Sands - Saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families.
Every day in the UK, 13 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth and in 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in loss. Sands works to save babies’ lives and support anyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby. Sands’ vision is a world where fewer babies die and when a baby does die, anyone affected receives the best possible care and support for as long as it is needed.
Sands provides bereavement support services both nationally through its Freephone helpline, mobile app, online community and resources, and locally through a network of around 100 regional support groups based across the UK and run by trained befrienders.

This film is aimed at supporting newly bereaved parents with clear information about the purpose of a review into care after a baby dies, and how parents might be involved. It contains the voices of bereaved parents talking about their own experiences and how it helped them. It also features the voices of healthcare professionals from maternity, newborn and children’s care, describing what parents can expect from the review process.
