used a jiggler key- but you can use any lock pick or gm key that fits in it, the secret is holding down the side bar

you can tell him the poin numbers, but we call these "depths" or the bitting. A locksmith would understand those terms better.

Also you could tell them, you need a code cut key to what ever the pin number (bottom pins) are. The pins in the video are called the bottom pin numbers. Also if you look at your key, you may see numbers on it. Those numbers are either a code or bitting so you can cut your own or give to a locksmith

i have done a few, and for some reason the cylinders sometimes have different configurations and wafer styles

Did you turn ignition first? You have to turn ignition or pick it first then use poker tool inside retainer hole while it’s turned

@@pouncerminned863 thank you, yes I did figure it out and it came out... My ranger was stolen and they forced the ignition with channel locks.. it can be started without a key now... I'm thinking a new ignition cylinder and key should fix it up 😊

They are different style of locks but if you dissemble the lock, it works same way

@@thewhittierlocksmith121 thanks I tried for a while. Do some key pattens just not rake ? Also does it get harder with age, if the lock pins are worn down and slip too freely ?

@@feelvivek yea for sure, use lube like houdini or tri flow- some of these locks are older than i am and there's tons of old grease, gunk and dirt. Ignition may even be bad if it doesn't work. Just try a few different rakes, picks and or jiggler keys
