- ATV Today reporter, Rob Golding, reports on the funeral service of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. Includes brief interview with fans outside the parish church in Cutnall Green, Nr Kidderminster, October 10th 1980.
I visit his grave regularly. Having gone through 9 years of hell, it brings peace to my soul sitting in the Church yard with John in my presence. RIP Bonzo !!!!
Do you imagine losing Bon Scott of AC/DC, then John Bonham and then John Lennon at the same year??? Big tragedy
and you can add Bob Marley a few months after Lennon...
The music in the 80's didn't start very well after all
+David Lee are you alright?
David Lee are you feeling ok?
I should ask you that, But I really don't care!
So sad...best drummer that ever lived if you ask me.
+OnTheRunSinceBirth and it's heartbreaking the day he died he said that he's fed up with drums because everyone plays better than him..
WELL NO-ONE ASKED YOU SO SHUT THE FUCK UP !!!!!!!!!
@@user-iq2oq8ol6z Oh my God seriously? How can he be standing in the studio while listening to the playback of full in the rain and really think that ? I love you John I knew truly was the best rock drummer ever
@jamesbermingham7259 us musicians are our worst critics.
RIP John Bonham; one of my first drum teachers.
Led Zeppelin also died on that day.
the best drummer ever
This upload is like a sanctuary for all rock musicians ... RIP Bonzo ...
It was a very sad year. The world lost 3 irreplaceable talents. They were legends, family men, who adored their children, wives and they loved performing for the world. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Thank you for all the happiness you gave us. We will miss you always. We will remember you forever. You will never be forgotten, therefore you will never be gone. R.I.P.
Don't forget Ian Curtis from Joy Division, who comitted suicide on the same year.
Ladies and Gentlemen! JOHN HENRY BONHAM!
I had the privilege of seeing John, and Bon Scott and Keith moon in 76-77. Never forget.
Wow. Seeing his coffin really hit home. So sad. Never forget Bonzo R.i.p x
Had just brought in threw the out door when the tragic news of John's passing was gutted still gutted BEST drummer of all time sadly missed
Man 1980 was a bad year for rock & roll when we lost Bonham & Lennon.
... and Bon Scott
What a loss. My favorite musician ever
Sad Day....Remember it well. Still one of the most influential drummers of all time. RIP. John.
this just gave me chills..R.I.P. John ..You were THE rock drummer for all time and your light will never be extinguished ..
such a loss for rock&roll..
The Shittiest day in rock history!
Agreed
WITHOUT JOHN BOHNAM , THERE IS NO LED ZEPPELIN !!!!!!!
So Loved!
A lesson to all that we have a responsibility to live life to the fullest and in a wise and nondestructive way. His death was bad enough, but the emotional devastation suffered by his family is a lot worst.
Amen, your words should be written across the sky man. peace and love.xx
I can go for a Bud Light 😉
Thanks so much for this. Was John laid to rest at a different parish church to the one above.
It’s on my bucket list to visit his grave one day.😢
Hands down the greatest drummer of all time.
1980 Bon Scott, John Bonham, John Lennon
Tens years earlier....
1970 Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison
John Henry Bonham
~Vaya Con Dios~
Very Tragic People Were Aghast!.. And I Still Am...
Oh, seeing this had make me sad. Fuck.
R.I.P. John Bonham, the best drummer of the history.
I only remember John Lennon death, and didn’t understand why my four older siblings cried that we lost a legend. It was around 12 or 13 years old and my late older brother played me Live song remains the same no quarter that would’ve been 1982. I was blown away by 3 piece band.
Merci pour la vidéo !
I'm so broken up, I decided to wear a t-shirt to the funeral
Wow....rare..thank you
UGH. Kills me every time I watch this video. Such potential lost on this day all those years ago. Terrible, terrible tragedy. R.I.P. Bonzo.
RIP Bonzo...
wonder where to no iommi was?. ige was bongos best friend outside the group. it was written Tony autobiography. He was iommi best man at his first wedding.
Probably he was with Sabbath playing Heaven And Hell with Dio for all the countrys and it token all his time to this.
R. I. P. John
Bonzo x sempre il numero 1❤️
Good times, bad times...
john henry bonhams death was way more devastating than john lennons and bon scotts musically creatively and mentally plus their was so much more he could.ve done
Can't they all be equally horrifying??? Lennon took 4 or 5 bullets to his back, on the streets of the city he'd come to love, New York. That's not devastating to you???
