Wow, great car, great guy and really interesting watch. Im currently restoring my 1981 DHC, I originally bought it in 1989 when i was 16, my dream car from watching the rallying when i was a kid, ive just picked up a 3.5l V8, subframe etc so it'll hopefully sound as good as yours when its finished 🤞

The Stutz looks a lot like the 70's 'Pimpmobile' that were popular among a certain demographic in the US. Of course, they were usually nothing more than a Lincoln or Cadilac with a bunch of bolt-on accessories. Not nearly as nice as a Stutz Or something like the Corvorado from the Jame Bond movies, Live and Let Die.

Saw a Stutz at the Sydney International Motor show in 1974. I believe it was styled by former Chrysler design supremo, Virgil Exner who was also responsible for the R Series valiant assembled in Australia

I remember seeing a white Stutz in Melbournes east in the very early eighties, it looked incredible compared to the mostly 70s era cars around.

What a car! and a thoroughly bloody good bloke. Thanks for sharing top stuff! As for The New Avengers TR7, it only appeared in a few episodes because it kept breaking down with electrical problems. It never put Joanna Lumley off as she had a convertible converted to a Grinnall V8 in the 1908's....as did I. Still have a 7 all original and has never been welded, I have not upgraded it at all because I want the drive to be as it was when I was a 20 year old and that adds to the experience. The turning circle on the 7 is way superior to modern cars these days. Great video luv it!!

We had lot's of Capri's in Canada, they were everywhere, We have pinto squire wagon and its has a Capri V6 in it, some rare option. Capri's rusted like crazy, 10 year car. and they were gone. Old cars are our time machines.

Back in the nineties I did a four inch wider Healey on a 100/4 with Jaguar suspension and discs all round, 445 bhp stroker Chevrolet and a six speed Richmond box.. We met a guy from the Healey factory back in 2004 in Switzerland at a Healey do, he and his wife were a great team we had a memorable ding dong on the road one day ! great fun. Regards to you both cant believe it was twenty years ago !!

Great to see the Esprit doing well so far from Norwich (the home of Lotus). I'm from Norwich with an 85 turbo Esprit. Funnily enough my rear lights are from the SD1 up side down. I love the SD1 such a great looking car. My mates dad had a race tuned V8 one, we done 140mph on the way back from King's Lynne in the 80s.

The jag definitely did not come on those wheels. The ones in the video have a visible centre cap and look chrome. The bumpers also don’t look stock in the video clip. I find it really surprising that the bloke restoring it doesn’t know and looked at those horrible 80s things thinking they were correct.

Very nice American Iron collection, one thing is on stateside muscle cars the c.i. Call outs were not on the hood unless that was specific to the model . But each to their own, I guess he’s proud of the engine size.

I like the AMC method of dealing with the space between the bumper and the body. GM had those plastic filler panels that broke and faded easily and nobody in the aftermarket makes.

Wonderful video and a trip down memory lane. I had a '73 Rambler Matador sedan, and there was a bloke in the next town who had 2 Javelins (a red one and a back one) of a similar vintage to the one in the video, and I would have loved one of those too, but alas, even back in the mid 80's Javelin's were pricy things (I think he sold the black one for circa $20k around that time), and well out of my reach. I bought my Matador in '87 off family for $1500 (mates rates?) and used it as a second/weekend car for about 7 years, and loved every minute of it - one of my mates at the time when summing up how luxurious/comfortable it was in comparison to it's contemporary locally built competition, declared, "this is a real lazy mans car", hahaha. Would love to own a "classic" Rambler again someday. Cheers!

Great looking SD1

Dick Teague is criminally under-rated and yes, the Lambo-curves of the Matador X are indeed best without 5mph bumpers. I'll bet that his original sketch did not have them, and originality is a fool's game with a mass-produced vehicle - for me, modifications should be IN PERIOD (those modern wheels would be sold immediately!). I would fit driving lights in the mounting holes, so as not to depreciate the car for the "factory is God" nuts.

Ray is a great fella. I remember going to his Museum at Gormandale as a kid. Often see him working away at his Traralgon shed. Can only dream of expanding my Mopar collection to match his! Cheers
