Watching this video was more like listening to a podcast, bro did 90% of actions off camera. Top notch content making 👌
Totally a fair critique! This is a very old video on the channel and I made another bugout scale swap video for this very reason, but I haven't taken this one down as it's the only one I have that showcases the Flytanium tool. Take care.
You turned a good looking knife into an ugly knife
🤣 Happy New Year!! 🎉🎉
oo jeez how bad did you scratch up your lanyard tube
It was pretty bad, this video is pretty cringey for me now 😂
Tactile in general is trash my chukabra lock up is virtually non existent
That's disappointing to hear, thanks for sharing.
How brittle it is ?
Pretty brittle, I don't have the knife anymore but you'd want to keep it to easy cutting tasks.
hows the CPM D2 compare to the CPM M4?
I haven't tested them, but by spec CPM M4 holds an edge better and is tougher but is less corrosion resistant. It'll rust if you look at it wrong.
Man i just want a demko knife. Hopefully i get one for Christmas
🤞
As my opinion if cpm-d2 steel is really more high tech product then it needs more hardening to improve cutting ability. But knife producers do not always clearly understand how it is working or just want to save a bit more durability of the blade with more low heat treatment. For example, on a knife with regular d2 hardness can be 60 HRC and on cpm-d2 can be 59.7 HRC. but for cpm-d2 need 61.5-62 HRC for best cutting. So you can't clearly compare it if you don't know all setup. CPM steels is really have some fine profit but tempering must be done very precisely and in full accordance with the specification of each individual steel, otherwise it will not be a high-class product that actually costs a lot of money about cutting eadge.
in general, more technological steels of the CPM type differ only in that they can be hardened to a slightly higher hardness and at the same time they do not immediately become brittle. And this is exactly what you need to use when making premium knives. Although users are different and almost anything can be wasted, it is possible that manufacturers do not risk it. But at the same time, they also do not always produce the same premium product.
Thanks for sharing your insight.
I had a RAT2 in d2, put a crazy slicy edge on it. 17 degrees inclusive. That thing was such a great knife. I gave it to a buddy who hopefully is taking care of it.
Good ol rat
Sooooo the spots that the ammonia is dribbled onto will NOT patina, right? Only the spots that the ammonia GAS reacting with the salt will patina? Trying to understand how exactly this works before doing it my first time so I can kinda paint on the exact spots I want to be more blue
The ammonia will patina but the salt gives the blue reaction.
Don't look now... but you caught a rat 😂. It took me a moment to even realize it, but I'm sure glad I did.
Thanks for noticing! Glad you enjoyed
BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES: I worked at tactile for a year, they have HORRIBLE management and ownership and consistently produce a VERY inconsistent product, screws not flush, surface imperfections, and sometimes knives with occasional lock files will still get sent out (I remember tons of returns for lockfails). The cerekote knives regularly have small chips and they would knowingly send them out to customers anyway, forcing the customer to decide if the imperfection is worth the hassle of a return. THIS COMPANY IS TRASH
Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback.