I had a ticket to the show in Buffalo, when died I got my money back, stupid move,I should have kept it
What does it mean - "...the family chose 'crimin music'..." What is crimin music ? I looked it up & couldn't find anything !!! Please help - anybody - thanks.
"Crimmond" - the traditional setting for "The Lord's My Shepherd" when sung as a hymn
Hilary Jones Thank you for sharing that !
If it was today the wreaths would be on eBay an hour later.
"I don't think they will, cos no one can replace Bonham"
John Dennison They were right. Zep made the right choice by breaking up when Bonzo passed.
John Dennison his son Jason can!
@@sherrieteller4779 No, he can't.
Does Jimmy Page still own the house where John died?
...fue el motor de LED ZEPPELIN...
He had it all before him in life and to go at only 32. No age at all.
The Hammer lives on..
Long live bonzo
Per the report, as his coffin is being loaded, it was off to a creamatorium next.
That stinks that happened and the tour had to be cancelled and they couldn't stop the tickets from coming In the mail. They had to be recalled and sent back idk if everybody got a refund or something else.
I was in 10th grade and saved enough for four tickets. When I heard the news of Bonhams death, I walked the neighborhood with my one speaker boom box and played Zeppelin until my D batteries withered away. Life would have been a little fuller with a Led Zeppelin concert. I did see an excellent Robert Plant show and a strung out Jimmy Page in The Firm. Fourth row. I don't know who was worse, Jimmy Page or Paul Rogers.
O melhor
So sad :(
Reporter looks like the lovechild of Noel Edmonds and Rowan Atkinson
Was bonzos ashes interred at the gravesite ?
+Mart Baker Bonham's remains were cremated and his ashes interred on 12 October 1980, at Rushock parish church, Worcestershire.
thankyou
You mean they didn't go In Through the The Outdoor?
No pleas no
The coffin was narrow and small, no effort carrying it by the men, must have been cremated.
My mistake they where at the crematorium not the church.
👀🚬
trajedy for eveyone.he was priveleged to play in the best band ever, and selfishly chose the bottle over his band.robbed all of us from who knowswhat else this band was capable of
What an incredibly selfish comment. Fuck you. Unfortunately you are still here and he is not.
GREATEST DRUMMER EVER LIVED ! So much missed by all your faithful fans 😢 we will NEVER forget you 😔❤🤟🙏
I PERSONALLY think Keith Moon was the greatest drummer of all time. But John Bonham was a f*****g legend 😊
@@Itsliz1984 To me it’s the other way around 😉 but they were both legendary such a pity we lost them too earlier 😔 cheers long live rock roll 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
@biacampbell676 my mother dated Keith Moon for years
@@Itsliz1984 so I’m sure you have heard some great stories about that Rocky days 😉🤘🤘
My mother left keth moon for Mt father
Went to his grave Sunday just gone
Bonzo's in a beautiful spot. You can see the Malvern Hills from his graveside..
R.I.P. John... 37 years ago today. You are truly missed...
Thank you for locating & uploading this. Was I supposed to be shaking & crying while watching this ? Yes, the answer is "yes."
He was a badass drummer - the best Rock and Roll drummer of all time - bar none !
Me too. When something resonates with you in life, no matter what or who, it's a part of you too. RIP JHB
He was (and still is) the best drummer of the whole world,we miss you Bonzo! Keep rocking wherever you are,not just you as Peter Grant too,he was the Fifth Zeppelin and a very determined man.
No honey, that would be the man who just died...
@Beau Cat at Classic rock. NP the best at progressive Rock. Best lyricst also....
Steven Perkins is good too.
Made me cry. Since 1969, I was only 3 years when my older brother introduced me to Rock and Roll music. I love Led Zeppelin until today. Thanks for sharing....
I was in high school skipping last class, hanging out on the school bus. There were 5 of us listening to music with the boom box. Local radio station playing kick ass music. Then it stopped. It just stopped!! DJ announced John Bonham dead! THE MUSIC NEVER PLAYED AGAIN! NEVER!!
Whoa and wow! Totally wicked dude! Like, totally!
Neil Ouellette I'd just started highschool in 9th. grade in September of 1980 and was also at school that very afternoon when we heard he'd died, we were like "the walking dead" for rest of the day... What a fucking shit day that was and I remb. having a bad feeling that was the end of Zepp...
