TL-B12 Extrem : Do you Need Extrem Performance?
I think the Phanteks T30, Iceberg Thermal Icegale Xtra 120, Super Flower Megacool 120, and Hyte THICC FP120 (and possibly others) are missing in the last two charts (chart 4/5 and 5/5) at 12:43.
Thicc is ther Rank 5 at 100% ooler (Cooler) text is cut off. T30 is ranked 5 as well, Megacool 1, There is a lot of admittedly hard to read text on the raw data screen. Its everything that was used for the graphs just missing the graphs.
@@computer-tech-more I just checked again. Those fans are not in the 4th and 5th charts. I see those fans on the 3rd chart but not 4th and 5th. Also, what are the 4th and 5th charts? They just say "Noise Normalized" and "100%". Of what though? Air speed? CFM? Air pressure? Free air? Through cooler? Through rad? Also, I think you should separate 140 and 120 mm results but that's just personal opinion.
Thanks for another video. It would be helpful if you could title the charts. Eg. At 12:43, there are 5 columns of charts, none of the 5 have titles so the viewer doesn't really know what they're looking at.
The Green Text bars are the titles, but ya not really easy to read. Left to Right: Best Overall (Avg score), Cooler Noise normalized, Cooler 100%< Then case Simulation test distances
The Arctic P12 Max is very weak according to my unscientific hand-feel and paper-fluttering tests. At the same or near-same RPM, the Cooler Master Mobius High Performance OC blows more air, harder, and a further distancer...and the Iceberg Thermal Icegale Xtra, Phanteks T30, and Super Flower Megacool 120 (and possibly the Hyte THICC FP120 - I haven't owned/tested one) completely and utterly obliterate not only the P12 Max but the Mobius HP OC as well. I did testing in free air (least important), pull-intake (Cooler Master HAF 932 side-panel), and on a Hardware Labs GTR radiator which is about 150-200 % the air-restrictiveness of the HW Labs GTX due to a much different design despite both being "16 FPI on paper" . Unlike the GTX, the GTR has a double fin design, different fin thickness, different fin height, louvered fins, and more coolant tubes all within the same size radiator core which effectively makes it something like 24-32 FPI. In all 3 environments (free air, case intake, rad), the P12 Max was easily, easily the weakest in all 3 categories (amount of air, distance, how hard it hits) with both tests "objects" (hand, paper).
I upgraded the ram and ssd . Now my asus sitrix g17 KB isn't working. Kb lights as well. Rogg symbol on the outside lits up though. The 2 cables for rgb lights are linked to KB as well?
Check they are installed correctly. Other than i'm not sure what could have happened.
shockingly mediocre for a noctua fan, even a low cost one I guess the takeaway is that it's ok as a pressure fan at 1300rpm if you already have it?
basically yes
Great review! Ive bought 3 of those for 15$ (all 3!). Brand new, some guy take them from aio to swap them for white Arctic argb fans :) So i was curious how they perform and not bad at all. Happy to have them ;) also for people looking for advice if you buy them (or have them laying around) and those were also from aio, have in mind this version has different cable not just standard 4-pin pwm but 7-pin (pwm signal and led) to connect with splitter. If you can and know how making new cable is easy but if its to hard just cut some plastic and connect to standard 4-pwm with that method the led dosent work. But as was said in review it depends if the price was good :p
thank you for sharing your experience with these fans. Glad it sounds like your happy with them.
I recently bought a Liam Li O11 Vision. I was wondering what fan would you recommend for using 3 at the bottom of case for intake fan?
If the O11 can fit 140's use either the toughfan 14 pro or the P14/ 14max. if you dont care about RGB If you like RGB I have a separate round up video. I cant recall which tested the best.
Hello can you please tell me is there a big difference between TOUGHFAN 14 PRO and TOUGHFAN 14 in noise. It seems that the pro version is better but it is not available in white which is a must Thanks in advance
The Pro is a bit quieter for the same performance level. They might make a white eventually. The Toughfan turbo is kind of in between
@@computer-tech-more Thanks man, that helps me a lot. I asked Toughfan support and they aren't planning on making a white version of the Pro variant. Do you know a model that has similar performance to TOUGHFAN 14 but in white and quiet. Thanks in advance ♥️👍
@@pepijarak3393 I actually dont keep track of color of the fans. sorry. You would need to see what brands have white and see if i have a review or just ask if I reviewed a specific fan. I have a huge backlog of videos coming out of fans already tested.
