Out and about in SD with Skye and Roxy looking for public land roosters.

I was campin' the night of 4/4/24 in far SW MN and there were rooster pheasants making a rukus like I never heard before.

I took Skye and Roxy out to South Dakota for a hunting trip to avoid the MN deer season. We had a fun time. I've still got a lot to learn about all aspects of chasing roosters. The dogs meanwhile are at the head of the class.

Video from Saturday and Sunday on pheasant opener weekend. I hunted the morning with friends each day, and the afternoon solo. All public land.

Follow along as Roxy the 2 year old Golden heads west to bird-hunting candy land. Warm and dry conditions make for tough scenting, but no worries, Roxy's nose knows. Two separate late November days in Iowa hunting wild pheasants on public land. Skye and Roxy do all the heavy lifting, they are field bred golden retrievers. At time of filming Skye is almost 8 and Roxy a shade over 2 years old. Hunting with a dog will change your life in so many good ways. Enjoy.

After Christmas I head to Southern Minnesota to hunt with Skye and Roxy the golden retrievers. With no snow and warm weather the late season hunting is difficult but we manage to find some birds. I'm mainly a public land hunter, but the second half of the video we are on private ground.

Me and Skye the happy golden retriever went out on Sunday Dec. 17th for a golden hour pheasant hunt. Public land, owned by the federal government, open to hunting.

November 3rd 2023 hunting public land in Iowa. Me, Skye, and Roxy got our first ever three rooster limit in Iowa. I love hunting with these field bred golden retrievers. They have great noses and instincts for hunting, I highly recommend the breed for any upland hunter. Every time I take these girls afield they impress me with something new.
