I bought one with 161k from the same year and it gave me problems when I go slow without touching the accelerator and I want to speed up the car starts to accelerate on its own and hits me, and I have no idea why it could be

Ended up getting rid of the car for a different vehicle. No point in towing around a battery and electrical system that didn’t work and Kia wouldn’t fix. They sent a check for about $800 and I traded it in to be someone else’s problem. If Kia wants to try again with this failed hybrid experiment I’d be open to it if they would actually honor their warranty.

Hello, I have a 2012 Kia Optima hybrid and my car charges the entire battery on its own. It does that when I put it in cruising speed (60 miles/speed limit.) I travel 25 minutes on the highway (from my work to my home) and in that time the car alternates between electric and gasoline motor, in After 15 or 10 minutes the battery appears full. The battery does NOT last long because when the battery is full, the gasoline engine turns off and begins to consume the battery. I have NOT noticed if my normal driving also charges the battery fully, but at cruising speed it does.

Hy buddy im living Dubai🇦🇪 i have also optima 2013 hybrid same like above showing in my car driving under verry hot whether and parking long time in very hot whether, but not like this completely full mine was before H level.. but in normal whether it was normally working as like 80% charged it will go to the EV mode any way my opinion is reduce driver the car most sunny day and when driving the car keep a/c on for cool the cabin temperature good🙏👍

Vism Technologies please read your manual. That meter indicates charge level, not temperature. The state of charge (SOC) gauge indicates the hybrid battery's charge level. If the SOC is near L level, the vehicle auto matically operates the engine to charge the battery. However, if the service indicator and MIL(Malfunction indicator lamp) turn on when the State of Charge(SOC) is near L(Low), the vehicle should be towed. Refer to the chapter 6.

Omar Cruz wasn't useless to Kia. They sent me a check last month acknowledging their hybrid system is a large paper weight in the trunk.

Happens to me....my has 73000 miles...acording to me the car still under waranty....dealer told me that only engine and trans are cover but not your hybrid system....hybrid system is 5 yrs or 60000 miles......the fkn hybrid battery itself its 3500$ plus labor.

@@edwinjiscoa5695 The hybrid system is covered to 100K and 120k in some states after your 1st service. Kia replaced my transmission at 86k and hybrid battery at 105k. Call Kia corp. and explain your issues . As far as dealerships go i find that the more rural out in the country mechanics you deal with the more honest they are.

Hi I have an issue with my 2011 kia optima hybrid, when the engine is cold everything is perfectly working. As soon as the engine gets hot, thats the start of having the issue. Especially when the weather get hot. When the engine is hot, basically from driving it, and slowing down or coming from a complete stop, when i try to accelerate, the electric motor does not respond and it waits til the engine takes over in order for you to be able to drive or move the car (about 3 seconds delay from a complete stop). So when the engine gets rest a bit, then its all goes back to normal (well not quite, electric motor responds but not too long til it switches to gas motor). Basically its all about when it gets hot (weather and the engine). Do you think its something like a sensor?

I have exactly the same car. Mine doesn't do that bro. For example, it always turns off the gas engine when I'm driving in a parking lot or downhill.

Noticed that your hybrid battery is overheated. The manual says that the cabin cools the battery. There are two vents behind the rear seats (one on each side) that have to be cleaned periodically. If not the system will protect itself by keeping it in gas mode. Look at right side of the left gauge cluster where your battery icon is signaling that thing are too hot. I run my AC most of the time but only saw it go that once when it the cabin to 82 to warm things up. Hope that helps.

@@vismtechnologies1997 that guage is the battery charge level (high and low) not hot and whatever you thought the L would be. When it gets to L, that means you have a bad battery.

wow thats a lot of problems ,mine did the hybrid system warning thing twice so far .im about 65000kms in the car .i commute far away so with a full tank of gas i get about 600-650kms driving like a mad man.most i got out of a tank was 750kms
