If you haven’t seen John’s son Jason go if you get a chance. Living up to the Zep is basically impossible but Jason comes very close.

I've tried to tell people all my life what JPJ said about Bonham. He plays a quadruple shuffle with a funk feel. He just did it with more power. All of those rock drummers that followed just didn't get it! I got it.

I was there for both weekends. The New Barbarians were there on the 11th. I seem to remember them being late. Tanked up ! and it showed. The can throwing was a ritual at festivals around the time (especially Reading) You could take your own booze in as well. Trying to hump 4 flagons of cider across a massive field in Stevenage was an a chievement on its own. But I'd do it all again if i had the energy.

Think I’ll put the blue bowl and lamp together. Yes. Maybe the bowl a bit to the left. And the lamp a bit to the right. No, that’s too far. Maybe both together in the middle. No, not quite. Ohhhhh I don’t know. Think I’ll just leave them there.

I only remember John Lennon death, and didn’t understand why my four older siblings cried that we lost a legend. It was around 12 or 13 years old and my late older brother played me Live song remains the same no quarter that would’ve been 1982. I was blown away by 3 piece band.

I never understood how some English farmer / construction worker with a decidedly un-funky upbringing could be more funky than any black drummer in Detroit or Memphis or Chicago . But he was. Robert Plant tells a story about John sitting in with Bobby Blue Bland and the guys were all leaning in towards Bonham by the end of the gig because the feel was just undeniable. And then he could turn around and play something as powerful and driving like the Wanton Song and move a hard rock fan to tears

Back in 1980 I was 15 years old I worshipped Led Zeppelin I wanted to be Robert Plant .. I cried the day he died..it seemed like I was the only one who knew of his death, and how great he was..I went to see SRTS at the midnight movies…WHAT A CRAPPY LOSS!! The should have watched him after drinking all that alcohol..I would have …pumping is stomach…anything!!!
