    I could watch them swim around all day long :) My aquaponics system is housed in my greenhouse, so I don't get to see my fish too often - something I miss. Do you sell your fish to shops Mick? It’s going well and I don’t need to turn the air up high. The eggs are tiny and naturally fall through the grate so it doesn’t take that much air to lift them up the tubes

    • @DIYMick
      @DIYMick Рік тому

      Sounds like you need more flow coming out of the hatchery and back into the spawning area. Whenever the fry swim near the hole, the flow pushes them right back. How big is hole? Mine is only about 2cm or less. Maybe the hole is too big so you don’t get as much flow also? If you look at the water levels between the 2 sections it’s good if you can see the hatchery has a slightly lower water level.

      Temp is around 22 degrees+. It’s an outdoor tank (with a heater), so in summer it can get quite high some days (28). Eggs go into a separate container with a bit of meth blue for about a week, then into a breeder box to hatch (fine net)

    • @DIYMick
      @DIYMick 2 роки тому

      i just let them grow a little (until they are big enough to eat the new fry or eggs) then net them and put them in another breeder box. Or you can use a turkey baster to collect the eggs and relocate them before they hatch. This video is an old one though and we don't breed this way anymore. Check out my other video on my channel on "Easy CPD Breeding / Egg Trap Game Changer" for my latest way to breed them. A lot less effort and better hatch rate

    • @DIYMick

      I start feeding them a mix of golden pearl and hikari first bites. I also use live bbs and micro worms. I haven’t tried them on repashy gels though.
