Just a little snippet because I’ve been MIA. This is how I get food to my animals. All of their diets are also subsidized with table scraps and fresh veg, but this is the bulk of their protein.
Getting our tree | Holiday Tradition

Each year we trek out to Moss Family Christmas Tree Farm here in GA and pick out our tree. We got a 10ft tree this year but I’m thinking we can do 12ft with these ceilings…save that info for Brad next year!
DIY HERRINGBONE WALL | GARAGE FEATURE WALL | MAN CAVE OF DREAMS
Переглядів 6434 місяці тому
We had a bunch of wood leftover from our garage’s construction, and with Jack starting preschool I had more time to put into creating something fun for my husbands man cave/garage wall. This is DEFINITELY a more finicky option, chevron is much easier than herringbone because you can bulk cut successfully. For this herringbone pattern I highly recommend measuring individual pieces as much as pos...

Just a little video for the memory bank of Jack’s first day of preschool! Technically it’s not really preschool because he’s only 2, but the school he goes to does more of a structured daycare with learning activities etcetera 👌🏼 Feeling very positive about the whole experience; definitely reaffirms how much I love living in a small town x

Just some bits and bobs we got up to last week! Brad was home about 50% of the time, we had some random outings (not a regular thing for us) and celebrated the 4th of July, so it was slightly busier than usual. Jack will be 2 in two weeks and the piglets only have 2 more weeks with us on the farm! I named the piglet we’re keeping Augustus (Gus), and tended to a sick chicken. All normal fun thin...

    Wow wonderful video Nicole. Your UA-cam channel has low amount of views. Because your video doesn't have SEO friendly title, description and tag optimization. If you do SEO on your videos, your videos will rank on UA-cam and views and subscribers will increase. Your video quality is good but you do not get more views because of this SEO problem. If you want i can help you with that.

    Everything is good accept one crucial mistake. Your rabbits are gonna get sick or possibly die because of that stain. Stain is very toxic and rabbits are known to chew and eat wood which meant eating cancerous toxic stain. Shoulda thought that through too.

    Great video! We have chickens for eggs. I've harvested some roosters and do not like the process. I grew up hunting whitetail deer and swamp rabbits. I'm thinking I'll greatly prefer raising and harvesting rabbits for meat over chickens.

      For the low fat in the meat and the poop for your garden

    • @rockitrocket
      @rockitrocket 9 місяців тому

      They might not have a lot of meat on one, but they give anywhere from 5-16 kits a litter, and their poop is probably one of the best fertilizers there is. They also provide fur and companionship. You can sell the kits as breeders, meat, or pets for extra money, and they don’t cost much to raise. Plus, their meat is one of the healthiest and most nutritious. And I think it’s pretty obvious that home grown meat is better than store bought commercial. I bit into a piece of glass imbedded in my chicken once…

    • @CJ-zh2lo
      @CJ-zh2lo 6 місяців тому

      Most of us love the self sufficient sustainability of being able to provide your own meat for your family. It’s Healthier than any other meat I.e low fat, low cholesterol, high protein etc. Their feed is grass or hay which can be FREE if from your property. They are silent, which can be raised in non farm areas like neighborhoods. They have large litters and breed frequently providing many litters per year. They are a white meat like chicken and have a very mild taste and can be substituted in all chicken recipes. IMO they’re one of the best backyard animals instead of chickens. Oh and their poop is safe to put directly in the garden for fertilizer. 😊

      4H, meat if you use a specific breed, their poop is like gold to the garden, they’re adorable and friendly, you can sell the babies too.

  • @drcdrdoct9864

    They look nice. My only redflag I see is the chicken wire bottom. If you're planning to move these which you will have to do to get them off their poop, consider putting 1x2 slats on the bottom. Space them around 3" apart and it will slide much better and give them a better access to grass and dig a little bit but not enough to leave. But you need to move them every day to avoid cocci. They're cool little hutches for sure. Wish I had the ability to sit and draw it out first. Might save me a few hrs of doing and redoing.

    love this, looking at getting a couple of rabbits and want to make my own hutch! what measurements did you use?

    • @Niconthefarm
      @Niconthefarm 9 місяців тому

      I did 6’x4’x4.5’ the run section is 2’ tall which is plenty for the rabbits, and the hutch part you can make as tall or short as you want depending on your height - you need you be able to reach in to change bedding etc so it should be below your armpits x

    Nothing like a bit of confidence when cutting out the place for the gate and installing it. I was wondering if Brad used a level to balance the gate? Perhaps he's got an educated eye for such things with the experience flying a plane. What a lovely day for Jack. I sometimes think that Jack gets frustrated because he's just a toddler and knows he's restricted. You won't be able to contain him by the time he's three! He knows his own mind and is quite the young man. It's always good to have a real live cuddle porky to cuddle into like...(? can't think what his name is. Something unusual, like Tank..) Bessy's mate. Much better than sucking one's thumb and dragging a security blanket around. Aren't those hiking cabooses great attachments! Not too heavy for you, I trust. I wish my Mother had had them when she was going about her farm chores with a 2 yr old and a baby in hand, all by herself. Her husband wasn't the helping hand that yours is. Times change, thank goodness. 💕

    Why don't you get a water tote joined at the chicken coop by using a self constructed PVC water drainage system from the roof to fill with water then connected to automatic water pipes with self serving cups at the end. If you go to a u-tube channel called "End of Nowhere Farm," you will discover something different for a permanent automatic water system for animals. There's lots of u-tube DIY videos on how to reduce effort and increase efficacy - save time.

She has a lot of good nutritional practices for her goats to keep them healthy and strong pre and post partum, ( I suppose you can have post partum for goats) Anyway, if you think you need it - it couldn't hurt - might even help.
