice little fish there, great video!
@Fishnstick Thanks for the comment mate, please give me a Subscribe it helps the algorithm. Some good stuff coming in the future. I don't just fish beaches.

@@kevingrenville5903 They are a good spot to be. I'm looking forward to the warmer months with more variety. Not to mention all the other disciplines of fishing I do. I fish for everything, lots of good stuff in the plans.
Nice Nick! Looks like an awesome place 👍🏻
Sure is, lovely people but I couldn't live there permanently.
Another top vid mate!
Thanks mate 1 left to go in the series.
That looks such an awesome place. One day...
@CarlDubois It is mate and you can chase them on plastics.
Nice work Nick!
Thanks mate, I love catching these fish.
Some great footage there Nick, love the way those Bones just keep going!
@@windyfishing9563 I guess it's something to do with being GT food as their motivator :)
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Maybe, that sure looks like a deep drop off where they were headed! Could imagine some big GT's cruising that edge.

Invisible fish 🎣 nice work Nick!
@davidtindall2080 thanks mate, hope you enjoyed that edit.
Such a sleek well-camouflaged fish! Great footage, Nick!
@franksaunders6534 Thanks Frank glad you are enjoying the series. Where abouts are you from? Some exciting Trigger wins coming in the next video.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Hi Nick. I am originally from Tassie and spent a lot of time with my uncle an avid fly fisherman and fly tier, fishing tight streams on North East coast of Tasmania for trout. I now live in Campbelltown NSW but access some great drummer ledges near Bulli whenever I can and swell moves in to stir things up.
@franksaunders6534 Nice mate I'm just down in Jervis Bay.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Top part of the world with some great fishing - remember tagging along to the Tubes and Big Beecroft with some LBG nuts in the early and late 90s before they put stairs in at the Tubes - great memories of a special era
@@franksaunders6534 Definitely, it's crowded now.
Good vid Nick, shame about that Trigger! Dont let Mace down in the Trigger Wager ;-)
@windyfishing9563 next video is a special one, don't fret 😀
Always a good feeling when you get in the groove and find your sweet spot - well done, mate!
Thanks for the comments and support. Yeah you are right, sometimes it's just a litte tweak and it all begins to happen.
Great Vid! the flats are amazing. What was the hot size and color for bonefish?
@cutplug6365 CXI special but I utilised UV bonefish crystal flash. Size 6 gamakatsu SL11- 3H
Nice video Nick! how much drag are they pulling?
@@davidtindall2080 I was fishing 12-20lb leader.
Challenging fishing, mate! Remember reading about the incredible power and speed of bone fish more than 30 years ago - such awesome sportfish!
@franksaunders6534 big forked tail gets the moving. My favourite way hands-down is in ankle deep water spotting them tailing. Seeing their top fork gets te hear pounding. Those bloody triggers are a tough fish sometimes. In future videos to come you'll get to see their power and ability to buckle a 9wt to the stripper guide. Thanks for commenting, hopefully you subscribed.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Yep, one of your loyal subs now!
@@franksaunders6534 I appreciate it, thank you.
That last bone was a good fish mate🤟👍 Amazingly fast and powerful fish - was great trip mate👋👍
@user-qr1ec7js2w Some bigger fish yet to come. Yeah great trip, next year's return won't come quick enough 😒
Great video, what rod/reel combo's did you use?
@mikewemyss9999 I took a Gloomis Cross Current 6wt lined up to a 7wt to help compensate for the 12-14knt wind every day. Reel was a Sage Spectra - this was my bonefish setup. I took but didn't use my 8wt TFO BVK with a Sage Spectra. I used a 9wt GLoomis NRX with a Lamson Liquid for the Triggers. For the GTs I took a 12wt Vision Merisoula with a 10000 size Hardy Regal Fortuna - unfortunately never used it n anger.
Well done, beautiful video, every moment is exciting
Thanks for your comment, I hope you subscribed
Enjoy it mate, you earned it 👌
Thanks mate. It was a awesome week. Already planning going back next year.
Awesome!!! 🎣

I can’t watch. It’s too good. I’m so jealous. Great trip mate.
@robertwoodhead3256 Thanks mate, a lot more episodes to come of CXI yet.
Looks like the most beautiful place to live.
@peterlattanzio2634 It really is a great location. All the videos I've made so far are within 15 minutes from home. Where do you live Peter?
@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles I ended up at Ulladulla once and the locals walked me out to an island at low tide (stokes i think) it was so cool. We have nothing like this in Adelaide. I will definitely come back one day. For now I'm happy watching you do it. Keep it up mate.

Loving your videos, mate! Have caught some good pigs over the years and now with work/family commitments, this is my favourite form of fishing - simple, fun and reliable. Can almost always rustle up a few good pigs for the table, any time of year.
Thanks for your kind comments mate. I'm away out of country this week fly fishing a tropical location. Lots of epic video to come. Please don't forget to subscribe if you haven't.
@@NickReaysOutdoorChronicles Already subbed as soon as I watched the first few minutes. Copied a link to your video for another mad keen rock fisho I know. Good luck with the fly fishing and hope you get stretched by a few brutes!

@bendeguz1241 I appreciate your time. Where are you from? I'm interested where my subscribers live around the world.
What rod is that again? Crazy session my man.
@boomsaway3 It's an Atomic Arrowz 290ss - perfect for this style of fishing.
Nice fish mate 😁 I don't know where your fishing, but the beach looks very flat.I must say I like that jig idea but I don't like the the braid and the egg beater lol. I'm an old school beach fisherman 😁
Choice is a wonderful thing. For this work though you can't beat braid for the sensitivity it brings to the party. I do have a 2m length of 16lb fluorocarbon leader tied with a FG knot to the braid. Threading or baitcast they all handle braid easily, even the old Alvey manages it fine.
The Tailor seem to grab the treble and the salmon the assist hook, is that what happens normally or just random?
Just a coincidence mate, with shore jigging it's an erratic retrieve. I doubt the fish is trying to do anything other than engulf the lure thinking it's an easy meal.
Best surf chopper I have seen in years mate. Totally different beach today!
Yeah it's amazing how they transition so quickly.
Nice chomper Nick 💪
Thanks mate, good to pull one from the surf. Next cast lost that lure, 16lb wasn't enough :)
