Coco is a first calf heifer due to calve in the next month or two. She wasn’t halter trained at all prior to getting her. This has been a challenge but worth it and a sign that says ANYONE can do this with a little time, patience and kindness. We’ve earned one another’s trust every day

Coco is due to calve in September or October. She was exposed to the bull beginning the day after Thanksgiving 2023 and through January 2024. We are so super excited to see what her calf looks like and whether or not she gives us a heifer or a bull calf! Then milking will commence! Stay tuned!

    As I’m observing. When you ask her to put her foot back. Use your foot as you tell her to put her foot back, and kind of hold her foot back with your foot for a few seconds. holding her back. Helps her understand what you want. The flies, spray her with a homemade spray before you get started. I think she will transition easily into a milk cow. Good reminder about her plugs & keeping bacteria out. The tail can be tied to her back leg furthest from you. Thankfully you have glasses on. I like your new set up against the wall is perfect.

    Question, why use the super fine seive if you dump it back in with everything else? Just curious, I don't think we have the super fine one, and we're getting ready to sift for our first time today!

    • @KrusinTheSierra
      @KrusinTheSierra 9 днів тому

      What goes through the fine sieve is the frass and goes in garden and house plants to feed the soil. That fine sieve will still get eggs in it from passing through previous one. Sometimes you’ll STILL have eggs that get through even the fine one.

    Great job! I had a smile on my face the whole time. Because I’ve done this. A couple of things. Tie her about muzzle high when she’s standing, w/ only enough rope to eat. Next, make it easy on yourself, pick a side to milk on. Push her up against something, a fence, wall, large wheelbarrow, whatever. Teach her to accept you sitting near her udder. Then try washing. She did great! You are doing amazing. I love that you’ll do this daily. Or even more than once a day.. You’ve got this. You are so right, if you have your own heifer, it’ll be that much easier to train her from birth. Following and loving it! 😊

    We recently moved to a rural area about 6 months ago. I’ve had my indoor kitty for several years but she’s never encountered mice before. She also wasn’t the most affectionate cat ever but I love her. In the last 2 months tho she has caught 5 mice and she has become way more playful and affectionate. It’s crazy how energetic and alive she is all due to mousing. Scared the hell outta me tho when she came trotting outta my dads room with a paralyzed half dead mouse to present to me 🤣

    Is it possible to rely on only sprouted barley as feed for organic chicken layer? And my second question is Organic chickens lay how many eggs per year, because some say 80 eggs per year and others say more than 150 eggs per year. (In free range) Thank you and God bless you ‏‪

    • @KrusinTheSierra

      No you can’t rely strictly on barley fodder. Depends on the breed of chicken as to how many eggs they will lay per year.

      I sent you voice message. But it is the way that a garlic plant goes to “seed” a garlic scape becomes a flower with seeds in it. You and I planted ours by cloves…. You can also start from seed. I put mine through a food processor last year and then freeze dried and powdered a bunch. I also used in stir fry and I also saved some seeds. I also deep fried some like an onion ring… tasty but stringy.
