I’m following everything here and it’s not working
Hey Leonardo, let's get you set-up - email hello@lukerosspost.com and I can help troubleshoot any issues 👍🏼
I just got it, but how do I install it?
The set up video is here: ua-cam.com/video/jHs3DFgTshM/v-deo.htmlsi=Xa89ScvaVpTDEvvN
Hi , so how would one track the bg if fg has a pan motion ? I tried tracking but bg seems to be not in line with fg motion . Am i doing anything wrong on tracking part ?
why dont you just watch through the shot?
Navigating to the first, middle and last frame is the quickest experience that I've had conforming in Resolve. It does depend a little bit on the type of project that you're working on, but I work on a fair bit of documentary content. Talking head shots (interview shots) are so fast using my method 😁 at the end of the day though, it's definitely personal preference!
How do i use the "legal to full range" "full to legal range" with red raw footage?
I need to see a tutorial on how to use the Patch replacer to remove stray hairs sticking up on top of someone's head asap!!!
this film graded in assilimate scratch..
the problem is, i go to next clip, see i need edit i did on previous clip, i go back, but at that point ripple changes doesnt work any more
Nice tip
Omg man! It's gold! I think we'd know that if read the official manual 🤓
That is an interesting idea - I have jumped like that using active playhead markers, but that takes a liitle more effort but - you are able to park each on any frame - so if you want to have something comparable - placing the active playheads is more accurate. But I like this as well for use as described.
Thanks Jim!
very good video
Thanks mate!
Thank you so much for this documents!
No worries Hugo!
great video, very useful
Glad it was helpful!
I ran scene cut detection and it made a million little cuts that I don't want. I don't want to manually delete points. How do I RESET the Scene Cut Detection for a video file??
Hey! Adjusting the pink line upwards will reduce the amount of cuts in the file, so that's a great first step. If you've already clicked "Add Cuts to Media Pool" you can use Ctrl+Z to undo this action. There's no way to "reset" all of the marks, you can only manually delete points 👍🏼
@@lukerosspost I did Scene Detect on a file that had transitions and it ended up making a million cuts, manually erasing them would take over an hour, so that sucks that there is no Reset function or anything, using After Effects
@@PTFWWDB The shortcut keys are "N" (next) "P" (previous) and if you use them with the "-" key (delete) you can trim tens of cuts in a few seconds. Transitions should be generally be supplied as separate files though, you may need to go back to editorial and ask them to supply you the footage with handles!
Very well done video. Thank you very much
Do you colour grade animated works? Because from what I understand animated shows/films are colour graded to match the gamut of the projector being used and less for style.
Hey! I haven't graded that many animated films, but the same principles and rules of colour management and colour grading apply 😊 there's a lot you can to do enhance the grade of an animated film. For example, I watched a colourist use power windows to add shadows from light sources while grading animated films, really fine detail work!
Unless something has changed in Premiere you’d need to force DNxHR444 to Full Levels for Premiere to interpret them correctly.
why did you choose resolve over baselight? (i don't like resolve color science)
Wild🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sir any idea I have done short film in rec 709 color space now I want to trim pass in dci p3 in projection room..so I have to change odt rec to p3 dci ...any method u have ...easy
First go to resolve project settings>color management> video monitor lookup table> choose Rec709 to Dci p3. Do your trim pass. After trim pass turn off that settings. Not need to change your ODT..
More of these “how to use this useful feature (in new and improved ways) videos please 👍🏿
This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this information Luke.. Subscribed.
Thanks mate! I have done a few updated videos on the conforming process in the past few months (this is a few years old now), so feel free to check them out!
Great video. However, you forgot to go into the advanced settings to select rec709-a or rec709 gamma 2.2 for web.
Thanks for the comment! This is an interesting topic that I'm actually about to discuss in an upcoming Mixing Light insight! Make sure you're subscribed if you want to hear a discussion around this 😊 (www.mixinglight.com)
Mouse pads 👍
Love that. What kind of design would you like on a mousepad? 😜
Good job! 👍
Thanks mate!
You got a new sub 🙌🏻
bro in which platform you get client
Networking and gaining clients can come in lots of different ways. I always recommend reaching out to local video production agencies in your area and introducing yourself. It's great to go grab a coffee without an agenda and get to know what their needs are. Online works well too though, as this video demonstrates! There's a few great film and screen production Facebook groups here in New Zealand and that's where I posted the message for this specific video. I'm not a huge Facebook fan, but it's a great tool sometimes.
