A ride to Paxmal

And what is Paxmal you ask... well: "The Paxmal is a peace monument built by Karl Bickel between 1924 and 1949, in Walenstadtberg above Walenstadt, in front of the Churfirsten mountain range in Switzerland. The left wall depicts the earthly life: a human couple in its existence and development, love and procreation." Source: Wikipedia I apologize for the skew filming. I´m not used to film with ...

Would you say NX500 or CB500X is better for this setup due to windshield and fairings?
Hey nice bike! I just got an F650GS and I was wondering which windshield that was... doesn't look like mine. Looks nicer.
Hi there. It was already on the bike. But it's from a company called ztechnik, and modell is the vstream z2412. You can check it online.
How tall are you? Picking one up soon, but havent seen it yet... comfortable for you? thx!
Hi there. I'm 1'78 cm. It's pretty comfortable. But I can only compare it with the honda cb500f😉
I appreciate these sentiments. I have no interest in new motorcycles. I’m perfectly happy with my 2006 Suzuki 650 Vstrom.
Thanks for sharing, this ist why we ride , wonderful Landscape nice weather and allmost No Traffic,
Windscreen is ruining the viewing experience. I like your CB500 rides as it did not have the windscreen.
No you are wrong... Im sorry to tell you. This happened back in 2004 when bike was new. After gthe first software update, official bmw, this solved. So in total you need to go to a bmw dealer and do the updates. 2 in total I have done the first 2 years of ownership. After the 2 updates you ll riding a different machine...(solves many other issues like no power on mid revs e.tc)
cheers pal ,loved the film ,so all said and done do you love the bike? x
Hi there. I do like (a lot) this bike. How simple and easy going it is. I like how I can park the bike and not think to much about it... it was a 2000 CHF bike. But I do take care of it. Annual service and MFK (MOT) is done. Ready for a 2000 kms ride😉. I do not want the weight of love on my shoulders, if that makes any sense. Cheers
Love my 2003 Dakar GS. I just put a GPR exhaust on it sounds pretty mean lol.
hello pal im just eyeing up one of these at the minute ,previously a sport bike type but now im getting nice and old fancy a do it all plodder ,would you recommend it? any good improvements reliability wise? thanks for any advice x
@vincemarshall8550 It's a good reliable bike..decent power and torque, the bike is a little heavy around 420lbs.but you get used to it..I've had mine for about 2 years and have been on and off road..does well on both terrains, I wish it had about 20 more HP tho. But I still love the bike.. my last bike was a yamaha xt 350 amd this bike triumphs that old thing
This procedure is described in the owner's manual for G650gs.. When I start, hands off the throttle, count 1-2-3 holding down the starter button, then release. Idle should be 1500. If it is, you're good. Note the idle will be higher 1750 if you skip the 123...and then you know you did it wrong.
Hey, I’ve seen some of your videos and I really like them but I have this question… How have you installed the garmin base on your machine, I have the same bmw but not the Dakar model and it’s really hard to find how to wire it properly. I’m from Swiss too btw
Hi. It was already installed when I bought the bike. Actually I'm going to take it out. The bike came with base but not the actual device😂
Can confirm the hot restart issue with the F650GS model around year 2000. Not all have the issue (owned 2 the same f650gs). Only happens on hot restart. For me it helps to just let the bike sit for approx 5+ seconds after ignition on to let the bikes MMS intialize. Then restart. Restart fail gone. The other slightly different problem variant is when it happens to restart without the 5+ sec initialize wait. It won't run idle, just dies unless the gas is kept at around 1500+ rpm. The one f650gs that has this problem also had significant more torque 😮 compared to the other I owner at the same time. Never figured out whyv exactly. Without owning 2 F650s GS at the same time I would never have noticed the torque difference. Guessed the MMS firmware has a different fuel curve.
Thank you👍
nice
Watched out of curiosity, cause I own the same bike, but never had stall issues (owner from 2006 130k km in the clock). Right from the start I got used to hold on to the starter button for longer in order for the bike to start, cause otherwise it often failed to start, so maybe that is why I never had such an issue.
Now that’s biking. Measured pace, pure joy. I can almost smell the grass.
👍💙
Any suggestions for someone who wants to purchase a bike for daily driving and what to expect when is a rainy day? Like is it really annoying or is something one needs to get used to?
I'm not the best person to answer that question... that beeing said, rain is annoying. That's no way around that. The question is... do you need to... do you have to ride in the rain? (for exemple, I don't) if the answer is yes you have good solutions. Gear that help you to stay dry and warm, and a wide range of tyres that are pretty good in the rain. Good gear, good tyres and don't overthink. Like I just did😂😂
@tugainswitzerland thank you for taking the time to answer. Yeah, I asked about rain because I'm thinking of possibly getting a bike for daily riding :)
Hi l. Enjoyable video. Can't wait to get my f650gs back from repair to start riding. What screen setup is this you have? Is it succesful for wind deflection ?
Thank you. Is a universal windschield attachment from amazon. I'm 1.80 cm, it's perfect for me. And you can adjust. In the summer ia helpfull when it's to hot
Wow nice vlog bro keep going im your new subscribers
Thank you
not gonna lie i kinda miss the good ol cb500F. all the vids you did on it made me want one and i was going to get one, but then i got switched onto the ktm 390 adv. which ill hopefully pick up sometime soon. love the vids as always, keep em coming :D
Thank you. I like the "adv" at the end of the sentence😉. I loved the cb500f. But with this bike i think I found my "kind" of bike. Everything is more relaxed... so adv it is😁
Thank you. I love this ride. This is your best one. Narrow lanes and tight turns and that thumping engine a life experience to be remembered. Going to unfamiliar places, getting lost, great views and a great u-turn. Beautiful destination. Peace. Be well, ride safe.
Thank you
beautifull Swiss landscape, the monument looks like a smaller version of the Walhalla near Regensburg.
Hello! How many kilometers have on your bike? Did you have change the water pump or have any problems with the motorcycle? I have a bmw f650 gs 2007 single, twin spark for a year and 39k on board ( 7k rided by me) and 2 weeks ago the water pump broke and coolant mixed with oil. Nice videos!
hi there. Thanks I have mine for a year now. bought it with about 54K, it has about 64K something. until now only had a stall issue and replaced the battery (both not related). But service is due next month, let´s see what they say, I hope you can fix the bike. cheers
The same happens very often with G650x models. I tried to hold on to starter button as you say on my g650xCh but it doesn’t work. I just spend a little time after starting the engine to let it warm up with the help of turning the throttle sligthy after about 15 seconds from startup. Seems like the ECU is trying to switch to ‚normal’ running mode but has issues with it before reaching engine temps that are programmed.
Sorry it didn't work for you. Hope you have other options to solve the issue
Hi .I have a 2005 f650gs. I live a small town ,so I do a lot short and slow trips every day. I confuses the ecu . What I have learnt is the problem gets a lot worse if I assist / touch the throttle when starting the bike. It’s sets the zero in the wrong place and stalls in the first corner I go slow . So I always try to just no touch anything and let it start. Also turn everything off , turn the key on ,let it arm and then slowly twist the grip to full throttle ( take about 3”) then release and then start the bike . It often resets the ecu. ( hope this makes sense)
@@peterandromidas915 hi there. Not touching the throttle during ‘startup procedure’ is a given. The thing is, there are some more ‘gremlins’ lurking about with this design.. you either love it or love it less 😅 Happy travels 👊
Missed your content. Feels like riding with a buddy while enjoying the scenery and riding bikes
Good to see you back and riding through your beautiful country. Glad you found a place where you can get the accessories you need to ride safely. Looking forward to your new adventures. Take care and ride safe.
I jumped on the 650 bandwagon. I live in the Rockies of Colorado and I'm looking forward to taking it out (purchased on a weekend - no plates yet) and running it through the paces. Great vid, and such beautiful scenery!
Nice bike, nice country!
One question, is good for travel?
Well... i wanted to travel by bike, so I thought about buying an ADV bike. But... I was not sure about doing a short test ride with the dealers and buy an Expensive ADV + extras. So I saw this bike for sale online. It had all the extras I would buy... so I bought it just to try and feel it. Two short trips to italy and france about 4 days each and 600 kms each... just to have a feel. I bought this bike just to see how I would feel with an ADV bike... man i'm preparing a new road trip to portugal with the same bike. 4000 kms total. So yeah... I think it's good to travel. Upsides, It's cheap, It's old, you will not have too many eyes on it, easy maintenance, consumption. Downsides, one cylinder... some vibration on the handlebars and footpegs, 5 speeds gear box... above 120/130 kms/h not very pleasant. So yes I think it's good for travel but I do not have much experience to be fair. Cheers
4:40 The solution is to hold the start button for 3-5 seconds, even if the motor starts right away. There. I saved you almost 9 tedious minutes.