The Iceberg Thermal Icegale Xtra 120 is a little superior to the Noctua iPPC 120 according to your tests in 100%, non-noise normalised tests but the Noctua is clearly superior in their 140 versions according to your tests. That means, relatively speaking, that either the Icegale 140 is not as good as it's 120 version or the Noctua 140 is better than it's 120 version, or a bit of both. So, in 120 versions of all out performance (no more than 30 mm and no more than 3000-ish RPM), the T30, Super Flower Megacool, and Icegale Xtra are king while the iPPC remains king at 140 unless the Megacool has something to say about that. I hope you test the Megacool 140 soon.
The MegaCool 140 is sitting in my house right now. I just didnt get to it before heat hot summer hits. AC units are loud. I hope to get to in soonish
Hello, I read somewhere that these fans cant really go below 900rpm stable, is that true? And are they quiet at that speed? When im just browsing or smthng like that I want dont want to hear my pc all the time, thanks
these do have a higher minimum RPM around 900-1000. I found them to be very quiet at those speeds though. only noisy past 1400. IMO
@@computer-tech-more tyvm for answering, I have one more question though, im getting 3x p12 max for my radiator and want to get 4 p14 max for the rest of my case but does it even help to get the max version for just case fans? in terms of noise and / or temps I mean
@@anass8525 so the P14max would be overkill for case fans but if you run them at 1000 rpm would be very quiet.
Montek 🙂
dude you should work for GamersNexus, you guys should be doing a joint venture :)
Hi, i have a Lian li 011 XL with a 4090fe (vertical) and 30c ambient temps, what fans to you suggest as case fans using filters (so i think they will need to have good static preassure), i will buy 7 or them.
In the video at the end. best overall is P14max, TL-B12 exreme, toughfan 14pro, Unifan P28 basically any of the top 10.
Amazing combination of technical explanation and practical measurement! Congrats! That's what we nerds want to see!
thank you. Ive got newer videos. lots of improvement in video making. :)
Kind of sad to see a classic do so poorly, but on the other hand it does mean fans and value have gotten really good
ya. I remember I had some old fans in like the mid 2000's they were great for the time. But thinking back they were loud compared to what I use now. At similar RPM's.
Well done. 👏 I am now considering upgrading from my 6700k to 11th gen.
It does run hot and lots of power. It would be good for a budget but I am leaning to build a new system in the next 6 month. AMD is looking good. Skip intel 13th and 14th.
Same logic here I already have Steelseries GG. I am also planning on getting this but the connection is outdated still using micro-USB. When Type-C is already the norm Steelseries still using micro-USB.
Ya I ended up not keeping it.
So which one is the best 140mm fan. I want it to be quiet and push a lot of air as a case fan, I’ll install them in the front of my case
my current top pick is the P14Max
@@computer-tech-more do you think it’s better than TOUGHFAN 14 Pro ( they cost more) it’s like $30. So I’m trying to choose the best one. I want it to be quiet
@@computer-tech-more what do you think about TOUGHFAN 14 Pro compare to P14Max ? And is Phantek 30T the best 120 mm ?
@@musclecargarage2875 So I dont think the T30 is the best 120 any more. For the ultra high end i think its the Superflower megacool 120. From what i have tested As for P14max vs Toughfan14 pro. Its are you cooling a Rad or cooler vs cooling the case. The Toughfan is a slightly better case fan while the P14max is a better cooler fan, especially due to its higher RPM.
I have 6 fans that have dual bb and love them…no ball bearing issues whatsoever…very quiet
i think its a consistency thing for arctic. I may have just gotten a lemon.
I think I notice this a lot between the videos, especially since they're not released in the order that you've performed the tests. The Noctua A12x25 performance, being non-representative of the most recent results, is quite underrated when compared using its older measurements to other fans.