Sounds familiar!
The kids the reporter stops seemed very sweet.
the coffin looks so plain and unassuming. But, inside laid a gigantic legend. RIP JB
ExclusiveLM , that's the basic coffin in UK, very Dracula like, lol
Very sad such a short life but what a life .
I’ve read Richard’s Cole book, and from what I read, it’s almost incredible to see Bonzo on a coffin. Full of life, strong as a bull, rock star, short tempered but also a family man, RIP, the best of the best on drummer’s history
3 months later Lennon died. Bad end to 1980 😔🙏🏻 2 greats
Norman Atty (Vicar) is my father-in-law!
OMG i just seen John Bonhams casket being loaded away ,
omg rip bonzo.....the world has NOT forgotten you !
Makes my gut hurt all over again. 😞
Just think: All these musicians are dead - Michael Jackson, David Bowie, John Bonham, Robin and Maurice Gibb, Prince, Jimmy Hendrix and his entire Experience band, Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, George Michael, Kurt Cobain, Keith Moon, John Entwhistle, Leon Russell, Chuck Berry, Merle Haggard, Adam Yauch, Frank Sinatra even Frank Sinatra jr., Glenn Frey, BB King, Al Jarreau, yet Keith Ricards lives on. Keith Richards who chain smokes Marlboros to this day, still drinks and no doubt still dabbles in drugs has outlived almost everybody. A million years from now mankind will be extinct, and there will be Keith huffing his butts laughing away.
...and cockroaches...though Keith actually has not "dabbled" in drugs in thirty years...and I don't know that he actually smokes all of the time. Probably for when the cameras are around...
he died from overdose of vodka and choked to death on his saliva..you forgot janis joplin and aretha franklin greg allman...bill morrissey...ed king(sweet home alabama)..ronnie van zant
Maybe exercising your immune system and your body's resistance by introducing it slowly, over time, to things considered 'bad for you' can actually be what's best for you. Seems to be working for Keith and Ozzy Osbourne, and many others. A few years ago, I'd have bet the farm Keith Richards would die before the Ultimate Warrior, but... If I had. Today, I'd be farmless.
AlexKx mentioned cockroaches above. Which are another example of my earlier post. Cockroaches eat what? The crap behing your range, under your refrigerator, and between your couch cushions. They can also survive a Nuclear blast. I wonder what Keith had for lunch today...
@@mrscary3721 exercising is good for building a strong immune system and tolerance for toxins
RIP John.Thank you very much for your art.
He didn't die. God just needed drum lessons.
The worst year in rock roll ever!
ive had the story of my wife being at the funneral all my 23 married yrs at no point did i not believe her but now she has the proof .yes she`s the one in the boots and our best friend fenella just delivered celebration day as our joint xmas present thankyou for posting this such a good xmas present to all the family , maybe not india shes 17 and has issues
As soon as I started liking zeppelin in 1978 I couldn’t get enough.. then I remember listening to the radio and that when I heard the announcer say Bonham was gone
WHOA!!! I have NEVER seen or heard of this footage!!!
Sitting at Jimbos kitchen table when word came of Bonhams death. My all time favorite drummer. Great groove and power.
Blachubear we also lost Paul Krofft of Free and Bon Scott of AC/DC. He will be gone 33 years a couple days before my birthday.
The Drummer and his Ludwig, it can't be forgoten! The greatest one!
never forgottin
i remember the news on that day. So bummed
😢
Tragic
Requiem aeternam John Bonham.
Such a loss. Still makes me sad what we could’ve of seen from John even if Zep did disband later in the early 80’s.
very well planned, the other band members left a side door, otherwise it would have been a photo op and some idiot would be yelling what will happen to the band, do you miss john,
"Ladies and Gentlemen the man with only two cavities John Bohnam Moby Dick! 1975
we had the daily mirror in those days it was on the front page i had only been a zep fan for 12 moths it was a big shock out the blue after the europe tour zep were on the way up again even now 40 years on is passing is still very much sad
John Henry Bonham the father of rock drumming, greatest co-ordination between foot and hands , his ability was so far ahead of his time...rip bonzo ur so missed but never forgotton.
Fitting Footage for a sensational Superstar!
Nice upload. Thanks
