Well at one time the striped bass (Morone saxatilis) numbers were pretty much decimated in Nova Scotia but have had a huge resurgence, with many enjoying the exciting fishery. In the past, you were lucky if at all to catch one of these fish in this area.
It was windy but the sun was shining and I was in the company of my brother along with his friend Kevin who I just met. The wharf was full of people mackerel fishing and spending time on the water.
My brother had been catching numerous bass in Cape Breton so we decided to try here. I had some new gear so I was putting it to the test. You can't go wrong with a Shakespeare Ugly Stik rod. We had mackerel and herring for bait.
It started off slow but we do get into some fish. I won't spoil that here in the summary.
We ended the day at Big Al's for a bite. Later in the evening we had steaks on the BBQ and beers around a fire. Life is good.