I think ive said it before. some where along the way I had to re-test fans and updated results. I basically re-reran fans that appeared lower than I thought. SO I had to back track when the change happened. It error was only in the cooler testing. So the round up is the newest best data.
Do a test with a spacer between the filter and the fan.
I have 4 full sets of videos on my channel doing just this.
I have a question: if I remember correctly, the Lian Li AL140 V2 have lower thickness compared to the AL120 V2, so why there is so much difference in performance between the two? Especially on cooler, the 120 would perform way better in theory, right?
its basically volume of air. the 140 just moves more air. If you have a very high fin density Rad/cooler the 120 should do better.
Brother can you please tell me if A Seagate firecuda 530 2 tb SSD comes with a heatsink can fit into the laptop or have to remove the heatsink from the SSD to install in the laptop? Because the laptop is thin.
I think the heatsink would have to come off
I’m having trouble connecting to my home wifi for 3 years lol I need help I do everything that everyone say to do and nothing
I wonder that if P12 Max replace TL-K12 for cooling the PS120 EVO, will the temperature decrease or I can reduce the noise ?
So in theory yes but with dual tower coolers you can run into a problem with the middle fan. coolers like that are often tuned to the fans used in them. So swapping the middle fan can result in more noise. I dont have the data for that. I would not replace just the front fan because then you have a much higher speed fan pushing air into a lower speed fan.
do you have a software that manually control the fans?
both. For Testing I manually control the fans but for daily use i use FanControl. Its a piece of software off github. I think I made a video about it a year or so ago. Found it from JayZ2Cents.
Alesis Elevate 3 MKII,not like this
Hi Computer Tech & More. Is the TL-S12 the same as the TL-S12-S? I see the specs are identical but want to get right right fan. Thank you.
I didnt test the -S variant. but based on photos I could find the blade geometry looks very similar so it "should" have similar characteristics.
Looks like a great fan!
It is one of the best 120mm fans I have tested. all round.
Awesome video! Very helpful when considering the best cooling system for my new laptop. thanks dude :)
im gettting a dell XPS 16, its for college and will run games just fine! here are the specs: (lmk what u think?) intel ultra 9 16 cores 32G ram RTX 4070 1TB storage 60W
@@bleh6766 That should be a good mix of gaming and school laptop. Ive always prefered the 14" size for school, but had friend way back that hauled the 15" and 17" to class. they were heavier then. I think LTT (Alex? forget the reviewer) likes that one. I would personally just do a stand and skip the cooling pad, but there is nothing wrong with getting a pad.
Does it last?
I only had it for a review to see if I liked it and give thoughts before I returned it. So I cant say for certain. Given Ive had free keyboards last years it should last long enough to justify its price.
Excuse me, which fan is good for case D41 Mesh, TL-S12, Phanteks M25 Rgb, TL-C12B-V2, TL-C12C-S ? Or all fan is enough for that case ? Thank you.
so it all depends on what you want or need. If your looking for RGB i have a best of RGB fans on my channel. posted last weekend. If you dont want or RGB or on a budget I have 2 other best of's posted last weekend as well. But like any fan would work but if you want quiet or max performance whats recommended changes.
@@computer-tech-moreThank you so much, so I will choose TL-S12 and if I have more budget, I will take Phanteks M25.

The light wings are the only good performing fans with a led ring light with a 140mm version, so they have basically no competition in that section. From other tests it seems that the 140mm version ( not the high speed one ) is way better than the 120mm, but they are old tests without the comparisons with the recent fans. I'm looking for a fan with this type of ARGB and the best one seems to be the Seasonic Magflow ARGB, but there is no 140mm, so I'm sad
I have a best of round up on my channel. posted last weekend. I have a best of RGB that I tested video. I also have a best of inexpensive and best of all tested fans.
@@computer-tech-more I watched it, but the light wings version is the high speed one, which in theory is for radiators. Still, there are no good fans with similar rgb style with a 140mm version besides the light wings. If Thermalright or Seasonic make a 140mm version of their fans, then I would choose them since in their 120mm version are already better than the light wings
A little advice: since there are a lot of data in reviews like this, I suggest you to use chapters. A lot of people skip very good videos just because there are no chapters
I have time stamps. I have no idea why youtube doesn't put it into chapters like its supposed to.
