Savage Axis XP and Axis II Stock adjustment and modification

How to adjust / change the stock or shorten the stock and length of pull on a Savage Axis XP or Savage Axis XP II. Shortened LOP is ~12.5 inches. A real live turkey hen comes in calling under my stand. purrs, chirps, locator call all in real time and straight from the turkey's mouth. Pennsylvania turkey calling. PA turkeys calling to each other. Turn the volume up to hear the calls.

You have to contact savage and get a spacer that is thiner they sell them
How much did it shorten the length of pull maybe 1 inch
Very handy trick to know! Thanks for posting this.
I wonder if the rubber pad from the compact version would bolt up to the Axis 2 with that spacer removed ? Visually the compact version looks the exact same.

If it's in the owners manual it's probably okay. Savage did nothing wrong! I believe the author was just offering a homegrown innovative idea.

Thinking about adding some spay foam to make it feel less hollow. Don't know if that would void the warranty.

Not a bad idea...I wonder if it would also help with recoil??
Pro tip: stick a plastic bag in the stock, fill that with spray foam. If you change your mind, just slide the bag out. You can also intermittently add weight as you’re spraying foam in to add weight for reduced recoil.

I bought some model in a .243 for my son and thought it was adjustable as well. Thanks for sharing. Took just a few minutes to complete.
Yeah, it's deceiving. I couldn't return it so I had to make it work.
I bought an axis 2 the dealer told me it was adjustable I don't need to modify because it fits me but had I needed to it would certainly have been a big disappointment
