    I installed opt7 running board lights and tapped into the blue wire of the footwell light and ground to bare metal and the lights stay on but will not turn off. Do I need to tap into the tan/ brown wire for the lights to turn off?

    • @lijianli
      @lijianli 2 роки тому

      @@AndersonOverland I'm sure it's the blue one but I've seen in forums that some have taken the ground wire and attached it to the brown/ tan wire and it still doesn't make the light go off so I'm a bit stumped. I installed an inline fuse so I just took the fuse out for now until I find a solution.

      @@AndersonOverland Mind you that the VLED footwell lights I installed both have a positive and ground that plugs into the socket. What I did with this led strip is only tap into the positive side of that and the ground I grounded to to bare metal, but then I was searching through some videos and a guy said that the footwell light positive side is a constant hot and in order to have it work and fade in and out you must have both ground and positive connected to it so I ordered some T-tap connectors so I can try it out. My VLED footwell lights work fine and fade in and out so this has got to be the solution.

    It's a nice install but I'm surprised that you'd want all that hardware on your dash given that the display is in the mic. The whole advantage to that model, it seems to me, is so that you can hide it away since there's nothing going on with it that needs to be seen. Figure the tablet holder is hiding most of it but it looks like it would also limit your vision out the windshield. I'm sure you considered all of that, however, so good on you for adding some coms to your vehicle.

Run an additional ground wire spliced into the splice you did for the floor light ground, and run it to the chassis somewhere (easy to find). The key is, you need to run this additional ground through a circuit breaker. Keep the circuit on, lights on demand. Break the circuit, lights will only come on with the courtesy/door ajar etc.

      @@AndersonOverland I easily got my license by going to fcc.gov < First you must apply for a FRN (Federal Registration Number). You MUST give the FCC your Social Security Number as part of this process. After you apply for and receive your FRN you will also be assigned a password which will either be mailed or emailed to you separately for security purposes. After you have this you can get on the FCC WEBSITE and scroll down to ULS (Universal Licensing System). Click on that and look for APPLY FOR NEW LICENSE (or something similar). The radio service code for GMRS is ZA. Click on that, answer the questions and begin the application process. At the end you can pay with a credit card and SUBMIT. Within a few days the FCC will issue you your new license and send you a temporary 30 day link so that you can print out a hard copy for your records. Oh yeah, the license is only $7 per year for a ten year license, that's $70 total. Currently the FCC is discussing lowering the cost to only $50 for ten years. If you don't get your license and you ever do get caught it's a $10,000 fine and forfeiture of your equipment. Furthermore, if you think you might be interested in operating through a repeater someday you WILL need a valid callsign. Otherwise, you will be shunned by the legitimate users. Whenever I talk to someone, the first thing that I do is to ask for a callsign. Anyone can search the FCC license database to check for validity. Please, get your license and encourage your friends to do the same because GMRS is different from CB radio. I hope this is helpful. 👍

    Great video . But I need help . I did everything pretty much the same , and my rock lights turned on, and worked great . But , they wouldn’t turn off. Tried for a couple of hours , double checked everything . The only difference, is I’m not directly connecting to the lights . The courtesy light circuit is powering the Bluetooth receiver and out the Bluetooth box are the connection for the rock lights . Here is what I bought . Fkakapain Well bummer man! That sucks! I’m thinking that its that bluetooth module. Did you try to hookup a multi-tester to the circuit to insure the voltage drops out and fades in? Try that first. If you get 12v fading in on courtesy circuit activation and 12v fade to 0 upon the timer timing out after the courtesy circuit is off, then you’ll know if its the bluetooth module. If it is, just wire up your rock lights direct to the courtesy circuit and you should be all good!

      Anderson Overland - I don’t know much about dc power and especially how it works on cars . But the Bluetooth module and lights works perfectly if I connect it straight to the battery. I even Tried reconnecting the lil light to the circuit with the module attached. I pig tailed the light back into the circuit . Still wouldn’t turn off . I thought maybe the lights didn’t turn off because the circuit was tampered with. Still didn’t work . So I gave up and cut the positive wire going to the Module . .leaving the small light attached, dome Lights still wouldn’t turn off . Not until I remove the positive and common From the module leaving the dome light connected . Everything went back to normal . Tomorrow I’m going to try to attached the common to the frame and instead of the common on the lil light . And only connect the positive to the courtesy/dome light positives circuit . I’ll let you know if I have any luck .