getting my f650gs this monthend. super stoked!
Nice. Enjoy🙂
Also got one, in yellow! Sometimes I would have about 2100rpm when I depress the clutch but still rolling; only after complete standstill it would drop to 1400. What helps indeed is letting the computer figure it all out at start-up: start your engine and don't touch your gas lever until all the lights have disappeared and the rpm has dropped to idling. For sure similar to holding the start button for 3-5 seconds!
1. lights must settle down before starting. 2. then hold 3 seconds after start. Idle 1500.
Great video. You rode it just right 👍
Top of the world 😇🤪
The road is quiet....nice ride motorcycle....different in my country...
How many miles/km has your bike now?
Between 57/58 000 kms
Well said! It absolutely makes sense.👍
Totally agree!
Thanks for the tire talk. Lots to choose from for street or off road or dual use. It all depends on where you ride. And yes budget. Thanks for the ride. Have a great new year. Be well ride safe.
Thank you. Happy new year

Thank you. Happy new year to you too🙂
Nice bike, I bought mine a few days ago! 2005 bmw f650 gs Dakar. Quick question: the stickers on the switches are all faded out, do you know if and where they sell the replacements? I found some online but only for the newer versions… thanks!
Hi. I have no clue. Mine are also faded. I tried e bay, facebook and even amazon. No luck. At least for the dakar. But you find for the normal f650gs... I don't know if they are exactly the same. But the prices... 🤔 expensive. Happy new year🙂
Thanks
Thanks for the video, I have one of these bikes, does on your just the rear ABS work if you try lock the rear wheel at slow speed, my front ABS works but at slow speed my rear does not
Hi. Both work at slow speed. Happy new year🙂
Thanks for putting the information out. Glad it worked for you. Enjoyed the ride. Have a great new year. Be well ride safe.

Thanx. That's interesting and i will try it on my G650GS Sertao. Happy holidays!
