Easy Trick or Treat Halloween Cupcake + Decorations from Walmart!
I am a big fan of the double layered buttercream swirls on cupcakes- go big or go home! 😇 in all seriousness, this cupcake was a breeze to whip up and look how cute it is! I was able to purchase my sprinkles, glitter and lollipops all from @Walmart which makes things easier and more cost-effective!
Details:
🍭Sprinkle mix and edible glitter spray: @wilton - might I just add that I put this glitter spray on literally everything! I’ve even been adding it to wedding cakes to give is that shimmery, romantic finish! ✨
🍭Lollipops from Walmart- these came individually wrapped and you could definitely leave them that way and still place on the cupcake, but o preferred to unwrap so that I could add glitter to them!
🍭This cupcake is meant to be fun! Use whatever you have on hand that feels right! Lollipops could be subbed for macs, candies, royal icing or fondant toppers, etc.

    I did a gender reveal cake referring to your video. It came out great. The best thing is you did not frost the inside of the hole so the sprinkles flow out and do not have to be dug out as in some reveals according to my daughter - she was impressed with mine.

    What steps do you take to avoid bulges where the bc is between the layers?

      Not letting it bulge from the beginning is a big help- so, when I apply the buttercream filing layers, I then need to smooth them out immediately. The cake and coating of frosting should be flush with each other when I scrape and smooth. I have never had success with warm or room temperature cakes. Working with very cold cakes allows the frosting to set quickly and then you can smooth easily and prevent any bugles.

    How do you have no air bubbles in the cream? I tried all the tips and there are always tons of little holes

      Hi! Thanks for watching! It comes down to the consistency of the buttercream. It has to be whipped enough and soft enough that you’ve got as much air pockets out of the buttercream as possible, prior to applying to the cake. Inevitably you may still have some “bubbles” or air pockets when you ice the cake that you will need to “pop”, refill with frosting and smooth it. This is definitely true for Swiss meringue buttercream. When I used American I didn’t have as many air pockets. I like to whip my buttercream to a yogurt like consistency! It’s very soft and creamy! Hope this helps.

    Do the cake safe’s have cushioning on the bottom? Our road out here are falling apart and are bumpy. Would a cake safe keep them safe?

      Hi! Unfortunately there is no cushion and it wouldn’t keep it safe! We have encountered multiple issues before☹️.

      Hello! We are sorry for such a late reply. For a baby shower cake like this it would cost around $1300 not including flower, delivery or setup!

      I can’t remember if I did here! I only add Tylose if I need something to dry and get hard quickly. Once you add tylose, you do have to work quick because it’s incredibly drying.

      Ehhhhh I think I’ve seen people spritz the styrofoam with water but I haven’t tried it before. I haven’t tried this either but just a thought- maybe you could try piping gel?

    After you add the chocolate baubles, can you place the cake back in the fridge? And is this sturdy enough to transport?

      Yes as long as the condensation in the fridge isn’t high. It’s chocolate/candy melts so it’ll get sticky if there’s a lot of moisture. I will say that for transport, it’s definitely safer to use styrofoam spheres - add a cake pop stick and then dip in chocolate and place into the cake once they’re set.

      Aghhhh I don’t use whip on cakes so I’m not entirely sure but I bet you could do it! Maybe won’t have as clean a finish but would still look lovely!

    Hi i have a question and id love some advise. Im new to wedding cakes and i would love to know how do you stack cakes at the wedding venue when the cakes are not cold due to the drive. I have an order this weekend and its stressing me to stack at rhe venue

      Great questions! I have two questions- 1. Are you using Swiss meringue or American buttercream? If you’re using American, it should crust making it a little bit easier to stack when not cold! 2. Do you have access to even something small to keep the top tier chilled? The top tier is the smallest so even a little insulated box with an ice pack? For me, keeping the cake chilled is essential. It’s so difficult and stressful when the buttercream has become soft!

      Thank you! Okay so the small acrylic one was a regular size acrylic that I accidentally broke and it ended up being the perfect size for touching up seems when stacking! I also really like to use detail scrapers because they’re small and super thin!

    Delivering tiered cakes is probably the most terrifying thing ever. I delivered my first 5 tiered wedding cake fully stacked and decorated in once peace an hour away thanks to my cakesafe. Best investment ever
