Thanks for this. Its fascinating to watch. My mugai-ryu group does crosstraining with some MJER folks a couple times a year so I wanted to see the similarity/differences in our seated sets. I recorded my practice today for the first time and love how many things I was able to pick out to work on just being able to see myself.

Wish I could afford one of these Evolution blades but not at the moment. I just ordered a Shadow Dancer Custom s5 sword designed specifically for cutting. Matthew did a review on these and he said that their swords move very much like the Evolution blades.

@glbwoodsbum2567 it is a great knife! Perfect size for canoeing and camping and its what I primarily use it for. Love the bright and clean silver solder where the blade meets the finger gaurd

for me the fittings destroy the whole aesthetics i would rather send it back and have it fixed or get my money back like 4 real i got 300 euro swords with way crisper fuchi and kashira than this (the same sword i got the same sageo on..) also no real horn because they had some crack??

Thats a real nicely done suguha hamon on that blade. I'm wondering if you could just take off the tsuba and strip the paint with Jasco or a sand blaster. But if its raw iron it might rust unless its perpetually oiled.
@@preparedsurvivalist2245 good idea. I was thinking something similar. After stripping tsuba, season it like a cast iron skillet. Make drk brown/almost black. Whataya think?
@@Katana-Karl Yea, I'm not sure what all methods there are for rustic finishes but depending on the type of metal I'm sure there is something that could be done to it. Stain, patina, or whatnot.
Very nice! I've had mine for about a year, I also have a model 1. I am guilty of NOT using it, but we do an annual extended camping trip; leaving next week and I've decided to take my model 5 this year. Best way to truly enjoy it is using it.
