Yeah I kind of wish the bike had a six gear but I'd be afraid to put smaller sprockets because then it would be going too fast in first gear it's already quite fast which is not good when you want to go slow
Hopefully when you need a new chain and sprockets you can buy the chain with the master link
I misread the description when I bought it. I thought it had a master link. That was my fault.
Thanks for sharing😅 I've got a 2006 800 Drifter it's only got 5,500 miles on it I'm really liking it only had it a few weeks and I have a 100 Mi on it now and that's running different country curvy roads here in the Ozarks. was really a really nice 100 MI😊
I bet you have some amazing riding out there.
I bought one when they were first starting back in 2020. It’s amazing. Never dropped my phone. Never had an issue with the camera and this is prior to their vibration damper. Best mount ever. I just bought their new one with the vibration damper.
nice fail on fork job
I'll do a new video if you do a new video. Let me know.
Haha. I kind of lost motivation to keep making videos. But, now that spring is here, I’m feeling like I’m getting a second wind. I’m rebuilding the carb on the old XL 250, so that should be on the road soon. Are you still planning on going to Bonneville this year?
Loved my drifter.
Is the chain still stock links with the different sprocket
I can’t remember exactly, but I think I had to remove 2 links.
Fun looking ride and i loved the color/stripe combo on that bike.
I like it too, your view from the cockpit reminds me of my '73 and '75 Z1. My cousin had a BSA 650 and that Int 650 sound sure takes me back. I like the looks of the Super Meteor 650s exhaust better than the Int, but the forward controls are a no-go for me.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of forward controls either. So far I have been able to test ride all the Royal Enfield bikes we have in the US and so far my two favorite ones are the INT 650 and surprisingly the Hunter 350.
Hey, you just went by where I bought my boat! lol
Haha. You should have bought a motorcycle. You would have gotten more use out of it. Just sayin’.
As a CBR1000RR rider this was my first choice but for some strange reason I went with the Classic 350 and yeah I'm 60 yrs old and have over 200,000 miles on sportbikes. About 160 hp less but Man it is a blast to ride. I might get one of these next time. Or the 535 Single. Interesting take though.
200,000 miles on a sport bike? My back is killing me just thinking about doing that! Very cool. I have a few more test ride videos coming out with the Classic 350, Hunter 350 and the Scram 411.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat 🤣🤣 Yeah it's been a long 40 year journey. Stared down Death a couple of times so I decided to tone it down a bit. Unfortunately those 350's just don't cut it on the SoCal freeways but I did manage to do a 475 mile ride this Summer out to Santa Maria for Lunch. It was a grind at times but the ride home was amazing. Ya might be surprised on the Classic. It's a ton of fun. RE really knows the market and what folks want in a bike. Awesome build quality on every model I've seen so far. Keep that rubber side down and Cheers from Cali!
@@GrampsD63 Right on. I used to live in San Diego so I understand riding a smaller cc motorcycle on the freeways. I prefer the winding back roads anyway. I did like the Classic a lot but I think if I was to get a 350 it’ll be the Hunter. What an amazing bike.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat It looks like a great ride too.
How about the oil, you didn´t put any??? At what moment you put the oil?? Quantity per bar in ml??
I did add the oil but I forgot to film it. The maintenance manual says to use 185 - 195 cc of fork oil. I put in 190 cc just to be safe and if the forks are too soft I’ll add another 5 cc. Thanks for the questions.
Did you have vaccine on top of catching COVID ???????? Could be from the vaccine. Many folks are experiencing rapid heart beat or no heart beat... (myocarditis) You are dang lucky on gas prices it is $5.50 to $6 for premium in CA... Thanks liberals...
$6 bucks a gallon! Ouch. I used to live in San Diego, the only thing I don’t miss about it are the prices. I refused to get the shot. I had a good friend die just after he got his. 🤬
Good to see you back in the saddle. Be nice to your sister!!!
😂 She already knew about the cow named Jodi and thought it was funny.