@@lukerosspost thnx for your recommendation a start to reaching out offline client
Hello Luke, i love your channel and the way you share your knowledge. I would like to share a tip with you, maybe you already know it. If you scene cut detect in mediapool it creates a lot of sub clip, but if you remove them and instead drag and drop the native clip, it will relink all the offline cuts on this only media.
Looks great! Great tutorial delivery too, as always. I like to ask for a EDL to cut up the file so that I can Extract reel names from the EDL comments.
Awesome...
Thanks mate!
Golden video! Showing the process and the real world scenario.
As a beginner colorist, who has never used any Stream Deck, which model would you recommend? I understand they both have their pros and cons but which do you feel is the strongest for all around purposes?
This is a great question. It depends! I'm currently using the Stream Deck Plus with a Resolve Micro Panel. I'm planning on bringing back the Stream Deck XL again soon, but I'm working out the best way to layout my desk. I think my advice to someone who doesn't have any external devices would be: buy the Stream Deck Plus or Stream Deck XL first. Then, buy a Resolve or Tangent panel. Then, supplement your set-up with more Stream Decks if needed. The original Stream Deck and the Stream Deck Mini are great for a tight budget, but if you have the cash, the Stream Deck XL and the Plus are better
Your series in Baselight are exceptional. Would love in some day to see a workflow in Baselight, kind like in DAVINCI. How to create a look, day to night etc. Would also hear your opinions about the Baselight and DaVinci as you are one that have work with both.
Thank you! Definitely keen to produce more Baselight content this year so I'll keep your ideas in mind 🎉
Very well thought out, Luke! Your tutorials on this are very well done and clear. Bravo! I was able to put it all together today with your well thought out profile configurations and it is a great companion to my panel and other Stream Decks. Scott
🔥🔥
Nice. If you were to do an image noise reduction via resolve studio or something like neat image where do you think you'd put it? beginning of all nodes even prior to the qualifier parralel node?
Thanks for the comment! It does depend a little, especially if you're pulling a key. Normally though I would place a denoise node towards the end of my node tree 😊
I love the stream deck usage, I've been wanting to really upgrade my use of it. I've always found it easier to overlay the reference at 50% opacity though, especially for transform matching. You notice immediately when something is off, and can quickly tell how your source shot needs to change.
Cheers for the comment Nathan! I'm definitely not inclined to use any sort of blend mode personally, but I know it works great for some people! There's something that I prefer about seeing the online and offline separately that appeals to me. Especially if there are input scaling errors or stabilizations, I find it less confusing to evaluate both images cleanly 🎉
nice tutorial, thank you sir!
Thanks mate, happy to help!
Well done, Luke. Thank you. This is a very nice tutorial ... and , the Stream Deck + looks like another piece of gear that I need. It looks like you have a tutorial on setting it up, too. Bravo.
You can pull the audio from the reference in the media page. Right click on it and select Extract audio.
Hi! Nice trick on getting to the middle frame of each clip 🔥 On the edit page, you can right-click the viewer and compare the timeline and the offline in Difference mode. I think that’s the best way to confirm a dead match! this also let’s you stay in that mode while you fly through the timeline without having to toggle the reference on & off 👍🏾
What if reference clip has wrong start time code ?
Hey! You could either change the timeline starting timecode or manipulate the reference clip’s timecode in ‘clip attributes’, either or to get them to match 😊
😮 🔥
I've tried countless times to install it, and every time it says "Global Formats Database Host Your preference for the formats database host is set to localhost which could not be contacted. This application cannot continue until this is resolved. Press Quit and retry later if the database machine is temporarily offline. Alternatively enter a new database host,or delele the text entirely to use the default setting of the local system“ What should I do? I'm crashing.
Hey, that sounds very frustrating! I'd recommend getting in touch with the Baselight Look support team - they're responsive and should be able to help you get it running: student@filmlight.ltd.uk
Wow, this was great, I've always wanted to match a shot from this film, it's one of my all time favorites. Great work and awesome tutorial!
Thanks Ben!
Excellent stuff Luke.
Easily one the top "explanations" of the parallel node that I've found so far... Great little tutorial, but oh so valuable! I thank you, Sir, for your time and effort on this!
Thank you sir!
Thank, save my time.
