Double figure PB from SHORE?!! | Pollock lure fishing | Wild camping Scottish highlands
Back up fishing from the shore in the highlands of Scotland. In search of big fish. The day started off slow but all seemed to build up to the double figure moment. Felt good about the cast, so turned on the go pro and got the whole moment from start to finish on film. The fish put in a scrap and a half, perfect way to try out the new Westen w3. Definitely the new PB. Hope yous enjoy.

My BIGGEST fish yet - Disaster struck! | Pollock Lure Fishing | Wild camping Scottish Highlands

Well….. was eventful to say the least. Some of my biggest fish ever caught but a major equipment mishap which was completely my fault. Fished into the night with a few fish but nothing major. The next morning we woke up super early and went out hoping for the PB. Was slow at first and was starting to get worried but after the first beautiful slab of gold it just got better and better and BETTER...
Secret location?? MONSTER POLLOCK EVERY CAST | Isle of Skye 2024

Up in the best fishing grounds in Scotland, Isle of Skye. Exploring some new marks we have never fished before. Was looking on navionics and found this absolute mission of a spot. Well worth the trek with fish over 3lb every cast once we found the honey hole. Started off slow but wait til the end of the video to see the fish we pulled in.

This is a different type of video, hope you guys like it. I have used my cheffing skills to make a fantastic recipe using a pollock I recently caught so it didn’t go to waste. This is easy and delicious, I hope you all give it a try and enjoy it as much as I did.

Beautiful day out on the golden loch today. The conditions did not favour fly fishing today however caught some fish and got a tan so cannot complain. Hope yous enjoy.

Out on a boat today, not my usual style of fishing. Was definitely a learning experience but managed to get a few decent fish to the boat. Cheers to the lads that helped record, wee tribute at the end. (They’re not dead).

Happening guys, We are near Oban today, very tough fishing but it was made worthwhile with a couple generals being caught. It was a PB for me and my bro🎉. I don’t really get many words out when I bring it to the surface but safe to say I was buzzing, will defo be back. Hope you guys enjoy 🤙🏻
Fishing for salmon and trout on Loch Tay
Переглядів 7335 місяців тому
It would have been rude to stay at Loch Tay Highland Lodges and not go fishing. Even though the wind made the loch a little choppier than I had planned for, I was still able to catch some fish, so I can't really complain. Hope yous enjoy the video.🤙🏻
Scottish wild brown trout fishing in the highlands

Normally got a spinning rod in hand or fly fishing on a stocked loch so this was a wee change. The first ever brown trout caught was a tiddler but they got bigger (sort of) not quite the same fight as a pollock but the grapht was worth it. Let me know if yous enjoyed the video. More to come🤘🏻
Very poor fish handling skills 👎
What makes u say this what could I do to improve????
@PringlesRodandReel Sorry if my comment comes across as too critical, but i've been fishing for 50 years and i'm just trying to pass on some conservation-minded knowledge. This is happening on so many UA-cam angling channels.. an obsession with bringing every fish up the rocks just to take a photo of it. It's totally unnecessary and causes extra stress and damage to the fish. Wherever possible unhook them at the waters edge ( with wet hands ) Here's some tips; Never hold a fish up vertically. Never stick your fingers in It's gills. And a golden rule to follow is to never keep a fish out of water for longer than you could hold your breath under water. 🎣👍
Great video mate, where is this?
Wowza that was beautiful fish and you handled it brilliantly...keep them coming mate

Fished that mark on Sunday for a few hours. Half a dozen 2-3lbers, two 5lbers, and a 7lber, with one bigger fish stripping loads of line and snapping my leader. Two other guys there who blanked.
Aww brilliant man, r u local there? I was fishing Sunday was tough day like didn’t get much, had a juvenile haddock on a lure which I was very surprised about and one cod.
What sort of lures were u getting them on. Me and my brother always have wee competition when we go and it tottaly depends on the lures we r using usually the person with the smaller lures gets into the fish and the person on the spinners is catching none. But dunno if thats just coincidence or
@@PringlesRodandReel Nah. I'm in Central Scotland, though I lived on Mull for ten years. I was passing on my way home from another mark, so remembering your vids, took a detour for old times sake. I fished there long ago, and it hasn't changed much, apart from an infestation of kayakers. I used cheap Temu jigs, SG Seeker, and Drift Sandeel, fished on the flood, from the point to the west of the pylon. It's not so much, about which lures, as how you fish them. Pollack are always, close to structure and kelp. Wind a lure right by their nose and they can't resist, but be prepared to lose a lot of lures. I lost 5 lures in three hours, on Sunday, which isn't unusual, - hence, cheap Temu jigs. Met that dog. He likes apple pie!
@@thorfinnravenfeederaw man costs me a fortune go thru so much tackle there it’s not even funny. Don’t think it can be good for environment either. Love the place haven’t found a mark like it. been looking loads. Dogs great will not leave our side when go 🤣
@@PringlesRodandReel Glengorm, Caliach Point, and Duart Castle, all on Mull, are similar quality marks with the same 5-7lb Pollack. What surprises me about the mark in the vid is that, I've never caught a mackerel there, despite fishing it with lures many times over the years. I was on Mull last week and the Mackies were so thick at Duart, I couldn't get through them to the Pollack. They were taking a 50g Drift Sandeel! Big pod of Dolphins very close to shore at Glengorm when I was there. Thought I'd hooked one, but it was a 7lb Pollack with a turbo. Funny how, some Pollack take off like an express train when hooked, and others fight closer to shore.
Fantastic size PB absolutely stunning!! Well in lads 🤘🏻🎣
Cheers mate was unreal
Nice wee video 👍🏻 well done on the pb 💪🏻🎣