I'd blame it on Dale
I tried to blame it on my wife but then I remembered that I’m not married anymore. 🥴
Glad you are still with us buddy. You need to set up a booth at a art fair and see how those cigars box guitars sell.
Sounds like you're having an anxiety attack almost.
That’s what they thought at first but anxiety pills didn’t help.
Thats scary hope you get that all figured out. Cheers!@@TwoWheeledHepkat
@@Bricklinsv1970 Thanks.

Thanks. It was easier than I thought.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat I started work on my one last week … definitely rewarding seeing the progress
@@cranny_cardboard4796 I know the feeling. I’m so close to being finished it’s driving me nuts!
Wish model of tackform you use on the video?
I bought the universal clamp (7/8” to 1 1/4” bars) because I am using this on multiple bikes with different sized handlebars. If you’re going to be using this on one bike and you know the size of the handlebars, you can order the 20 Series mount. With the 20 Series, it comes with the mount to the exact size of your bars. The universal mount has a larger clamp with multiple spacers to fit different sized bars. Hope that makes sense.
That looks great!
Thanks. I believe it only took about an hour from start to finish.
Nice. Been looking for a nice one. Pulling the trigger tomorrow. Thanks for the review
It seems the seat on this one is easy to change for something more comfortable. The engine sounds amazing.
Greetings from this side of the Atlantic! I must confess, i love this motorcycle BUT... I don't understand how a 350cc only has 20hp! And the dealerships charge the same price of a 2nd hand Honda Rebel 500 for this Royal Enfield 350 new? Even the Honda Rebel 300 has more power and is also lighter than this RE 350... And since it's a Honda with liquid cooled engine, it must have way better fuel economy. I agree that's a great beginner bike for it's power! But it's too expensive for a beginner because with that same amount of money one can buy a way better, more powerful, more economic, motorcycle. I think Royal Enfield started thinking of themselves as the "Aston Martin" of british mortorcycles or like at least like a "British Honda", and thus such high price for such weak bike. Having a RE Meteor/Hunter 350 in one's collection, it means a collector has many options, right? Is not the same for the common of mortals who only has the option of having one motorcycle, and one must choose well at the 1st purchase. I started writting my opinion about this bike half-way of the video and you ended up hitting some of my points in the end. Thank you for the video, mate!😃 Have a great week!😉
Royal Enfield, Classic British motorcycle design at an affordable price point. I love my Continental GT 650! Wouldn't trade for the world! 🏁🏁
Just pulled the trigger on 1 but in chrome for me
You’ll like it. I wanted the chrome one when I ordered mine but they were backordered at the time and they didn’t know when they would be getting them.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat i just got a email back from where i ordered it from and they said . Discontinued ! Are Tackform still going ???
@@robertpuleston3676 Did you go thru the Tackform website or a third party? I just checked with Tackform and they’re still going. Some are on backorder right now but they’ll get them in soon.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat iv been in touch with Tackform and they still have them in stock 👍

I just bought one, because of all the great reviews on it. I have not mounted it yet. However; I don’t think I will be disappointed. 👍
Seriously, you did a good job. Your presentation was informative and engaging. You even had a cool look. 🏍️
❤❤❤👍
Another video on the int 650 mentioned the front brake was squishy.
Most peoples first rides on these, they'll feel like that till you break them, which tends to be the same time frame of the bikes being used, in reviews or first impressions.
I have an int650 in glitter and dust
Nice! I think those chrome tanks are the best looking ones.
GET RIDD OF THE MUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1VIDEO OK THO...PEOPLE WANT T0 HERE THE CARS AND PEOPLE, NOT MUSIC...
Cars don’t make sounds when they’re just parked there. Plus, since the show was playing music over the speaker system, UA-cam would give me a copyright strike.
Cruising the Coast merchandise!!! Salute 🫡
A chrome one would have looked better being attached to your chrome handlebar
I agree, but the chrome was back ordered and they didn’t know when they were going to get any. I’m ordering another one that’ll be in chrome so the black one will go on my dirt bike.
