What do you mean 'without burdening your children'! Our society is really losing something by not caring for our parents. Maintaining regular family contact and engagement is important. We have so much to learn from them, and so much to give them. The later years of our parents lives are very precious to us, and we want to give something back to them. The family unit is so important, and grandchildren so need their grandparents.

As a 72 years old, I find that staying engaged with young people helps you stay mentally sharp and current. Also having a strong relationship with Jesus Christ is essential for a healthy body, soul and spirit.

9 I am 77 years old and am a caregiver for my husband. We live in our home and do not want to live with our children or in assisted living, prefer to live on our own as long as possible. I am glad I found this site as I am very interested to hear what other people have found to help them as they get to the point in life where they want to remain living alone but start to need assistance.

I’m 78 and live alone in independent senior apartments. I have a son and daughter in law that I know care about me, but I’ve learned over the last 10 years that I can’t depend on them to keep me happy and entertained. They are there for me if I need them, but they have their own lives and responsibilities, so I’ve learned how to depend on myself and try to make my own happiness. I’ve been blessed with pretty good health and a financial situation that allows me to be totally independent at this point. I exercise 5 days a week to try to keep myself strong. I’m constantly researching health issues on UA-cam and other sites to try to help keep myself healthy. I’ve actually cured myself of a few ailments that the doctors couldn’t. My life is not perfect, but I believe that I have a blessed life.

What a Stupid question! I think it’s the children’s responsibility. Today, kids make every excuse not to help Parents. They’re too busy being Selfish and unconcerned. Too busy being Greedy! They forgot all the sacrifices Parents made raising them. I’m glad to know that tradition is still alive in Europe, because it’s certainly Dead in America. We are the most irresponsible, selfish people on the planet!

9, my husband died 17 years ago, i have a handicapped daughter only so i have no one to help me shes in a wheelchair and is quadroplegic. My back is very bad with arthritis. I live in the country where i like it but we dont have a soul to help us and believe me we dont get help. If i die m6 daughter will die a slow hard death since she cant talk, walk, or chew food. I pray everyday God will allow us to go together. Im 75 and shes 55.

I give a 9 however being in Canada I don't know the value of the money used. I am 89 yrs old and live in an apartment. I would like a caring elder friend group but 31:38 at least have folks on my floor who help each other pretty good. My family lives out of town but they visit me every month and are here for any important Dr's appointment. I wish us all well and our children too. ❤