@@computer-tech-more I never tried to put them in a video, but it seems that there is a missing step or something. In your videos descriptions I see them as "key moments" and not as chapters. Edit: from what I have seen, it can be a youtube problem or it is because you didn't put a timestamp at 00:00
@@computer-tech-more Ok, now they are visible. I suppose that the problem was the missing 00:00 timestamp
@@Tichoz666 I think you are right. haha. I tried that. Ill have to up date my videos to get this fixed.
In case no one has stated this, the round thing on the back is almost certainly the cmos battery

I have a P12Max review or a few round up of best fans recently published you should watch.
Excuse me, will the stock fans of PS120 SE Argb (TL-C12B-S V2) work well if I put them under my GPU for intake ?. And your video is very great. 🎉
the TL-B12 is a good performer but not a top performer. Its inline with the toughfan12 in my charts. thank you. :)
@@computer-tech-more Thank you very much! Keep it up!
Happy to see channels like this. There are a lot of good fans in the market, but sometimes is really difficult to find good reviews, especially for 140mm fans. I'm looking for a 140mm fan to use on the back of my case, but I don't know what to choose. From other tests, it seems that the best choices would be the P14 Max or the RS140 Max ( without considering the budget for the last one ). After seeing your reviews, now I'm curious about the Thermalright TL-B140 Extrem
I have a review set to come out for the regular TL-B14. I would say teh P14max is the best 140 ive tested so far. even considering the regular B14. Ill need to test the TL-B14 extrem.
@@computer-tech-more Nice. For 120mm fans, there is a fan from Bykski Granzon ( GI120 )that seems very good, but there are no reviews on UA-cam. Bykski is a known and good brand in the watercooling sector, so it's strange that there are no reviews
Is there any way I can turn off the rgb in the S12? Can I cut one of the wires or something? Want one to blow up air on my GPU and one as exhaust, but don't want the RGB.. Thank you!
I think in software you can turn it off or (i forget) if you just dont connect the RGB cable and then the RGB wont be on.
What switches do you have on the azoth? They dont sound like the NX Snow so it isn't an apples to apples comparison. My Azoth doesn't sound like that at all with the NX Snow switches.
the azoth uses ROG's tactile switches. I forget its name. I like them a lot. the Scopes were also good for linear in my opinion.
Cami plug this in a Regular motherboard 4 pin fan header since it’s 24v?
Yes for the fans in this review. they are all regular motherboard compatible.
Bought two arctic p14 max fan for my lian li lancool 205m case. Installed these instead of 2x front intake stock lian li 140 mm fans and there was temperature drop 4 celcius on cpu, 5 celcius on GPU in 29 celcius ambient temperature. I'm too small to get affiliate links. I tried. . . :/ www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CDBNZ5C2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm thinking of buying a barebones version of this, I've not seen many 96% vids for it, so cool!
thank you so much for taking the time to make such an in-depth video, it was very informative, found all the answers i was looking for :D keep it up!
:) Thank you for watching glad it was helpful.
I wanted to buy these to cool my Deye 12kw Hybrid inverter. Now i'm not to sure. Would these work?
yes they would. the main thing is to understand some of the limitations like the higher minimum RPM and bit higher noise level then the A12
I’m making an EDF conversion of a 2Ch F-35 RC plane with Tiny Whoop drone motors. I don’t care about noise. *jet noises* 😂
haha thats awesome.
Great video thank you for your effort
thank you for watching. :)
I used to buy the Noctua Redux fans for my projects but recently bought a couple of P12 for a small filter project. The build quality is a big step down from the Noctuas. The performance is impressive but the fact that they feel a lot cheaper makes me question if I will continue using them. The cable itself is very stiff and cheap compared to the Noctuas.
yep. thats where its hard to test. I would love to be able to add longevity testing in the future. to really see how long different brands fans last. Cables would be harder to test.