Its a beautiful bike, but if you're going to take the road, you'll need to be patience... 😂
Exactly. It’s for cruising back roads 50-60 mph. Hiway riding is boring anyway so stick to the slower more scenic routes.
The absolute best mounts for cell phones or in my case my SkyCaddie 550
Yup! I’ve been using mine for over a year and a half with no issues. Way better than my old Quad Lock that broke due to all the plastic parts.
I've been using the same brand for about a year love it.
Over a year and a half for me. Never had any issues. I’ve ridden on Michigans horrible pot hole infested roads and even used on off road bikes. I never lost a phone. Unlike those plastic phone mounts like quad lock, these are all aluminum and won’t break. I ordered another one for my dirt bike.
I've watched all your XL250 build videos, plus the Himalayan test rides & several more. Evil Knievel is such a great style idea! I guarantee you'd win theme award at bike shows! Anyway, I thought one XL was a "parts donor" for Evel Knievel, so I'm relieved to hear you're restoring them both. You've inspired me to polish my engine case side covers, even though my 1980 XL250s is already in mint condition, it will look better polished.
I have 2 XL250s and 1 XR250. One of the XLs is the one I’m working on. The other one is in near mint condition with about 2600 miles on it. The XR is the same bike as the XL but with different fenders, tank and lights. The XR is my parts bike since the motor blew up about 25 years ago. And I’m glad I polished the side covers. They look so much better.
I have an old buddy of mine, Carl Spackler, he's a ground keeper at this golf course and he's llicense to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. He could take care of your squirrel issue im sure of it. To kill them squirrels you must know your enemy, and in this case your enemy is a varmint. He told me, a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong, or as he refers to 'em as, Varmint Cong. Just like the Cong, you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. Carl took out an entire golf course just to defeat the enemy and then said, "and that's all she wrote."
I left a message for Carl to call me back. He’s on Christmas vacation so he’ll get back to me after New Years. It’s in the hole!
The Meteor 350 is economic, funny, nice, have a good sound, over 35km/l... It is a very nice and lovely bike ❤️
I agree. Plus, lots of aftermarket parts available if you want to change the looks.
Hi, this is Brian Walker, 1980 XL250s, I found a mechanic that has a UA-cam channel showing him restoring several 1978 to 81 XL250s & XL500s. It's called "Andy's honda XLs Restorations."
I’ll have to check him out. Thanks.
I feel your pain brother, I hate those waskely varmints!
Yeah, I heard they do a number on boats too.
I found a 23 inch front tire for my 1980 XL 250s made by Bridgestone called a "tw9" (for trail wing) my original tires were hard as a rock, so I assumed they would not be safe on the street.
Yeah, the Bridgestone TW9 is the only 23’ x 3” dual sport tire being made right now. It’s the same one I had to buy.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat I don't know if i should buy an extra, just in case they stop making it?! I hate to sink $110 into a tire I might never need, buy I guess i could sell it easy, if Bridgestone stopped making them & I don't needing my extra.
I know the feeling. I just know sooner or later I’ll have to break down and put a 21” front wheel on it just so I’ll have more tire options. I actually have 3 of these bikes. One is my parts bike that I keep robbing pieces off from and the other is my near mint bike that will always have a 23” front tire no matter what.
@@TwoWheeledHepkat just found out there's a club on Facebook and you can't be a part of it unless you have actually kept the 23 inch front tire! I'll send you the link to the Facebook thing to check it out.
The name is super long, but it's basically "Honda XL250s, XL500s, XR250, XR500 with 23" front tire only" yup, super long name!
Your closing comments on the video were talking to the bike, saying "almost there Buddy" I'm dying to see this bike finished! Go Evil Knievel! Until just now I never thought about how odd that name is, so contrived but so cool "evil" Knievel it's hilarious!
