    Hey! When you cut that elderberry head, do you pick off every berry to cook? Or just cook and strain it? I HATE picking off every tiny tiny berry..wondering if the stems can be left in while cooking and strained out

    • @LargeFamilyHomestead
      @LargeFamilyHomestead 13 годин тому

      Don’t cook the stem. We also pick off every berry, but have read it’s easier if you freeze the head first. ❤️

    When I prune my peach tree like this the branches that I don't cut all the way off but prune back by half their length die off. What am I doing wrong?

    • @LargeFamilyHomestead
      @LargeFamilyHomestead 23 години тому

      It may be due to the season you are pruning in. The best time to prune is when the pink buds appear in the spring. Also, make sure you are cutting right above a leaf node, so it can continue growing. ♥

    I think I might be able to get away with starting some beans up here in Michigan zone 4b/5a. I'm going to test this theory as last year, I did plant a second crop of beans in July and had great success; but as August rolls in I am curious as to whether I will be as successful. Also, I really like that metal raised garden bed and it looks easy enough to put together and the fact that it lasts 20 years. That is amazing.

    One thing that I had to do to my tomatoes was hand pollinate them. Everywhere I seen a cluster of flowers, I would rapidly tap the vine, shaking the flowers. Someone told me to use one of those vibrating toothbrushes but I didn't have one on hand for that. I now have multiple clusters of tomatoes forming after about a week of doing that. I just didn't have any bees around them. The bees were all over my cucumbers and watermelon but not the tomatoes. Good luck!
