In 2021, we sailed from Denmark (via Sweden) to Greece with our little doggo Kai, and we shared all about that first great voyage in the series "Sailing Europe". This year, we are taking it a bit more easy as we're hanging around Greece and exploring the magnificent Aegean!
And next year? Who knows? Hopefully, the adventure continues! We're just getting started ;)
We hope you'll find our videos to be both entertaining and informative to those of you who may be dreaming of a similar adventure.

How tall are you? Will a 185 cm person have enough headroom in HR352 ?
@@C215-h1r hi I'm 188cm and it just ok, so 185 should be perfect in most areas, note the standing height was increased over the years I think the 1986 we have and onwards are slightly taller
That was the hilarious video to date I feel for you Leo my wife commented you seem to be a younger version of me, I know how you feel always being picked on!. Interesting to hear of your tour of Wales we lived in Wales for several years between Hay on Wye and the Brecon Beacons. Looking forward to watching your travels along my home cruising ground of the South West Coast
We really loved Wales and the entire Brecon Beacons, we definitely need to do some more exploring there though :) I would like to meet the older version of myself, so please come for some sailing around Denmark and we make sure to meet up !
@@sailingAGH We have often considered cruising East, so you never know we may end-up on your doorstep one day, you should never say never
Wow, it’s super impressive you’ve made it this far without a tender! Did you ever get Sparky sparking? Saint Michael’s is on my bucket list and so is Penzance; thanks for sharing. 😀⛵️😀 PS I think Leo is the sailing version of Wagner 🙁
Thanks :) It is a very beautiful area, yes we actually got Sparky running, not sure exactly what the problem was, but taking it apart and reassembling he worked like a charm ;)
Thanks for another great episode! I love your “laid back” style and the way you present the story. Also the way Kai is so much a part of the story - we all love him! Happy and safe sailing Nick
Thank you so much for your super kind comment! We are all here because of Kai ;)
Thinking about it, how did you get a dog into Ireland on a boat? I thought we only let them in through commercial vehicle port procedures. He must be extra special!
He is extra special with VIP status ;) But its actually easy with an EU pet passport, only requires a fresh tape worm treatment.
I love all the wildlife, but especially the orange-bellied, full-throated terrier and his dolphin mating call. 😀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not sure I understand why Pernille doesn't want to be on camera, she's good on film! Leo's Baywatch walk will make David Hasslehoff and Pamela Anderson very jealous; if only they could have been so sexy. The Hoff's wife comes from that part of Wales, on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons, perhaps they stopped by for tea?
Thank you so much for the confidence booster Neil! 😊If only we had known about the Hasselhoffs at the time - Leo could have learnt a thing or two 😉
@@sailingAGH You two are sexier! They would count themselves lucky to know you, but I have looked at where they are living since writing this - Los Angeles. Their loss
Very interesting. Thanks.
Thanks 4 these videos, u guys look so nice I look forward to watching the rest. Cheers
Great video, thanks for sharing
Good to see you back we were getting concerned, looks like you had a mixed bag of weather hopefully your father had planned to leave for Scotland and you hadn't fallen out over your sail trimming😟. What are your cruising plans of the UK are you going North? Wherever you roam we wish you sun and fair winds
@@sailingyachtmagnum yes we are always bickering with my dad for fun, his departure was planned 😅 we sailed via the English channel and the Netherlands and are back in Denmark, so not much sun for a while but that's ok 🥶
What a lot of wildlife, especially dolphins!
@@Neilhuny Yes so many dolphins for Kai to bark at
Very cool. So much fun to watch.
@@meerec thank you 🤩
Thanks for the video. If you want better audio then buy a microphone wind shield.
We would have come over to say hello. We sailed our 352 (# 318 Windroos) out of Portland harbour on Wednesday for the first time. And we were excited to see Dory Man on our way out of the marina. But by Thursday, when we came to look for you, you were already gone! Hopefully we'll catch you another time somewhere else :)
@@angleshade oh what a shame! We believe we saw they boat from a distance and though perhaps it's another 352, but never had a close look. We are now by the isle of wight for a few days, if you are around let us know, we are a bit more active on Instagram! Fair winds
Epic voyage well documented.
@@jamesvisick6009 thank you!
Congratulations on such an epic and challenging passage, love the sleeping setup that looked really comfortable. Theresa my wife struggles with a 10 hour passage goodness knows what she would be like after 10 days!! you both should be proud of your achievement given the difficult changing weather pattern. I was initially very concerned when the Whales appears I was thinking Orca's what an experience 👍👍(sailing magnum)
@@CliveLawrence-el6dr thank you so much! Yes it worked well with the air mattress, can recommend it! The 10 days are long but somehow one gets into a weird routine and time passes 😔 luckily no orcas although there are some out there and they are not rudder playing ones
Interesting journey. I see the life jacket on the dog. Arn’t you afraid of the dog fell in water would the whales not eat the dog. The dog looks dry active as if it wants to go in to the sea. Great navigation and super interesting video. Thanks.
@@hetty43 thanks 🙏 hahaha, only slightly worried about him falling overboard, but we have the netting and he hates being wet and swimming! Fair winds
I think I'm almost as excited as Kai seeing those dolphins and pilot whales accompanying you! That was extraordinary. I love his barking ... it makes me wonder if the dolphins & whales are aware of him and his barking, so come to have a closer look?
@@Neilhuny thanks, unfortunately the barking might have the opposite effect on the dolphins. But he is good in hearing them come 😜
👍🧿
What? No comments yet. I shall have to write something informative and witty. That'll be a first. Give me time, I'll be back...
Has been two hours already... hahahaha
@@sailingAGH I know. I'm a failure. But welcome to Ireland, if you haven't already decided to save some money and leave! I only realised you had a stowaway at the end. It was kind of you to share your whisky with him.
Hi, great boat, I own one, the Scandinavian from 1987; reverse is impossible. For the rest is a fantastic boat, very well insulated in all climates, sturdy contruction, very safe, good value through the years
@@piermarcobilli9480 totally agree, you habe a close sister then to our 86. We also have the Scandinavian version, must say we didn't find any insulation, yes the hull is thick but no insulation, we added about 20m2 of armaflex wherever possible to stop condensation, which really helped in winter. Where are you located?
I’m in Italy, Tirreno sea, so not a tough test for winter but no condensation ever, wich I had on the previous boat (Oceanis)
I'm skippering that way soon and wanted to know about the canal and whether to spend time in the Gulf. I really appreciated you sharing this as now I know what to expect. Thanks.