I am in my late 50's and have been riding motorcycles for more years than I care to count. I have owned a handful of Harley's and about a dozen or so other bikes ranging from Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and HD... I purchased a new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 from Capital HD, this past spring... I added a set of S&S pipes, some aftermarket metal bullet style turn signals and a BAAK small round tail light, removed the cross handle bar brace and cleaned up the look. I enjoy this bike so much that I decided to buy the new 2022 Classic 350 as well... between the two bikes, I put 3,500 miles on the 650 and at least 2,500 on the Classic 350. Can not say enough good abut these bikes. Every time I ride one, people approach and ask about the bikes. That rarely happened on my Fat Boy or Sportster... and never happened on any of the Japanese bikes. Not that I care for all the attention, but, it does show how beautifully designed these bikes are that they appeal to so many and cause many to stop and take a look. Now, riding them is at a level of fun and joy no other brand has delivered to me. I plan to find a late model Classic 500 and also purchase the new RE Shot Gun 650 when it is released in the US. Great bikes!! Just ride one... you'll see.
I have ridden or owned all types of bikes and I’ve liked many of them. Like you, I’m not a brand loyal kind of person like many bike owners are. For me, the number one reason I like or own a bike is all in the design and styling. Maybe it’s the automotive designer in me, but I believe in form over function. A bike design needs to flow just right or there needs to be some aspect of the bike that stands out from all the others. Like, you mentioned the Shotgun 650. I remember seeing the concept of that bike about a year ago and I’m hoping the final bike looks like the concept. The design and styling of the SG650 flows just right. Can’t wait to see one in person.
Your specs are wrong mate , it is 47 hp , not 40 hp . Great review , I love mine in ' Orange Crush ' .
Yup, I put up the rear wheel HP which is straight from the dyno. The 47 hp is engine only and once it goes thru the drivetrain then gets to the rear wheel you lose about 7 hp. I probably should have put both rear wheel HP and engine HP. BTW, orange is one of my favorite colors. When I saw the orange crush, that’s the one I wanted! Very cool.
wow ! great Test-Ride ! I like the Interceptor 650 😀 as you said, smooth as silk 🤩🤩
Thanks. As soon as our snow melts I’ll be doing more test rides. Hopefully on a Continental GT and a Classic 350. I am slowly becoming a Royal Enfield convert. Great bikes!
you're riding at too high rpm. this thing gives most of torque at just 2k rpm. there is where I generally shift gears.
The INT 650 has max torque at 5250 RPMs and max horsepower at 7250 RPMs. My friend that works for Royal Enfield, he’s also a motorcycle racer, says I’m not going to hurt this engine bringing it up to higher revs. He’s right. I rung this engine out many times and with the rev limiter set below max redline, the engine ran flawlessly. Don’t be afraid to rev it out, it’ll be fine.
If you shift at 2000rpm you aren't doing the engine any good. But revving over 4000rpm is not advised before 1000miles.
Well, it’s not advised if it’s your personal bike. But the Royal Enfield rep told me to run it thru its paces. He said, “First of all, it’s a demo bike, that’s what they’re made for. Plus, the rev limiters are set way below redline so you can’t hurt the engine. And if you do, Royal Enfield will just send me another one”.
Lugging the F out of the engine if shifting at 2k.
It would be interesting to know how the comfort, handling and performance of the Interceptor compares to the Kawasaki Vulcan S (650), which is a unique combination of cruiser and sport bike design.
My local dealer hasn’t had a Vulcan S last for more than a few days so I haven’t been able to really check it out. What I do know about the comfort on the Vulcan S is it has an adjustable seat, footpegs and handlebar, 18 possible configurations. So no matter your size, you should be able to be comfortable. The INT and the Vulcan both have a ‘650’ but the Vulcan has 14 more horsepower than the INT. I think it’s, Kawasaki has 61hp and the INT has 47 hp. I’m 6’ 2” and I was very comfortable on the INT. When my dealership gets another Vulcan S I’ll be checking out the comfort on that.
It's slow to my old t140 ( but the RE is lovely.) Stick an S&S 865 Kit powercomander cam and pipes it's a bloody animal
I’m all about more horsepower!