Superb mate, very well done 👏

Belter of a fish mate 🙌
Was an absolute beast
I like the pooch…thought he was a fox for the first couple of minutes 😂 he should be in more of your videos. Good fish btw You always seem to get the sunshine 🌞 happy days!
Aye I know somehow we always get the weather was saying no Noah it’s going to be a disappointment when we get the bad weather. Cannot complain tho absolutely spoiled
And get yourself some fish grips to avoid those teeth
@jamescraker6115 Fish grips are an abomination and should be banned. They have no place in a modern conservation-minded anglers armoury.
Mate i fish for pollack fairly regularly up near and around skye, top tip get the westin sandy andy in white. 22g and the lighter one. Thank me later😊
Ooooo, I have got multiple sandy Andy’s and I haven’t actually taken them out box yet will give them a try next time I’m out defo
Try Mull for Pollock Lighthouse a short walk from Tobermory on a ebb tide Ditch the trebles try circle or inline hooks
Will give this a look. Cheers mate love mull.
Tide is very strong at the lighthouse, so need to pick your day, and your time, carefully. Two ounce jig doesn't reach the bottom if, the tide is running hard. Better at Caliach point, Glengorm, or the back of Duart Castle.
Trying to plan a mull trip for next month so will defo look into these spots, appreciate the comments good to hear other opinions
Nice Pollack. Btw, Otters can fight like fuck, and that dog would have got a nasty surprise.
Cheers. Hahaha yeah could imagine, didn’t know the dogs name he just came along for the fishing then disapeared🤣
Well done mate, that’s a cracker.
wash ure reels end of each trip as salt will seize up bro i rinse every trip under tap and reel them fast get them all fresh ure reels will last years
Aye I normally do rinse them after every big trip worked class on my shimano nexave but my daiwa mag sealed is playing up no sure why
Or get one of the pump to pressurise garden spray bottles fill it with water put in in your car boot then you can spray down your kit on site
@@jamescraker6115 great shout, will get that sorted
@@PringlesRodandReel where did u get it bro there the best reels around look at youtube vid of inside them its mad
Nice fish!
Cheers Ben, hope your well!

😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice video mate, cuckoo wrasse are such a cool fish. You’re right, they don’t look like they belong in Scotland at all and should be swimming about a tropical reef somewhere. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed, such pretty fish fight hard for there size too
Rinse your reel in hot soapy water after use, that will keep your reel smooth
Thank u mate, Always give my reels a light spray down after a heavy day sea fishing. However not normally soapy
Pollack is best after it has been frozen believe me it has more taste and is very similar to cod...batter it though...eaten tons of it, i lived on Skye andcaught plenty
Normally just leave it in fridge for a day, I’ll have to try freeze it first next time
"Five hour drive", 🤣🤣🤣 You go via Glasgow, then? if, you want to keep your marks secret, you need to film and edit so that, viewers do not, get a view of the surroundings. Learning can be a painful process, but take heart, as you can't, learn from mistakes unless, you make them first. There's no substitute for experience, and you're in the process of accumulating it, so a few mishaps along the way are inevitable. Keep making the vids! Great for encouraging others.
@@thorfinnravenfeeder appreciate the comment. The spot is a mission from where we live but would do double that drive to find good fish 😂. Hard thing to come by but we always fish responsibly and always catch and release when we can.
@@PringlesRodandReel I know that mark well. Some good fish to be had there, once you figure out how to fish it right. My mate caught a big Tope there, many years ago, and I once, hooked something there that stripped my reel and snapped a 50b leader. Try Caliach point on Mull, on a falling tide. Strong current similar to that mark so, you need big metals cast uptide and allowed to sink to the bottom before retrieving slowly. Big Pollack there. The cliffs at the back of Duart castle are good for Pollack, as are the rocks in front of Glengorm Castle. You can camp on the coast at Glengorm, and leave your car in the car park at the castle. Would make a good vid.
Awww that’s amazing, bet you were wondering what it was that stripped your line. I fished duart castle years ago when I was probably about 12 just with feathers but had no where near the knowledge I have now. Will maybe try get a weekend off soon and head up to mull then. Thank you for the information, really appreciate it. 👍🏻 tried to go for spurdogs and tops in Skye but I was terrible don’t think my casting with the big rods is good enough. Defo want to get into that type of fishing. Just can’t beat lure fishing 🤣
@@PringlesRodandReel For Spurdogs, try Loch Sunart. There's a few deep marks on the north shore. Check it out on Google Maps and depth charts. They are entertaining whilst, you wait for Skate to bite, and they are often, double figures. If you're fishing for Skate, the first hour of the ebb is the prime time. I lived on Mull for ten years and worked for a lure company, "Bridun Lures" owned by the same people that own the tackle shop in Tobermory. As I field tested the lures, obviously I lure fished a lot on Mull, and still do, though I'm in Central Scotland now. Long drive to get to those Pollack, but as you say, well worth it! Big metals score best for Pollack, fished just above the bottom. Cast out then, do a count until, the lure hits bottom. Subtract two from that count on the next cast, and retrieve. You can adjust the count to avoid weeds and snags, but the closer the lure is to structure and cover, the better. I find, large, heavy spoons are best, fished slowly. Smaller lures tend to catch too many Mackerel and wee Coalies, but huge Pike and Salmon spoons work great if, they are heavy enough. Of course, jiigs can be fished bouncing along the bottom, but you'll lose a lot, so get them from Temu for under £1.50, and you won't care too much. I use cheap Temu jigs and lures to search the water for snags and features, changing to better lures once, I understand what's in front of me. Best of luck, wherever you go, and hope your wee channel grows.
