I wonder how much advantage there is to designing these weaves on a computer? Weavers have the best computer there is - their own minds! I see them create new designs in their imaginations, and plan designs without any need of a laptop. Perhaps using a computer facilitates the collaboration between weaver and designer to invent designs that are not constrained by traditional design layout. To my eye, the competition designs do not have the complexity, beauty and liveliness of weaves using traditional layouts. Perhaps this will take time to develop, and teaming designers & weavers together is the first step. I am interested to see how this develops over the next decade.