We had the same problem in Sardegna, we hate this behaviour. You were so right about the tourist mess!
Too many tourists everywhere :)
Excellent video have followed from the beginning love your humour keep it up.
Thank you very much Chris!
I would definitely have encouraged Kai to go for that rat! Maybe I'm bad, but I so dislike them. And the lady hiding/dancing behind the tree near the beginning was very funny and ... ummm ... pretty. Loved the dive sequence
Thanks for your comment, one thing is the rat or mouse or whatever it was, since we are in their territory, but it's also about Kai, if He really gets a taste of blood or gets in tune with his hunting instinct we going to be running after Him in the bushes a lot :)
@@sailingAGH Good point - though I'd just trust him to come back, eventually. Side note - many decades ago a friend of a friend who lived in a beautiful market garden in a tiny Cornish valley had trouble with rats, so he constructed a trap for them out of a very large wooden barrel (empty water butt). He balanced the top on a wooden dowl 2/3rds along and then put some food on the top. (I think the bait was pinned on) The weight of the rat going for the bait caused the lid to tip, the rat fell in the barrel, the lid rocked back and the rat was captured. In the morning the owner dropped his Jack Russel Terrier in (yes, I remember it is a different breed) - 3 or 4 rats had been caught - the dog got bitten and learned very rapidly to hate rats, and killed whatever was caught overnight, and continued to do so for years afterwards. I very much doubt if anyone does that nowadays - far too cruel. Different times
Only just started watching, but Pernille? walking easily up the hill while Leo wheezes behind like a middle aged ciggy smoker sort of indicates that someone is waaay out of shape. Makes me feel better while I balance a beer on my belly, so thanks!
That made us both laugh, especially Pernille :) Thanks and enjoy your beer ;)

So sorry to hear about Kai getting attacked that must have been an awful experience pleased to hear and see he appears to have recovered well I must say watching your dolphin footage puts our experience to shame and then you share whales I thought now you’re just showing off
Thanks, guys 😁 lovely to read parts of your adventure too ! Kai healed well, unfortunately he wears some psychological scars for bigger dogs ! We hope to get some better shots of whales to show off! Enjoy your sailing !

Stupid dog... even more the owner
Alluring Artic chanenel is good for cold weather sailing.
Fantastic to find this video just about as I am to do a through inspection of the thru hulls on my 1987 352. I have to say it did not look like yours were too bad. What year is your boat from? Thank your for sharing!
Hi, our boat is from 1986, a close sister :) They weren't too bad, well most of them at least, but there were the occasional concerning signs. It feels much better and safer with the new Truedesign ones. After our near sinking of the bilge plug we don't want to have to think about quality of metals and potential corrosion, stray currents etc... too complicated! Unfortunately it's very hard to make a proper inspection, as lots of the potential weak points are only revealed after complete dismantling. Anyway don't think any of the ones we replaced was likely to fail in the next 2-3years
@@sailingAGH Thank you for your answer, close sisters indeed! Do you reckon your thru hulls were the original ones? Did you find any signs of heavy corrosion or dezincification like the material being porous, pinkish, brittle? From what I can see in the video the metal looks fine (to my completely untrained eyes). But it also seems almost random as to how these are affected across different boats. I believe you are right and am planning to go the Trudesign route too, but have a such a tight schedule before launching this year... Watched your bilge plug video - incredibly scary! I will have to give mine a thorough inspection but as I haul out my boat every year and open the plug to drain the bilge I have not seen any clear signs of corrosion there.
I know you're on little Ilha de Santa Maria, but thought I'd mention it in case you didnt make it clear. Other than that, have you been working on B roll you clever clogs!
