No bro. There is no such requirement. But the dell g7 model exhibits a great dip in performance if you go off power(on battery). So it's always best to be connected to power while playing games...

@@flashretry317 my issue is (im using a gtx 1060) i get high gpu usage and low cpu usage but i disabled power throttling and undervolted my cpu (i5 8300h) the low cpu usage causes massive lagging in games and low fps

@@jks931 go to drivers and downloads in the dell website.then it asks you to specify your laptop. Then under drivers you will see it showing an updated version of power manager.Download that and install..

jose de los santos Bro if your g7 is new don’t update the bios from 1.3 ever. If you update you will face high temps in any game you play. If you have aldready updated it to a version higher than 1.3 then you will definitely face the thermal problem. In that case this is a sure-shot solution which lets you get up to 50 FPS without throttling...

FLASH RETRY I also have dell g7 and I updated it from 1.3 bios and now no matter how much I undervolt my Gpu temps reach 91 degrees I tired msi afterburner to limit the temps but it was locked will this work

@@varshatilekar9714 This will definitely work. my case is a perfect example showcasing the results. Your system will get hot but fps drops will stop and you will be able to run games smoothly

@@varshatilekar9714 Yes everyone who has a bios version later than 1.3 will have the same problem because the bios set the GPU temp limit to 78. So all AAA titles if set at 1080p or higher will def go beyond 78 degrees (averaging at 83-85). So you will get throttling. So the only way is to increase this limit which can be done by ASUS GPU TWEAK II which solves the current problem. I have been using this method to play ac odyssey and GTA 5 which gives me an average of 40-45 fps with very rare and no drops. SO it's working for me, Hope it works for you. Moreover without this constantly my fps would drop to 12-18 fps and would suddenly go up to 50 fps and again drop. It was really annoying and this helped me a lot. Give it a try. It won't hurt.

I had the same problem. Intensive frame drops . I tested it with MSI Afterburner and it showed that when the temp reached 78 degrees(5-6 seconds) the throttling begins and continues. The reason for this is of course the Infamous Dell BIOS update which after 1.3 has turned Dell G series laptops into Frying pans. I did a lot of Searching and finally came upon a solution which should give you a stable 30-40 fps with occasional frame lag. Basically all you got to do is first disable turbo boost either in bios and undervolt your laptop by following the video above. Hope this works.. and hope Dell recruits engineers instead of useless smoothtalkers and bot resembling acting professionals into their support.

@@klejvi_123 Dell has placed a restriction on downgrading the bios i.e. YOU CANNOT GO BACK TO BIOS 1.3 WHICH IS THE BIOS WITH PERFECT THERMALS. One thing you can do is Restart your system-> Press F2 continuously(Bios menu)-> Reset the Bios to defaults(You will find the restore default button in the bottom left)->Then Disable Intel Turbo boost(Just scroll though the options on the right side and you will find it)-->This will at least give you 30-40 fps with occasional lag...

Ajflash One last question will I get a performance drop because right now I can get 60-70 by the problem will be frame drops

Reinstall nvidia driver but download the driver directly from the internet and not through geforce experience. Then while installing select custom installation and then select delete all profiles. then this problem wont occur. if you still have problems first format your c drive then uninstall dell update and then do the above said. It will def work...

i tried using throttlevolt to adjust the CPU core and cache, though the frame drops have gone the system hasn't performed to its best capacity after the bios update.That is why this seemed a little better...

@@packersfan036 I used throttlestop and also disabled my turbo boost which worked to a decent level..
