Philadelphia Orchard Project
United States
Приєднався 18 лип 2017
The Philadelphia Orchard Project is a nonprofit organization that plants and supports community orchards in the city of Philadelphia.
In partnership with communities, we envision urban ecosystems that create beautiful green spaces, connect neighbors, provide hands-on learning experiences, and grow fresh fruit for generations to come. Since 2007, POP has worked with community-based groups and volunteers to plan and plant orchards filled with useful and edible plants in neighborhoods across the city. POP provides orchard design assistance, plant materials, and training in orchard care. Community organizations own, maintain, and harvest the orchards, expanding community-based food production. This channel serves as a learning resource for our community partners and the wider fruit-growing and urban orchardist community. Learn more about our work at phillyorchards.org

one of the best videos there is
Just bought some Figs from Bass . Super nice guy very knowledgeable and friendly. Tremendous amount of varieties all are super healthy won’t by from anyone else if Bass has that variety. Also has other fruit trees . Petar Bubalo NJ zone 6b .
🥰
Wonderful! Beautiful colors and gets rid of invasive Perilla!
U
Did you stain the grinds?
The other “risky” thing about grafting figs is that if you get a hard frost with dieback to the ground, there goes your prized variety and you are back to whatever rootstock you used. If you root cuttings, they become trees on their own roots and if they die back to the ground, you’ve still got ‘em.
love this guy own 6 of his trees so far, thank you for what you have been doing,. love it bro!
Appreciate the video but sugar and condensed milk? 🤔
Can you post the Fig varties picture at 41:02 ?
First time gardening in Pahrump NV. I have acres in my back yard. I purchased rooted fig cuttings with leaves on it. I thought that I was told to transplant it in the ground and that figs love the sun, so I planted it that evening. Yup, next day leaves were wilted and I think the plant didn't , make it. Someone said to shade it and keep it moist that it may survive because it had good roots. Will it have a chance or should I plan on buying more? Thx
This is the BEST video on total fig care! Thank you Bass, I have saved this video and will share in my Facebook fig groups!
What u use to kill fungus gnats???
mosquito bits work great or spinosad!
Just came across your video. I have so many questions for you. I have 72 trees in 18 gallon pots. I overwinter them in a back garage. One of my biggest problems is moving them back and fourth and the root pruning. I’m 68 years old and it’s getting more of a struggle. What do you suggest? I modified a hand cart and it works pretty good but open to ideas. I also have a short season. I’ve lived in NY/NJ my entire life and now living in upstate NY in Rochester.
If you have the resources and plan to garden for the rest of your life, why not invest in a greenhouse or hoophouse? You can provide supplemental heating in the winter months to keep the space above 32 and you’ll never have to move them again. That’s what I’m doing here in CT
I have seen pots that come with little wheels, not sure where you would get them.
Aluminum foil for mouse protection is a fantastic idea.
Is it ok to up pot a fig tree once it's leafed out?
If you’re genuinely up potting it into a larger pot, no problem; do it any time. But if you are going to root prune it and return it to the same pot with some new soil, better wait until the dormant season.
@@margaretmarshall3645thank you for the reply!
Just trace the lid for the screen.
I got a Bass Favorite Fig from Bass and it has the most amazing flavor and ripened for me in Zone 6a/b
It has!?!?!?!?! Any warming them up early in a greenhouse??
@@wanderingmonk007 I have some videos on starting in a greenhouse on my channel.
Me too!
In the making of the perilla dye did you have a specific leaf to water ratio?
Great job with these videos, PO team!
This video was very helpful for me, I have a lemon and Orange tree, and now see why the orange tree hasn’t been producing- no sunlight.
Good but not found much information
