A possessed cat on a spooky Graveyard - Pull tab pop-up card
A possessed cat on a spooky graveyard. So much fun to make these pull tab interactions! It’s all rough and concept but that means it can only get better.

Sleeping Beauty Castle Pop-up spread
Переглядів 2 тис.3 місяці тому
Sleeping Beauty castle spread - It was interesting, challenging but mostly a lot of fun to make this. Also lots of fun to make booklets with basic solutions. One represents the roses blooming and one with a sleeping guard. I hope one day I can work on a complex book like this. #crafting #creativity #crafts #papercraft #paperengineering #popupbook
Robin Hood Meme Pop-up card
Переглядів 1,1 тис.5 місяців тому
I’ve finally finished my new meme card. This is one of my favorite memes and it was on my list for a while. Based on the Rhys Darby - Robin Hood - Fight For Fair 2 degrees advertisement. I had to improvise on the foreground because I needed to hide the mechanism below. So I tried my best to find a branch and I think this will work. I’ve been using an asymmetrical v-fold raiser and half a floati...

Kevin Red Star Horses pop-up spread for the Crow pop-up book - A @popositionpress publication. A nice composition of horses. This is a concept printed with 50% opacity. It still has the glue point references on it and the final version will be a bit bigger too. #paperengineering #popupbook #papercraft #creativity #crafting #crafts #horse #horses

A Pringles Pop-up card - I was invited to design two pop-ups for a Pringles paper art exhibition. To introduce a new Pringles can. This new can now has a paper bottom that is recyclable. To celebrate this, a temporary pop-up exhibition is openend in Amsterdam. Make sure to check it out if you’re around in the next two weeks! The address is Prinsengracht 234, Amsterdam. For this occasion I’ve ma...
Modular pop-up train concept: Locomotive update (V2)
Переглядів 2 тис.8 місяців тому
Modular pop-up train concept update: I've been working on the locomotive and have a rough version 2 ready. Now I need to work on an improved version of the DIE lines, add extra details and fill some gaps. I also want to add three other types of wagons (a flat car, a tank car, and an open wagon) and fine-tune everything one more time. Starts to look like something and I think I'm halfway now. ho...
Modular Pop-up train cards concept: Wagons set 1
Переглядів 1,7 тис.9 місяців тому
This is a modular pop-up train concept. I’m working on the wagons as a base before I start with the locomotive. The cards can be joined by hooking up the rail track. Maybe magnets will be used to make it snappy. You can basically make this train as long as you like and store it in an envelope. I want to make four wagon variations and if I find the time, turn this into a full color Christmas tra...

Minecraft Outtakes: Pop-ups and movables Working on the Minecraft pop-up book was so much fun! And while working on this, I also started playing the game. And there was a LOT to get inspiration from! This is a selection of random idea's, concepts, expeirments and some side-projects I've worked on. Some not for the book, but just for fun! If you enjoyed this video, leave a comment and a like. My next (official) pop-up publication for the Iron Maiden Piece of Mind 40th Anniversary Deluxe Oversized Edition graphic novel . See my previous upload for the end result and final product. This is a time lapse of the very first concept I made for this pop-up. I start with a bunch of prints that I can use to cut out pieces. WHen I'm happy with the design, I continue tracing the parts on my com...

My next (official) pop-up publication for the Iron Maiden Piece of Mind 40th Anniversary Deluxe Oversized Edition graphic novel No need to say that I'm super proud that z2 Comics asked me to make a pop-up for this very special Iron Maiden publication! Super stoked to finally share this! My first pop-up book publication 😊 It was so much fun to work on this with Matthew Reinhart and I’ve alsolearned a lot of new things. Can’t wait until it comes out! Things went really fast since I’ve made my first pop-up almost five years ago. Since than, I always wanted to have my name on a book cover. At that time it sounded impossible and now here it is. T...
Treasure Map game board concept (1:4 scale)
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
Rough concept: This is an idea I have that I would like to turn into a real board game. The final size is going to be four times larger (32 x 11 inch) and there will be room for some more details too. The bulk will be less compared to the cover because I’ll scale up the size but not the paper weight. The fold out tabs are hooked with magnets so they stay flat and make the pop-up playable as a b...

Abstract Pop-up owl 👀 (Final version)
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
Abstract Pop-up Owl - I shared an abstract penguin yesterday (that came out of a curve study) and some people commented that it looked more like an owl. I agree that it would be a possibility, but the head needs to have a different shape. So I’ve made this in color and I think it now works as an owl. I like the aesthetics of this kind of pop-up. I’m not sure if there’s a name for this “see trou...

I discovered this video on Sunday and ordered a hole punch from Amazon that evening. The hole punch lies at my desk BUT: there are no more Q-tips with a plastic stick in Europe, only with a cotton stick. What do you use now? Also plastic drinking straws are forbidden… If you have a new solution please let us know. Thanks a lot for your great videos.

Hi Gabriela, great point! I’m still using my first batch because I can make many rivets from that. I’m also keeping those exclusively for this purpose. For alternatives you can be creative. Empty pens, popsicle sticks, 3D printing filament, all of these are plastic tubes or sticks. So try to find an alternative like that.

My idea was a bit different for one of these. I wouldn't be making it out of cardboard because I want mine to be more substantial and feel more accurate to a real pinball table. I'm using a 32 inch older 1080p tv for display, and for the control layout, I'm going to use an 8BitDo fight stick arcade pad. Just make a couple wire extensions for the buttons on the stick and I'd have the same effect you do, minus the rumble and lights etc. That's stuff beyond my skill level to do, but I feel like the Switch is the perfect console for creating this machine. I already have the tv mounted on my wall currently and I swivel it to vertical on my vesa mount and play pinball that way all the time. I literally just need to build a box for the TV and wire up the controller and I'm all set. It's Probably the easiest way to create a type of Arcade machine for the home...

Hello Jean-Paul! This is amazing! Could you please help me? I'm making a pop-up album for my son based on his favorite movies. I want to make a monster from the movie "Alien" similar to your dragon - so that the mouth opens and a second jaw protrudes from it. But I have absolutely no idea how to do this, I’ve already racked my brain, but nothing works. I'm not an expert, but I'm fascinated by this kind of paper magic. Can you make a tutorial video on this dragon or something similar?
